Da möchte man mitsingen, wenn man könnte. So kann man nur das Herz hüpfen lassen. Julie Fuchs ist ja schon ein arrivierter Star, Evan Hughes noch nicht, erfüllt aber alle Voraussetzungen dafür. Wunderbar!

I am impressed by Evan Hughes; he voice is rich virile and beautiful. The set up is somewhat confusing; are those microphones? surely not a performance for public consumption. They don't have there respective noses buried in the score since they are both very animated and into the drama of the scene. I generallyi prefer my Figaro to be sung by a baritone but Hughes is an exception since he also conveys youth and being lean and animated also contribute to what could be a perfect Figaro.
Ou làlà! Definitely a very, very good baritone. I very much like the phrasing and dynamics of Evan Hughes, the dead-secure intonation, the vigorous sound of his voice and the very musical command of forte-piano. Apart from that he's acting very convincingly, he lives his part. In the beginning the first few C4's were a little bit throaty (above C4 - interesting enough - the voice was free). In the aria "Se vuol ballare Signor contino" then the voice was well set, warmed up. In general perhaps a wee little bit overdone, a wee little bit nervous (who would blame him for that?), a wee little bit wanting too much, but definitely a remarkable talent that has set highest standards here. I wonder how he would do Don Giovanni one day. Bravo. Evan Hughes seems to be a name to notice in the future. I think we can expect greatest vocal art from him.
ONeirda Not so interesting...C4 should be around the beginning of his passaggio.
Nothing sounded throaty or overdone to me. The tone was generally free from start to finish.
