    Mclaren don't exist so that "new media" can pretend there is excitement back in the drivers championship.
    The only way you will find one driver expecting to support the other is if the championship is on with only a few races to go. We are only half way through the season for goodness sakes.

    Does anyone remember René Arnoux? He didn't let Alain Prost win the 1982 French Grand Prix after ignoring team orders. This was Renault's first one-two in Formula One. His Renault career was effectively over after that.

    • @aoife1122
      @aoife1122 Месяц назад +2

      Arnoux didn't do it to protect his own title chances though, he was trailing Prost by quite some margin in the championship.
      A more fitting comparison would be Gilles Villeneuve obeying team orders in Monza '79 and, by doing so, relinquishing his own chances to win the title. The beneficiary in this case, however, was his teammate Jody Scheckter... not a driver from a rival team! Such an absurdity is quite unheard of in Formula 1... until last Sunday, that is.

    Lando should have switched back due to getting the lead from 2 undercuts and then he could have raced for the lead. Lando left it to the last lap, that wasn't the teams doing. The Oscar should have pitted first argument doesn't hold much water. The undercut and switch back strategy to secure the 1 2 lockout is not unheard of.

    McLaren Purposely called in Lando just so they would give him the undercut IN ORDER to give the team order. They KNEW that Lando was at that pint the faster driver and was chasing his teammate down and would have gotten around him. THAT is why they didn't call Piastri in first. Had they done so and Lando pulled closed the gap in that lap while Piastri was getting his tires up to temp, he would have made the overtake even easier, so by calling Lando in first, they strategically trapped him into having him give back the position because it appeared as though calling him in first is why he got the undercut done.
    The reality is that as the fuel loads come down, Lando has shown to be the more consistent and superior driver between them, which is why Lando finishes ahead of Piastri more often than not. On top of it all, Piastri made a few unforced errors that cost him a bunch of time whilst Lando drove completely error free start to finish. Piastri pitted after Lando and thus had slightly fresher tires but he was struggling to match Lando's pace who was going quicker Lap after Lap. McLaren was wrong to force Lando to give that Victory ti Piastri.
    Lando turned down better offers from other teams because he wanted to be loyal to McLaren and this is so NOT how to repay such loyalty. It is to date one of, if not theeee absolute worst team order ever given. WDC are extremely difficult to be in the running for, so when the opportunity is there for a driver, you help him as much as possible, period.

If he didnt give it back you never know what would happen later in the season. lando and oscar could find themselves clashing more instead o helping, piastri might not do the team thing because of the past. like you cant blame this result on it cause team moral is so important and not giving the race to piastri might have changed a whole lot.

So, if he holds me up, you’ll then either have to tell him to move over or let me fight him for the win.

    • @Vanns_F1
      @Vanns_F1 Месяц назад

      Oscar is really becoming good quickly and has the potential to win the WDC but will he be able to achieve that with McLaren? I worry they will do him dirty just like they are doing Lando now. The team's mentality is a big problem despite having a very competitive car, unless that changes any driver at McLaren is not safe. Especially with how the pit wall is making the decisions and strategy calls they still have the mid-field mentality and they need to step up big time.
      When a team is not having a consistent 1-2, then trying to race fair will never win either of the driver a Championship when going up against individual Drivers having their teams full support.
      In Silverstone McLaren bottled a 1-2 through bad calls, not double stacking for Piastri and then not pitting Lando the right lap and putting him on mediums. The team is not complementing the efforts of both drivers.
      In Spa the strategy lost Lando his track position to Max and they quite didn't do anything to try and correct it (Oh they couldn't use team orders 💀).
      McLaren is failing both of their drivers big time!!

    • @Vanns_F1

      Double stacking was not viable as Piastri was just under 2.5 seconds ahead of Lando. Doing soo it could have lost Lando some time (then in such situation double stacking could be costly in the event the first pit stop is not mint, maybe the wheel gun is a bit faulty)
      Hamilton undercut Lando and if they didn't pit him quickly (the next immediate lap), the undercut was going to work and Lando loses the track position to Lewis (no more 1-2) and given how it was difficult to overtake on track as it's very petite.
      Piastri not being up to pace is what made things even weirder.

      The reasoning behind covering Hamilton is legit wise.
      Hamilton pitted first (doing an undercut on Lando, the driver ahead of him). With fresh tyres he had very good lap times and if Lando didn't pit immediately he would lose the second position to Lewis as he would rejoin behind him (once he pits later on), that would not have been ideal for Lando as it was beginning of the last stint and overtaking on track was difficult (even with good pace and tyre advantage, the circuit is soo petite).
      Soo by not pitting Lando quickly to respond to Lewis undercutting it could have most probably have had Lando finishing third.
      The main problem was it's Piastri who was leading and Lando pitting before him (an undercut) was most definitely going to work as the gap between them was below 2.5 seconds. If it had been Max who was leading and Lando undercut him and it was successful, Lando would have won the race with no guilt and team orders.

    For the last few races you can see Lando knows he can win a championship and everytime something is happening that works against him.

      The team is not complementing the efforts him and Oscar are putting out on track.
      In Silverstone both of them had chance to win (especially Lando who was ahead all along) but the strategy calls f*cked that up, 3-4 at the chequered flag.
      The team is consistently making big mistakes each grand prix with strategy calls. At the end there are no good results (esp a win) and it will have Lando questioning if he is good enough for the championship.

    Lando vs max and Oscar vs max. Oscar is more likely to be able to pull off 2021 because he’s less emotional than Hamilton. And Stella is more political savvy and sensible than Toto.

    @21:26 Hold your horses cowboy!
    It was LH who steered in to MV.
    MV was first at the apex, HE had the right to choose his line, LH stoically continued to get his own line. THAT caused MV to lock up his front.
    It doesn't matter if MV was upside down or backwards, he had the right to choose his line.
    And the what happened, LH steered in to him, twice, knowing MV locked his front and was not able to avoid a collision, the exact thing LH was required to do.👴🤷‍♂
    @23:19 Right, it was very calculated when he steered twice into MV.👴👌
    @23:34 Exactly, carefully watch LH from the front, and his left, brightly yellow gloved came significantly up and visible, twice.👴👌
    @23:54 Just take a minute and carefully look back, it was as deliberate as deliberate can be, freezingly calculated.👴🤷‍♂
    @24:37 From here it's just fantasy.👴👎
    @26:17 YES, Brits undeniably love motorsport, especially F1. As long as there is a Brit leading.👴🤮
    @28:31NO, every single driver must have that mentality.👴🤷‍♂
