Thanks for showing the Smithfield Plantation. I travel 81 occasionally so that will make an interesting break from the drive.

"Follow the River", is the name of the movie, and the book. Written by the late James Alexander Thom, whose brother John, an artist, was a great friend of mine.
JAT wrote a number of historic novels, and histories.

Shawnee, not Sioux, First People attacked Draper's Meadow. Thanks from a Virginia Tech graduate for visiting and posting. I will remember the enslaved people who were forced to clear my university's land when I visit later today.

I am also of Cameron, Congo ,Western Bantu as well as Cherokee and Chickasaw. But I was never a slave owner and you were never a slave.

I was thinking we should be owned something they're still making money off our ancestors name.

Saw you video seem like you had a lot of information in tracing back my ancestry and I'm a the Preston one of the documents came back to my 4th grandparent being a slave on that plantation. And wanted to ask you did the slaves take the last name of there owners and was there a John M. Preston in 1840 on that land? Is this Abington Washington, Virginia?
