- More than half of people think Britain is “moving in the wrong direction”, according to a poll which shows a drop in favourability for Sir Keir Starmer and his Cabinet.
The poll by Ipsos, conducted between August 9-12, showed a post-General Election drop in the perception of the Prime Minister, as well as his deputy Angela Rayner and Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
Of those polled, 22% said that they think things in Britain are heading in the right direction, 52% in the wrong direction and 19% neither.

Out of 48.2 million eligible voters, 60% actually cast a vote in the General Election. Therefore, 29 million actually bothered to vote and 19.2 million did not. Out of those 29 million who did vote, 19 million did NOT vote Labour. Only 9.7 million out of an electoral roll of 48.2 million voted Labour. I have come to the conclusion something is inherently wrong with our so called "democracy." How can anyone say with all honesty, the present PM represents the people of the UK??

What the voting does achieve is to select the most popular out of a list of unpopular options. The system is not the cause of this. The lack of good options (i.e. good politicians, parties, manifestos) is the cause.

The British people are disenfranchised and don't feel like voting makes a difference. So people have stopped voting. Not great, but it's the consequence of consecutively poor governments.

52% of how many people? These polls never release how many people were involved in the poll. It could be 1000 people bearing in mind this poll was done between the 7th to the 9th of August and on the 7th of August they put out another poll result that stated only 30% were dissatisfied with two tier kier. I live in a labour voting dominated area of the UK, so i didn't vote, but almost everyone i know who voted labour said they will never vote for this party again.

My late father (who was NOT a tool maker), was a Labour voter his entire life, he passed away in the 90's. He would not recognise this Labour party now, nor vote for them either.

I believe all of the three need to keep the public updated on how governmental plans are implemented and how the manifesto promises are applied. There is some sort of hiding and they are accountable on how the country goes forward.

if these polls are conducted in a nice leafy suburb of surrey that's about right, try a poll in one of the coastal towns that are now dumps for immigrants, or an innercity council estate that's a no go area for police - i think you'll get more than 52% there...

Reeves is currently working on ways to remove cash from anyone who doesn't work as working people are not going to have their taxes raised according to Starmer. That leaves pensioners, the disabled/long term sick and anyone who has saved any money to pay more presumably, if they have any money left.
Well Reeves has already stated on the pensioners to help fund uncosted pay rises to the junior doctors, Aslef and soon the RMT. These will be followed by upping payouts to GPs and dentists and no doubt
civil servants too.

I'd suggest the 'poll' is being generous towards 2TK and the Labour party.
