Such a cool mod. I would be very hesitant to drill into the hood but after your vlog I would feel confident doing this. Adding this mod to the list. LOL
I have had my 15 limelight scat for 7mo. now it came with the Mopar hood pin kit already installed and i love the look plus sets it apart from other challengers i say its worth the effort to install and gives it a true 70s vibe.
Just finished up this mod. Set comes with 2 pairs of grommets, one for the hood and one for the plastic cover. For the plastic cover i recommend using the 1 1/4 inch hole saw for the holes. Helps the grommets fit better and looks great
WOW, yup no room for mistakes & looks Gr8!!! My one & only concern is (Chafing) on the hood with the wire, there is going to be movement while on the highway, & over time I see that becoming an issue. I like the way it looks, really ups the macho of the total package, but I need to research & hit a few MOPAR car meets to get some feedback.
Yep you are correct. Over time it can definitely cause micro scratches. I think they can be buffed out but it is definitely a risk. A paint protection film can definitely help but then it becomes a much more expensive project
Thats a badass mod fam, I would be super nervous too. Great idea using paint to make drill marks. The tape is a must to protect the paint. Keep grinding, stay safe 🤝🤝💯💯
I wanted to do this but drilling into sheet metal makes me cringe. I've drilled through plastic easily for my bumper diffuser. But this is on another level.
Great video. I just ordered a 23 Challenger Scat Pack Widebody Shaker and I'm going back and forth on the hood pins. You did one of the things I am worried about painting where you drilled out the hood. I would like to think they would do that from the factory or the dealer whoever does it but I wonder? I guess if I do it I can always remove the grommet washer and look to see?
very cool. ive already drilled a hole in my trunk for the performance redeye spoiler, so i got that confidence to do the hood now. its a shame the hood pin kit has skyrocketed in price now. i thought it use to be like 170-200, now its like 300+ wtf
Doing it tomorrow, so wrote down the steps and sharing it here if it's useful for someone! Items required : Mopar hood pin - 82214260 (If not this part number, DO NOT INSTALL). 1 1/4 Hole SAW for Metal. 1 inch drill bit for Plastic 7/64" drill bit for pilot hole. Touch up paint black. Marker paint - white / yellow. Steps: Step 1: Remove Plastic cover carefully. Step 2: Locate Plastic Rivet and Screw Step 3: Remove Plastic rivet and Screw (Use 10 MM socket for the screw) Step 4: Slide in Bracket and reinstall the screw and plastic rivet. Step 5: Repeat the same step on other side. Step 6: Mark the tip of the hood pin with white or yellow paint and slowly lower hood (Slowly, so the paint mark will show where to put pilot hole) Step 7: Drill pilot hole in both sides (Only for lower portion of hood) Step 8: Put a paint mark again and slowly lower hood. If it touch right place, from beneath the hood, put the pilot hole slowly through the top hood. Step 9 : Repeat other side. Step 10 : Put another pilot hole for lower part of hood , very next to first pilot hole. Step 11: Remove the POLE and the lower the hood slowly. Never drill hole with pole in place. Step 12: Put masking tape on hood tope for protection. Put tape around the pilot hole, so no scratch to rest of hood. Step 13: Drill into the hood from top. Step 14: Apply touch up paint generously, so no rust. Kindly make sure it's done, else it will rust out in no time! Step 15: Repeat step 12-14. Step 16: Measure hole for plastic cover and make a pilot hole on right place. Step 17: Drill through plastic hole and re-install the plastic. Step 18: Re-install the hood pin pole. Step 19 : Repeat same step from 16 to 18. Step 20: Through under hood, Install gromets into 2 holes after paint is dried. Make sure it fit well. Step 21 : Test fit the hood pin POLE once hood is lowered. Make sure it's sit correct and centered. If needs adjustment do it now, so it will bend hood later. Step 22: Remove masking tapes. Step 23: Without removing backing sticker, place the top grommet with MOPAR facing front. Make sure the pole is sitting correct and not hitting it/ touching it. Step 23 : CLEAN surface and place the decorative Mopar caps where the letter MOPAR facing FRONT. Step 24: Adjust height and then tighten the NUT for the base. Step 25: Remove plastic cover and feed the wire through the grill. Re-install plastic cover and slowly lower hood to see how it fits. A perfectly installed hood pin will have no issue when lowering hood and it will be having enough play on top, not to destroy the hood when someone pull latch without removing hood pin.
I just got a 2023 Destroyer Gray Scat Pack. I think like yours? . Is yours destroyer gray? Did it came with the shaker hood? I’m planning to install a shaker hood on mine soon . Yours Looks nice!
Thanks! Yep this is destroyer gray. And yes mine came with the shaker package from the factory. I love how the shaker looks and definitely recommend it.
I ordered mine from Stevewhitemotors on eBay and I already received it and I’m waiting for this Saturday to get it installed. My car is also Destroyer Grey but my hood has a satin black hood wrap.
GREAT VIDEO, just curious at like the 3:56 mark your pointing to the bolt and plastic rivet with the bolt being closer to the firewall and the plastic rivet is at the front yet later around 4:53 your putting the bolt in the front...... are they are reversed......or was this a boo boo???? Just curious, still a great video, thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for watching! So at 4:53 the camera angle changed so it looks different. The rivet is still up at the front of the car and the bolt is on the side.
Nope. The hood pins come with instructions but no measurements. You will have to mark the tip with paint or something similar and then lower the hood to see where it touches
Thanks! Nope no rubbing issues. The plastic ring around the hood pins gives it a little space so the wire doesn't actually touch the paint. And if it does it doesn't scratch it
Thanks man, I am going to do it on my Shaker this week. Dang it's only 5 days old vehicle! Hope it goes well, if you have any tips tricks, share. Also, what you think having it for 3 years now? You like it or it's an inconvenience ?
Haha good luck man! It's definitely scary but ultimately not that hard to do. I would just say that the metal pins are a little movable/bendable so if the hole isnt exactly centered you can bend them a bit to make it fit better. As for ownership I actually put these on last year and sold the ride about 8 months later but I have no regrets about putting them on. Gives it a great touch and definitely a head turner
@@geeksauthority no problem man! I actually got a Hellcat so that's the only reason I sold it. Man I miss the car though. I've been making videos of the new one in case you're interested. I plan to add hood pins to that one in the future
@@SchwayZ Ah now that makes sense :) I thought we lost you. Mine is a brand new shaker and only available one in 1500 KMS radius where I live, it was fully loaded except hood pins. So I asked dealer to buy and install it for $400 and it was part of purchase agreement. So they will be doing it.
This mod is only a good thing if you are trying to get your steps in. If the hood release was external, then it would be fine. Otherwise, just time consuming.
Bro. Not gonna lie here. The massive gringe seeing that hood being drilled. Been thinking about doing the same on my 2020 Challanger Scat Pack 392 Hemi.
Looks good! I would be super nervous about drilling into my hood.
Haha thanks man! Yeah it wasn't easy to watch 😓
Such a cool mod. I would be very hesitant to drill into the hood but after your vlog I would feel confident doing this. Adding this mod to the list. LOL
Yeah it's scary but if you line it up correctly you should be fine! Maybe wait until your car isn't so new haha 🤣
I would of thrown up the sec I drilled into the top of my hood . I do want to do that . But I can’t get met self to drill into the hood . Lol

Very helpful, installed mine today after months of being afraid to drill those holes. Thanks!
Very nice, make sure you remove the clasp pins before pulling the hood release cable under the dash. Good job.

Dudeeeeeeeeeeee my anxiety was on 1000 watching your dad cut the hood😂😂😂 he did an excellent job!💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
I plan to order but I'll be watching the vid about 100 more times first lol
Hahaha yeah I know how that is 😂 you will love them though. Definitely worth the effort

Looks beautiful getting the same on mine. Mine is also Destroyer Grey so gotta do the black pins.
Install August 8th.
Can’t wait!
Nice video. Thanks.
Thank you for watching! Easily one of my favorite modifications. It just makes it look so aggressive and old school! Good luck!
The hood is made out of aluminum so it will never rust
So there’s no need to touch up with paint?

Why’d you decide on feeding the cable through grill rather than air inlets?
My T/A came with them from the factory, they are not fed through the inlets.

a little nerve racking but it turned out awesome bro :)

How well do you think this would work with a charger?
I think it's doable. I've seen some modern hood pins on a charger before. Not sure if I've seen this exact setup but you could probably make it work
Is there a set measurement for how the hood pins should go on the hood?
Nope. The hood pins come with instructions but no measurements. You will have to mark the tip with paint or something similar and then lower the hood to see where it touches
Looks really good! Have you had any rubbing issues from the wires?
Thanks! Nope no rubbing issues. The plastic ring around the hood pins gives it a little space so the wire doesn't actually touch the paint. And if it does it doesn't scratch it
