you can really see why yamaguchi becomes captain in their third year
- he's generally more caring (compared to tsukishima and kageyama, i mean they gave no shit when hinata fainted)
- he can keep his relatively calm composure and collect himself when needed
- he is helpful, like when he offered to keep of hinata's luggage
- and you know. he's less chaotic when in comparison to hinata
- he's much more friendly than socially awkward kags and saltyshima
- making him easier to approach, or consult in if needed
- he seems like the person who would always listen to you problems, or when needed, talk your problems out
- he just has a more solid sense of morals (?) in general

@@Ali-fb5km don't worry, I'm not trying to do that. I'm just saying that with Hinata can as silly or dumb as he wants without any judgment so he's more relax. With Tsuki he might be more open because of the longtime friendship but because of that he knows the kind of behavior that he won't do in order to don't bother him.
If we want to make it more magical or something like that we might say that the analogy of Hinata and Tsuki been Moon and Sun (as Tsuki himself said it) also applies in terms of friendship types for Yamaguchi and actually that's pretty cool

my headcanon is kinda different: Yamaguchi initially hung around with Hinata while Tsukki wasn't around cuz he was worried Tsukki won't approve of the YamaHina friendship (but in reality, he doesn't mind lol) Because of this, Yamaguchi will tease Hinata when Tsukki is around but will be nice with him when he isn't there

They would still.be close friends even after their Karasuno days. I remember reading the manga, Yams will be the one picking up Hinata in the airport when he went back home from Brazil. Should not be a big deal but just love small details showing that they are still friends after years. Love this two.

I think it’s more that they have contrasting personalities. Yams is more open about his emotions while Kags tends to keep them to himself, including affection or care.

Kageyama and Hinata are rivals, even though Kageyama has lousy social skills, he did more for Hinata than Yamaguchi. Let's not forget that before, Yamaguchi joined in the taunts that Tsukishima made towards Hinata and Kageyama, and it was Kageyama who always jumped in his favor and became his best ally.
In the manga, their relationship developed enough to the point that they called each other regularly on the phone to talk about manga and other things, not just volleyball.
