- In this video, Dr. Beck introduces a recently published article in which he and co-author Emily Haigh describe an expansion of cognitive theory: (Beck & Haigh, 2014.) Dr. Beck posits that while his theory - originally developed in the 1960s - remains rooted in the understanding of how people's beliefs influence their perceptions, mood, and behavior, it draws from and has been enriched by contributions from a wide variety of areas and disciplines. Dr. Beck's new theoretical model, the Generic Cognitive Model, provides a template for conceptualizing specific disorders and developing specific case formulations for each disorder.
Such a great man. No one can describe the Cognitive Model quite like him.
I find it very interesting to hear Dr. Beck. He is very brief in his statement that his theory has grown but I can see on the right of my screen other film clips that may add to his statement.
In Case You Missed It: Dr. Aaron Beck discusses his latest article on the Generic Cognitive Model.
I want to giv e him a hug!
