Maybe in a country that was hysteric about COVID. In most of the world you’d walk into the office with a mask on and maintain 6 feet distance.

What's stoppping a successful quant dev from taking his skills and applying them into his own startup? Essentially quants are money printers right?

I will join Jump Trading this summer as a TechOps intern. What do you think about Jump, and also what is your opinion on TechOps in hedge funds (is it worst than swe or quant?)
Jump is arguably the best prop trading firm in the community. Unfortunately, yes, techops is seen as inferior to swe/quant. However, you will still make a ton of money as compared to other jobs. You’ll be jealous of the rumors of what the front office swe/quant/traders make though.

I am a software developer for 10 years, I made my own trading system making 7-10% monthly on crypto coins during the COVID time. Should I look for career change to turn to be a quant developer, or just resign the job to run the trading business myself？

@@walterwangsyd and? Your returns underperformed buy and hold. Sounds like you either need to refine your strategy and see how it performs in different market environments or give up and use that energy towards getting promoted at your day job.

Some banks have them outside of the US, but there are independent Prop Firms. Actually Many!

Do you think that Quants will make trader's job obsolete? Since traders are manual compare to a quant which are much practical.
You're messing up the terminology. There are quants and trades which work on the same team, and their jobs are quite different.
