A Music Lover's Dream...
For those who truly refuse to compromise on sound quality, there is McIntosh. With 200 Watts per channel, 14 inputs and a high-performance AM/FM tuner, the new MAC7200 Receiver is a music lover’s dream.
With on-board AM / FM tuner...
The built-in AM/FM tuner in the MAC7200 comes from an illustrious line of McIntosh tuners. It will pick up your favourite radio stations with unparalleled clarity and a realism that is free from noise and distortion. Its advanced signal quality monitor can display the multipath and noise levels of the incoming RF signal to help fine tune antenna placement for optimal reception.
The FM tuner includes Radio Data System (RDS) support, allowing it to display optional information sent by radio stations such as the station’s name and call letters as well as the name of the artist and song being played. It features 20 presets for each radio band, as well as a remote AM antenna.
Highlights...
2 x 200 watts of power amplification
New & improved McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks
Built-in AM/FM tuner offers unparalleled clarity and realism
Digital inputs are housed within an upgradable DA1 Digital Audio Module
Analogue inputs include 5 x Line Level RCA, 1 x Balanced, 1 x MM Phono, 1 x MC Phono
Digital inputs include 2 Coaxial, 2 Optical, 1 USB, 1 MCT input
Quad balanced 8-channel, 32-bit / 192 kHz DAC
Hi-Res digital music up to DSD256 & DXD 384kHz
New & improved control microprocessors
Full of McIntosh technological staples including Autoformers, Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Home Theater PassThru, High Drive headphone amplifier with #Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD) and Power Control
A multitude of inputs...
The 14 inputs are comprised of both analogue and digital input types. For analogue, there is 1 balanced and 5 unbalanced inputs plus 1 Moving Coil and 1 Moving Magnet input to connect turntables. For digital, there are 2 coaxial and 2 optical inputs, 1 USB and 1 proprietary MCT input (for use with the MCT450 SACD/CD Transport). All inputs can be given custom names for user-friendly system control and configuration.
Upgradeable digital module...
The digital inputs are contained in the new DA1 Digital Audio Module; the DA1 can be replaced by future modules to easily keep the MAC7200 up to date with the latest digital audio technologies.
At the heart of the #DA1 is a powerful 8-channel, 32-bit digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) used in Quad Balanced mode. PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz can be played via the USB input, allowing for playback of high resolution audio up to DSD256 and DXD 384kHz levels. The coax and optical inputs support up to 24-bit/192kHz files.
New #McIntosh technology...
McIntosh's striking Monogrammed Heatsinks are included and they not only make a visual statement, but they are also very efficient at dissipating heat - which is why they warrant bearing the McIntosh logo. They are connected to advanced high current output transistors that eliminate warm-up time so the #MAC7200 is ready to go from the moment you turn it on.
Other McIntosh technologies found in the MAC7200 include Autoformers to deliver the full 200 Watts to each of your speakers regardless of their impedance, Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Home Theater PassThru, bass and treble tone controls, High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD), and gold-plated speaker binding posts.

if I was in NZ I'd buy from you just from the unboxing video, lol
Thinking some receivers offer huge output bc most speakers are so inefficient. I use the Klipsch Heresy line and can run them with my iPad.
Yes and No. I have never meet a speaker that does not respond superbly with lots of good clean power.
I think I'm going to buy one and never open it. It'll be a nice piece to hand to my son one day when I'm gone.
Maybe a waste not to use it (?)
What a beauty! Too bad the engineers at McIntosh decided to include JUST the digital optical inputs and NO HDMI input in the new DA1 Module. Maybe the interchangeable module will include HDMI capabilities in the future.
I guess McIntosh is responding to overall market demands. They may release an external DAC with HDMI, but are unlikely to do this on an Int Amp.
@@@TLPCHC McIntosh did not build in HDMI inputs on their brand new, magnificent MA9000 Integrated Amplifier. It looks like they are using them exclusively on their Home Theater processors.
@@DeadSeaGenesis And no DAB+ Radio, especially for most countries are shutting down their AM/FM broadcasting.
unboxing a Mc Intosh is sport !
:-)
Thank you Zig
Just picked one up today what a beauty!!!
You are VERY lucky. Enjoy
OK, I guess 'giant killer' is relative but 7K USD MSRP puts it firmly in the realm of the audio giants, at least in my universe ;)
(I know McIntosh is a premium brand and that they have considerably more expensive gear - thanks for the vid)
Yes Arthur, McIntosh is expensive, but such good comparative value when we look at its competition.
The Listening Post Christchurch | TLPCHC what do you think about the new mission lx-2 speakers?.
Never gets old watching you hiff the accessories around haha.
Hi Lisa, We don't stock or sell Mission. Here are the bookshelf speakers we do have: www.listeningpost.co.nz/Products/Speakers/Bookshelf-Speakers/Bookshelf-Speakers-__I.27756__C.27280
It's $15,000 in Australia/NZ
Can I use this as either a pre or power only? Thanks.
Hi Rile, the MA-C7200 has rear jumpers between the pre-amp outs and the power ins, allowing for us as a pre, power or int amp.
Perfect! This will be my Christmas gift then. I can have it as an int for my 2nd setup, or I can pair it up with my MC452 for my main setup. Fun times ahead!
I’m confused, there appears to only be a single banana connector for 8ohm speakers per channel when my current amplifier utilizes two per speaker. Where am I supposed to plug the negative ends in? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’ll be buying one of these very soon and we’ll maybe I’ve just got more money than sense.
Hello from Christchruch New Zealand. Clink into the video to 14:36 (14mins, 36sec) where there is a close up of one of the speakers outputs. There are three "red" or positive binding posts (for 2, 4 or 8 ohm speakers) and a single "black" or negative. One positive and one negative conection creats the circuit required through the speaker.
How many is umpteen ?
Two balanced and like 5 RCA PLUS digital = Umpteen
Nice!!
Fun fun fun!!!
Thanks Zerocap
Not sure that the theatrics are necessary for your review
Disappointed; he didn't toss the remote. He did think about it, though 😉
I get hate mail when I toss the power cord... imagine the hurt if I tossed the remote (?)
Those Yanks make good products!
Yes - Yes they do
Weighs around 75 pounds!
Yes - You would have seen the efforts I needed to make to lift that amplifier. Look out for the MA-72000 video coming very soon.
