The narrator has such a soothing tone to his voice that many nights I fall into sleep during a reading, this pleasant experience allows me to go back over many stories as if they are new to me.
I suffer from insomnia and there's been nothing as alleviating from this as your recordings of my favourite books, easily the best on youtube. Many thanks
For me this is true, too, but only after having listened to all of them at least once. So it's a mix of a great voice and style, fascinating stories and allowing yourself to be carried away by them. The first round cost me SOOOO much sleep because it was too captivating, though, so I think it's fair! :)
Thank you so much for providing these wonderful readings for us. I recently lost my wife, so, going to bed alone can be difficult. I've been listening to your readings, and, they take my mind off my wife and let me slowly go to sleep. Beautifully done.
Fantastic! You have a talent for being simultaneously very soothing, but also so exciting and skilled in your narration that it's difficult to stop listening. This is why, depending on mood of your audience, you can either lull us into relaxation, or keep us on the edge of our seats listening with bated breath. It's a rare talent to be able to be either thing in the same narration. Thank you for your professional, brilliant narration and acting. You're the definite voice of Holmes for me, now.
Thank you good sir for making these recordings available on RUclips. I read these stories along while reading the actual story in my book. I appreciate these audiobooks very much :D
I just realized that a scene from this story is the basis for the picture used in all the thumbnails for these videos. “I lay back against the cushions, puffing at my cigar, while Holmes, leaning forward, with his long, thin forefinger checking off the points upon the palm of his left hand, gave me a sketch of the events which had led to our journey.”

Hopefully this comment doesn’t come too late, but if I may ask, why have you only covered twelve of the 25 stories in this collection? Edit: my apologies, it appears I was mistaken. Upon consulting Wikipedia, I have found that there are only 12 stories in this collection, but I am still puzzled by the number system used in these thumbnails and titles. Anyhow, these audiobooks are incredible, thank you so much for making them.
This reminds me of Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of Wee Bloody O'Me. In that one, Holmes stumbles upon a gnome who has infiltrated the Royal Leprechaun Racing ring. Gripping stuff.
I am trying to read like you. I repeat a sentence like 15 20 times listen and try to say like you again and again. Oh I am really bad at it but I will keep trying and never give up. I am recording my voice sentence by sentence. I hope one day I can read like you and speak better
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio I really like your reading and listening you for a long time. Ive never listened Anthony Hopkins. But I checked him out thank you. I think I will continue with your work 💖
Given that there are no "moors" in the United States, I do wish some English person would someday explain what a moor actually is. The countryside? A plain? A field? A rock-strewn hillside? What grows there? Trees? Sagebrush? Shrubs? Grasses? Nothing is mentioned other than ferns.
Yeah, I found it! The famous drawing of Sherlock Holmes and Watson, which is the "thumbnail" picture of most of the audiostories comes from this very episode, time: 5:00. Drawing e.g.: ruclips.net/video/7psLDX2ylQI/видео.html
“Curried mutton” sounds absolutely revolting. Ick. Hard to stand having to hear the term half a dozen times. Otherwise a good story with a nice twist at the end.
Funny how you use the famous drawing of Holmes and Watson in the train wagon as background to most of your Holmes stories, but you don't have it for the story where the drawing actually comes from. 🤣
""I knew perfectly well what it was over that he was brooding." !!! Good God. . When did the English language become so ridiculously overwrought? Absurd usage. And there's more. Even Conan Doyle knew better than that. He fell down in his editing responsibility in this one.
Warning. I love all of them stories, I love the narrator, but this one is probably a hit and miss if you like Doyle. Sorry to say, skip forward in my opinion.
It has some inaccuracies about horse racing, but that depends on how much you feel the world of the story is our world. And we have the dog in the nighttime.
The narrator has such a soothing tone to his voice that many nights I fall into sleep during a reading, this pleasant experience allows me to go back over many stories as if they are new to me.
Mr. Wagland you are a virtuoso and your art is appreciated as much as any leading Opera singer or classical musician.

I really like your reading and listening you for a long time. Ive never listened Anthony Hopkins. But I checked him out thank you. I think I will continue with your work 💖
Whatever happened to Lestrade?
Given that there are no "moors" in the United States, I do wish some English person would someday explain what a moor actually is. The countryside? A plain? A field? A rock-strewn hillside? What grows there? Trees? Sagebrush? Shrubs? Grasses? Nothing is mentioned other than ferns.
Google knows. There’s also description in The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Although I think there is an orchid mentioned there that would not be on the moor or at least during that time of the year.
Often boggy as well. It is an odd word that is difficult to grasp for foreigners such as us.
Yeah, I found it! The famous drawing of Sherlock Holmes and Watson, which is the "thumbnail" picture of most of the audiostories comes from this very episode, time: 5:00.
Drawing e.g.: ruclips.net/video/7psLDX2ylQI/видео.html
I always love listening to Holmes and Watson's cases.
This story would make a really good netflix movie
Yes.
“Curried mutton” sounds absolutely revolting. Ick. Hard to stand having to hear the term half a dozen times. Otherwise a good story with a nice twist at the end.
Curried mutton… yum, probably
I wish you could read my lectures as well, so easy to comprehend.
excellent reader -
Back to reality ❣️.
To all the ladies out there. You're welcome :)
Thisispector is actually competant o.o
Very much unlike Lestrade.
Glad Holmes gets a inspector who doesnt make his work harder.
So this story is where the picture came from.
👍🏼
Funny how you use the famous drawing of Holmes and Watson in the train wagon as background to most of your Holmes stories, but you don't have it for the story where the drawing actually comes from. 🤣
I use it for the thumbnail pic.
What’s everyone’s fav story?
Copper Beeches.
Hound of the Baskervilles
I like Sherlock Holmes
""I knew perfectly well what it was over that he was brooding." !!! Good God. . When did the English language become so ridiculously overwrought? Absurd usage. And there's more. Even Conan Doyle knew better than that. He fell down in his editing responsibility in this one.
Oh, I thought that is simply how English was like back then. English has always been more formal (than American English), you see
I Like Sherlock Holmes in englisch😊😊😊
♥️
thankssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Warning. I love all of them stories, I love the narrator, but this one is probably a hit and miss if you like Doyle. Sorry to say, skip forward in my opinion.
I tend to agree with you Magnus.
It has some inaccuracies about horse racing, but that depends on how much you feel the world of the story is our world. And we have the dog in the nighttime.

"But there is no dog in the nighttime" 😅
