There are numerous videos of surgeons themself teaching milking of the tube. Numerous facilities perform this, provide discharge instructions to pts on how to milk it, and nursing schools still teach it.
Is the "no stripping" for all JP drains? And is this something new? I work in a facility that still does this!
In other video about emptying jpratt it says you can strip the tube when it's clogged.
Stripping the drain helps prevents clots. 🤔
Manipulating or stripping the drainage tube can also cause tissue damage.
why not sterile technique
Forgot to clear with alcohol before closing
should put clean gloves on before applying a new dressing on the site after draining the bloody fluid (sersanguineous)
If your gloves become soiled, yes!
