Lawler had a psychological hold on Memphis from his mid 20s and was obviously a superb performer with varied matches. Nick Bockwinkel raved over Lawler's work. Lawler had no problem putting over non-HOFers like Crusher Blackwell and developed countless characters from scratch. A guy doesn't dominate for decades without talent. People may have bickered with Lawler businesswise but he is among the absolute greatest workers and talkers.
