- We jump on the famous route "The File" at Higgar Tor. Though low in the grade, there are climbers that have shredded their hands on this crack climb.
The truth is......it's a very easy climb and as you gain experience, and some crack climbing miles, when you revisit it you think back to your first assent of the route and wonder, "Why did I make a meal out of this?" Thus we often use this route as a benchmark to see how our crack climbing has improved.
Classic gritstone vs testpiece, did that as a warm up for the rasp 🤣🤣
I've only looked at The File. VS 4c? Ha ha ha. You guys warmed up on a couple of HVS's. Then you are ready to tackle the VS. That sounds about right.
First ascent by "The Villain" in 1956, no friends, no chalk and no sticky boots.....
Yeah either plimsolls or boots
No one has called this climb low in the grade before, lol.
It is though
I nearly lost my tongue on this climb...that's right my tongue in about 77. I decide to bomb it bad mistake tired rapidly at about 15ft whilst trying to place a runner fell decked it my knees concertinaed up into my jaw I bit my tongue about 3/4 thro ouch. Sipping beer thro a straw in The Nags Head that night.
I really enjoy your videos...especially the unique hold by hold commentary. Shame you've started adding distracting music in the background. The grunts & voice overs really are enough. They provide vicarious excitement - like being there. Music takes away from that. (for me anyway).
Next video will have zero background music. See how it goes. Our viewer speak, we listen.
The true is I hate the task of putting it in. I might use music more sparingly in the future.
Now if only I could spell first thing in the morning. LOL
Thanks for that. I was a bit harsh..but the commentary & wind noises (weather ones that is) really are enough. Hope you keep making videos.
I led The File, David at Burbage South and Long Tall Sally at Burbage North on the same day and in that order of the 3 The File was the hardest. :) glad I never have to do it again.
Love these videos, especially the trad ones. Very few other channels filming trad climbs on here. Keep making them!
Great work on these vids, guys - I really like the multiple camera angles and voice overs :)
Really wish you guys were still releasing stuff
I miss you guys
Great angles even with the go pro. Sweet videos keep posting!!!
Cheers, we try. Sometimes we mess up as it cam be really difficult to get the camera's in place.
Why don't you dudes wear tape? Just curious?
The real reason is because we are lazy. The file is short, smooth, perfect width so no tape is needed if you take your time and use good technique. There has been a climb recently which we will go back and record, which we did not tape and failed. Must go buy some first. :-)
@@EndlessClimbing interesting can't wait to see the video failure or progression is still entertaining to watch an informative keep posting thank you. PS. I have what they call piano hands thin and long hands I must tape or feels like I'm grinding my bones into dust. Heh
Great videos guys brilliant stuff
Cheers, Lee. More to come. Just seeing out winter with a spot of indoor climbing, but much more content coming in 2019.
@@EndlessClimbing already looking forward to it guys! , you should head to North Wales , holyhead mountain and the slate offer great single pitch climbing
