I bought this record in 1982 at Jericho market, l had saved for 2 weeks by going to school on foot. With 7bob i was a proud owner of Bibi mdogo record.Coco Zigo Mike Almasi.
Pale Garden Square every friday night....mid 1980s sweet years those. The legendary DJ Eddie Fondo made me fall in love with this stuff.May your soul continue resting in peace legend
Ranganai Msipa Viva Makale wanakuja, unikamate twende MEANS Viva Makale band is coming, hold me and let's go. - Bibi mdogo is Young lady,Bwana mdogo is Young man.So they are insisting to each other to make sure they go to Garden Square to attend the dance. The language is Swahili.
Coco zigo mike mwenyewe lead guiter..I.loved this guy Rip. Was in.std 6 kihumbui-ni Primary school kangemi..was a youf boy rhen, i miss those days viva makale wanakuya led noirs
Reminds of the 80s when Voice of Kenya then, now KBC could not miss this song every Friday afternoon on a program CHAGUO LAKO by Eddy Phondo. It was a real hit but sadly all those guys who were the main players in Viva Makaly are no more.RIP.
The dramatist was a friend of mine. A very humble Mr Lava Muchini. Later did a few sessions for the circuit of Mangelepa, Kabaselleh Ochieng, Ibeba System, First Moja One before jetting out for Japan.
Coco Zigo died in 98 on the infamous day of the bomb blast at the American Embassy. He was involved in an accident elsewhere, but on arrival at Kenyatta Hospital, nurses were attending to the blast victims. He died of excessive bleeding.
Coco died at KNH of pneumonia he had arrived at the hospital and the blast victims found hi there so they were given the first priority so he succumbed to pneumonia on the waiting bay,we buried him at Langata.
He past on last year(2017)The Master Disco jockey(MDJ),this was one of his must play in changuo lako every friday in mid 80s. we used to hide our walkman radios in our lockers at high school just to listen to him. When eventually your request card was read and the request played, you simply went to cloud nine. Miss them days.
