I keep finding myself coming back to this video after first discovering it about 5 years ago. How he plays this piece, how gentle and soft the colors and emotions are--just gorgeous, and I have yet to find another version like it. So beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Same! And now I've discovered Luke Faulkner, can't believe they're friends! 😃
I have a family connection to the composer - Fritz Kreisler - of the original song. He used to call at my father's house when he was growing up. My father's mother was a singer, and she met Kreisler at a concert. He used to perform with a little dog by his heels. I've always adored waltzes, so I wish I could have been there to hear this entire concert.
There are two kinds of people:
thoses who love classical music because they watched Shigatsu wa kimi no uso,
and those who watched Shigatsu wa kimi no uso because they love classical music
Night Fury I’m in the mixed since I liked classical music before watching the anime but after the anime it just made me realize just how much I really do enjoy classical music
I watched the anime after I read all of these comments
I'm in the middle, i like animes and I love listening to classical music. So it just led to like anime that classical music is the central point even more.
@@ashleybanegas488 same for me
i watched it for the pain
Weeaboo or virtuoso pianist, as long as we're all here enjoying the same music then it doesn't matter why we're here just enjoy
Jaylen Barzola And not bombard the comment with the anime
ah yes, i agree, half the comments are about the anime, the other half: people angry that others came here cos of anime. You could'nt have said it better everybody should see this comment
As someone who loves classical music even before watching shigatsu wa kimi no uso, it's sometimes annoying how the fans floods the comment section, but at the same time i'm grateful that the anime made many people appriciate classical music.
+Paulyn Demdam that's, finally for good or bad that anime help to introduce people to this wonderful world of music, it's just other way to come...I think
majority of youtube comments sucks anyway so i don't see the point of complaining about the shigatsu fan comments
There's nothing wrong if an anime brought you to classical music. What people find annoying is that they came here merely because of an anime and they dont seem to respect the classical music. They dont really know much about classical music than the one that are in the anime.
Well said! Thumbs up. Guys this needs to be the top comment.
+iClassic perhaps. but it's still a good introduction to classical music. I mean even the composer himself must have written the music out of some contexts. sometimes you need a context to interpret the music in a certain way.
For those hating on people who commented " Shigatsu wa kimi no Uso brought me here or something "
That anime greatly promoted and brought youths back to the age of Classical music , showing them how beautiful classical music is . One example is me , ever since the release of that anime i've been listening to Classical piano arrangements of all sorts and i'm addicted to it
After that anime i probably started to drop anime and play more piano (classical pieces). This anime was really effective and did change my lifestyle a bit. I "hated" classical pieces until i heard love sorrow and my gawd, the amount of hours i spent playing it over and over again. Never knew classical music was so nice so yes thank you shigatsu for showing me a different side of life, a life with beautiful music.
Maki Nishikino Okay, all that is nice and dandy but could they stop reiterating the same annoying crap? I watched the anime and it was nice and all but these are doing it just for the sake of appearing intelligent or some shit because they listen to classical music.(And I bet that most didn't even bother delving deeper than what was shown in the anime.)
I've always loved classical music, I'd listen to it whenever I did homework or studied. Since I'd already watched anime, my friends told me about your lie and I was totally getting goosebumps watching them perform. This is definitely a great piece and I wish children today wouldn't think classical music is boring.
12monicat that show made me play my violin more. I know it was mostly piano music but that girl inspired arima and me to play again, with a purpose and that playing music is better than speaking sometimes. Music can transtead in to words.
+Momonim “Meshyl” m soo true! I just bought myself a piano, and i can relate to the lifestyle change thing. For years I'd been wasting my free time watching random videos or browsing or gaming or just lazing around and lamenting about the work I had to do. This anime drastically changed that and now I spend every second doing something I TRULY want to do, such as rediscovering the passion in music I had lost so long ago and stop trying to fit into a "cool" culture as I realise life is too short to be what others expect you to be. Just be the perfection of what you truly want to be, after all "you are you". :-)
Coming from a pianist, this piece is extremely difficult, and you nailed it, my god. This sounds beautiful, and you portrayed the emotion so vividly an perfect. The person who played that piano probably won't see this comment, but that was a breathtaking performance. Extremely well done.
Thank you very much!
Wow. Never knew Mark Ruffalo could really play the piano.
bootycrust A NORMAL COMMENT :DDD
lmao
Someone that doesnt say something about the anime, thank you
The sun is getting low, the sun's getting low..
As Nat whispers, little Bruce sleeps on her lap. Natasha is playing the piano
Pretty sure that's human Shrek
One of the best interpretations of this piece that I've ever heard. Makes me a little teary eyed
Honestly, one of the most romantic interpretations I've found on utube. Much appreciated.
Isaac Tan lol a weeb got a heart great job man
I can see in the comments that loads of people have heard this through your lie I April. And I admit, I love how the anime acknowledges that some of us(including me) hear music and can hear the emotions and intentions behind it. Thats what I live about music. This song for me is the frustration of losing a loved one, the memories and feelings that tumble over another one another. And the slow realization that they will always be with you. Love, anger, sadness, moving on, it's all in this peice!!
As a 13 year old, maybe my judgment is clouded..
The way this man plays is very interesting. By the sound of it, he is trying to tell the story, and has a love and dedication with the piano that is unique to him.
well said. are you also a pianist?
+DEMONICRANG3R 69 not really. I have taught myself to read music and I have taught myself up to grade 2.
I have just started violin, and I'm very passionate about beginning to learn.
I'm said because I don't that ability =\
gerson hernandez I am trying to buy a piano but I need better glasses first
gerson hernandez I'm serious
shigatsu wa kimi no uso makes people go listen to classical music :))
nodame cantabile did it first :)
but i agree, that shigatsu is an awesome anime. it's soo good, it makes ninjas go into my room and start cutting onions beside me.
Risvegliare R me too, damn ninjas get me everytime!
kids on the slope* and you will fall in love with bill evans
the MASTER!!!!
damn it, i've been caught
lol.......ya got me..
This interpretation is brilliant! The staccatos are super crisp, the legatos are like butter, and the fingering looks more complicated than the code needed to hack the Pentagon. Hats off to you, good Sir.
Rachmaninoff really did convey love's sorrow in this masterpiece. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this amazing piece of music. *wipes tears*
i won't die until i can perfectly play this! >.
+Karma and please do post it on youtube when you mastered it :D
Me too bro
+Karma I'll be rooting for you! I know that very feeling for I''m currently trying to play this too.
+Karma same
Karma lol your profile picture and your comment had me cracked up.
"Will it reach her? I hope it reaches her.”
The pianos tone is perfect for this piece. Phenomenal playing as well
Thank you for your comment!
Thanks to *your Lie in April * I really get to know how amazing classics can be, I get to know the power of music and the emotions it spread. It's wasn't the storyline of the anime that made me cry but the music related to the storyline did
Thank you! Beautiful comment!
Yes
I may have been brought to this artist because of anime but I can still hear the music for what it is absolutely beautiful. Bringing out emotions that's what the composer's wanted and every artist afterwards tries to do the same.
This song is so beautiful. Listening to it made me go back to piano classes. I want to be able to move people through this song they way that it moved me. Soon, I will be able to play this song. The piano has become a part of me now.
the clarity, the wise padelling, the inner voices, the relaxed and therefore musical tempo, all that makes this a wonderful performance, together with 'Liebesfreud', thank you Karen! I don't know why it took me so long to discover this..
Thank you much for your comments!
I've been playing piano all my life and I'll admit that your lie in April did bring me to love composers like liszt and chopin and such so thank you anime ❤️
akatsukibri maybe u can't believe that but I'm really teary right and I'm trying to not cry.. Because reading all those comments and feeling the love and passion and honesty of ppl talking about shigatsu bringing them here and on top of that reading your comment specially makes me cry because all I ever wanted is to learn to play and be a pianist I'm already a singer but I've not found anyone to pay for and teach me piano so I really feel jealous of u right now 💔💔💔🎼
I have listened to many versions of this piece and have started learning it myself. I definitely like this piece played much slower to Demonstrate the rich notes involved. God this is a beautiful piece.
Thank you! Welcome to my RUclips channel!
This song made me cry like a baby and i can see how this could inspire someone to be a pianists, it sounds so pretty and delicate like magic. To me it feels like dancing in a garden with someone precious.
As a musician and a otaku. I am happy to see people who started playing instruments and starting to like classical music (also jazz) because of anime. Given namely
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
Sakamichi no Apollon and I forgot the other one 😰😰😰
Nodame contabile?
+Andre Santos Thanks for reminding me
F*ck Dude tought I was the only one who came here because of That Anime :'(
The only reason why i like this song is because it came from your lie in april
y'all weebs makin' me cringe
It kind of makes me sad that my folks only know classical through anime. I have been listening to classical since I was Kousei's age when he started playing the piano. It's beautiful and endless. Anyways, this sounds very beautiful. Makes me inspired honestly.
+zeron82411 Anime introduces people to sports, art forms, and even beliefs while opening discussions for some people who may not experience these things if they haven't seen these types of anime. When I was growing up playing the viola, my friends, who loved anime, wondered why I played viola and why classical music was still around. After this anime, I was actually contacted from a few of my old middle school friends asking me to introduce them to other pieces and composers. Some people grow an appreciation not only for the anime, but for the art work as well.
+kimkishineegirl well said
+zeron82411 Shouldn't be sad. It doesn't matter at which age a person starts to take a liking to music as beautiful as this. What matters is that they like it, and anime is just another way of exposing good music to ppl.
bitch I just know the anime because of classical music and not reverse :p
don't be so close minded
+zeron82411 People hear of things in different ways. Not everyone grew up in a household that offered an opportunity to hear things like this. :) SHould be happy that people are getting inspired and are listening!!
My reason for coming here cos I love the composers music. My grandfather always use to play this song for me when I was little. So Your lie in April has nothing to do with me AT ALL!
One of my favorite pieces, I could listen to this song forever
This would be the first time I have ever cried to a song
Rather Unique its pretty amazing not gon lie
this is really beautiful. how can this music makes me feel so many emotions?
This is so beautiful. I love this performance.
So much feels in this music piece.
your lie in april reminded me of the name of this song i couldn't remember the name for like 2 years xD
I love your lie in April so much, and that is what brought me to becoming a classical music lover. besides that the beauty and just everything about it attracts me to this piece. it is hard to actually picture what the original pianist was feeling to make such a heart filled piece of art. thank you kousei, kaori, and just your lie in April for teaching me what beauty can be. and really beauty can come on different forms. their form, this firm is the most beautiful beautiful cam get. I love this song and the answer me so much my words can't express it
same, I started liking classical music because I watched your lie in april.
Same for the sake of Kaori Lmao
this is romantic/modern - period music though
Awesome performance. Clear as cristal. Love it!
great amounts of feelings added into this piece.
I bet the uploader is so confused with all the shigatsu wa kimi no uso hype on this vid xD
Katia Muchailov lmao 😂
Katia Muchailov OMG you're right 😂😂😂 they will be like " wtf is that shigatsu thing?!" but at the end I think they will be so thankful for shigatsu when they know that because the anime had this music in it everybody now came to listen and war this vid
kou kun yupp you are right😏 I will never know if this music exist if I don't watch shigatsu kimi no uso.
Lmao
I only listen to classical music from time to time. I neither knowable in instruments nor enthusiast that search everything about the piece, but this piece breaks my heart. Like how the song started with sadness yet the end was peaceful. It's like telling something that used to be so fun yet it faded and ended, the emotions is overwhelming! He was happy yet sad, it's sweet but then it became bitter. I can feel the sadness, it pierces into my heart. There was anger or conflict but it subsided bc of love. Acceptance was what I think of the end of the piece.
Idk what is the correct interpretation for this but, this is how i interpreted it.
I totally love it!
Wonderful performance!!!
good performance, relaxed and without unnecessary speed
Sim
Amen
Sim
did it reach her?
bubbaXzone we hope so :)
No
reach hu? o.O
+Vanessa Lee i think hes talking about "Shigatsu wa kimi no uso" its an anime, im not sure tho.
ohhh ic....
Gracias!
Amazing piece of music here, u really can feel the emotion that the musician wanted to bring out
Who was also brought here because it's great classical music
why are all the comments about: "shigatsu wa kimi no uso" instead of how beautiful the music is?
Well seems like everybody who commented that came from that anime which is a boy who lost the ability to " hear the notes " and restarted playing piano after he met a fantastic girl. can't help with it XD
there's also Chopin's pieces in that anime
KusarigamaEx that sounds like really awesome or like really awful (the series i mean)
samuel Kapelle depands , the story has sad moments and awesome and emotional moments .
Anime is very great though !
KusarigamaEx i looked into it, it really is a great anime.
is your profile pic zoro from one piece?
A thing I love about music is that a song can stick to a moment in your life, so when you listen to that song after a long time it brings back all the memories and the feelings that lay into you.
such beautiful music..!
Great performance, amazing fingerwork, it's like you're sliding across the keys. I'd have interpreted a bit differently- it's amazing nonetheless. :)
Prochy ... took over 30 comments to find a single one about the performance itself *pours a glass of bleach*, btw any recommendation about which pianist's interpretation of this piece you liked best?
Miyamoto Musashi I liked the way Saki played this piece, ( Kousei's mom), not sure who did that performance but whoever did, captured the style of the piece perfectly, probably better than Rachmaninoff himself.
Harry Szaniszlo Rachmaninoff rushed so fucking bad
A normal comment lol thank god ahha
@@taki4707 It was played by Tomoki Sakata. Check it out, he also played Kousei's performance.
Beautiful interpretation!
I enjoyed it so much, thank you.
shigatsu wa kimi no uso
fuck yeah
yasssss!!!!!!!! haha
We're waiting for this, xDD
Rafael Blasco López
Me too! and so funny how every video has now a kimi no uso fanbase^^
Yes! I can't wait to hear the interpretation of Kaori and Kousei
Happy New Year, Karen! This is a stunning performance.
Thank you, Luke! Happy New Year!
Beautiful!
The sheer difficult of playing this piece is astonishing. Great Job!
I've been addicted to animes for a decade and i've been playing the piano for 7. Do you guys even realize how sad it is to check the comments and rarely see someone acknowledging or criticizing the player?
Sure, mention the anime and talk about it... but goddamit this is a piece created 150 years ago being played by an amazing pianist... how come ALL i see in this fucking comment section is about the fucking anime....
This anime opened our eyes to a whole new world of classical music. This discovery changed my view of life. I'd always be listening to classical music nowadays and I'm grateful for such people to play it for our sakes.
@@amjadhasan8291 the anime also broke everyone's heart.
I didnt like the first time I listened this piece played in piano
But that execution is much better, loved it! Still love the violin original more though.
Beautifully played
I need to practice piano now. Thanks for reminding me.
just watched the latest episode of Shigatsu wa kimi no uso. SO MUCH FEEEEELLS Q.Q
hello friend. episode 14! the emotional train just hit me in the face q.q
Lol i watched ep 13 and I have yet to watch 14, but my tears were washed away by the water from the shower head. Listening to this is bringing back the tears. 😢

Lol I'm always coming to these songs because of Shigatsu Wa kimi no Uso, and its pretty cool that this many people enjoy the songs that are played in the anime. And as someone that's been playing piano for eight years, Its really cool. You don't see many people that enjoy piano music at my age at all anymore...
Me to ...LOL XD
+Kaori Miyazono Euuh what are you doing here omg ! Is it your soul or what you're Supposed to be dead :o
it's Kaori Official LOL Xd
grace chong That's good and all, but why do ALL OF THEM FEEL LIKE TELLING EVERYONE WHAT THEY FEEL!?
HorseCockin - WorseRockin’s aborted son Does that mean nobody's gonna understand it? You know that there are mistakes in this world, right?
This is the best interpretation of the piece that I've found on youtube, I find myself coming back to it every time I want to listen to it...
Thank you very much!
KimiUso has greatly promoted classical music
Am i the only one that listens to this and Chopin Etude Op.25 No.5 while reading the manga for Shigatsu wa kimi no uso?
Well, hahaha, Nice Job (y)
Since the manga don't give audio (even if the manga is about musics)
When I Read it, it's like...
"This is the Music's Title, and..
Just hear it yourself. "
i do it too
Jay Leota nvm i see anime want to search all of the song that they play
Jay Leota The better question is am I the only one who actually even knew about this song before the anime.
Pref no 11
"Blow, O wind, where my beloved tarries, touch her first, and then me, too.
In thee our bodies touch one another, in the moon our glances are united. I dive into the waters of the sea and sleep deep alone;
there love's torments burn not the sleeper with glowing fire" - Ramayana
This is a very sensible and emotional interpretation of "Liebesleid". One of the very best I ever heard... in my opinion.
Me: "I swear to god if I see one comment about your lie in april-"

Ferndo is a ________ I was trying to find a comment about the performance and a "better performance" of this piece to see before considering if I want to spend all the time needed to learn this after rach's prelude in g minor, sadly all I got is "x brought me here, did it reach her" .-.
Ferndo is a ________ look BTW, never judge anything if you never know even anything about it
KimiDaYoKimiNandoDaYo OshieteKureta
stop trying to sound condescending just because you watched some anime, the problem isn't that an anime brought them here, it's that they for some reason feel the need to fill the entire comment section with their bile
Ferndo is a ________ I heeeeellaaaaaa agreeeee!
Typical snobbish pos.
Kosei you truly are an inspiration
wow to have to learn and play alll of that and so beautifully too
"shigatsu wa kimi no uso" brought me here

Otakus, otakus everywhere.
they are plague hahah
Jorge Luis Morton same
K so please listen to this: I also found this song through shigatsu wa kimi no uso, or the piano one at least. BUT. I don't overflow the comments with "SHIGATSU WA KIMI NO USOOOOO" "ARIGATOU" "HAJIMEMASTE WATASHI WA TOBIAS DESU" because that will break this video imo and I don't want the video or the song to be ascociated with anime... So please, keep it for yourself because it only makes things worse

I’m glad Your Lie in April brought people here to appreciate classical music. It was a great anime and I hope for it to continue connecting people to classical music and inspire more to take passion in music. Music really is beautiful.
Just marvelous. Love this piece. Sounds great👏👏👏💐

Hello
yup
I genuinely think this is the best video of this piece, truly full of feelings representation i just love it and it will forever be in my memory, that’s why i’m here, again, watching this after discovering it 6-7years ago, you are an inspiration.
Thank you very much!
This is beautiful
Is this pieces really difficult to play or am i bad ? Recently jz trying on this pieces ,first page took me almost 3weeks...
Siangspiano it’s really hard and it only gets harder
It's rachmaninoff, honestly what do you expect
The first page is the easiest section. Or one of the easiest anyway
Take one look at the youtube statistics of this video to understand just how powerful Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso really is. This is for all those fools saying "why shigatsu in the comments?"
Let me make this clear. This video got uploaded in 2013 December. BUT until january 2015, it had no more than a 1000 views, the line until October 2014 is FLAT DEAD.
But, co-incidentally (?) after Oct, 14, the line kept rising and rising and reached almost 400k views point.
Do you know what else is with Oct, 2014? It's the starting month of Shigatsu's original airing. From Oct, 2014 to its end, in March, 2015.
Let me make this clear to all you "Why anime otakus here, this is sacred classical region" fools, SHIGATSU MADE THIS VIDEO POPULAR. BEFORE SHIGATSU, THIS VIDEO DIDN'T HAVE MORE THAN ~1000 VIEWS. WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU CLASSICAL MUSIC FANS BACK THEN!?
I want to drop so many f bombs over you sons of bi****es but I'm worried of possible youtube censor. I Want every single one of you f*****ks to read this and then die. That's what you deserve.
---------
Oh, and if you believe that classical music should be spread forward to everyone out there, and that it doesn't matter how one is getting exposed to it, that it's the ultimate appreciation which matters, you are fine gentlemen and you may ignore whatever you have read so far. I admire people like you. :)
October, 2014. I'm sorry about writing 2015 instead. It's 2014.
HorseCockin - WorseRockin’s aborted son but for me the anime had introduced me to those wonderful music..and one of my favourite is love's sorrow and capriccioso. And I wouldn't know that these song exist until I watch your lie in april. And of course kouse (the main character) has inspired me to play piano.
So please don't look down on us just because we know this song through anime
I would be sitting there, in the middle of the audience, crying.
Watching with pure happiness.
Im glad that i have watched Your Lie in April because it changed my life forever. Now i love classical music, i even became a piano player myself ( i can't call myself a pianist yet ). Before that, i thought classical music is boring and for old people lol, but now classical music is a part of my life !.
Thanks a lot for your comment! Best wishes for you!
getting mad scrolling back up

I wonder if they had to switch cameras at 1:07 because of that little girl to the right... It looks like she was about to start picking her nose xD

My favourite piece of music! Gorgeous interpretation Mr Kornienko!
Thank you for your comment!
Wonderful job sir! You were amazing this night! What a beautiful talent! Thank you for telling your story. This affected me in a beautiful way! I'm crying because I love it so much!
this is my opinion.!! I LOVED THIS SONG BECAUSE SHIGATSU WA KIMI NO USO BROUGHT ME HERE....
JinAldrich Same with me😏
who came here because of Your Lie in April!
Me!!!
Same reason here!
me too ;)
me too!!!!!
Sorry, you are?
wow the coolest playing ever
Kornienko has a deep understanding of this masterpiece which escapes most pianists. Among the very best performances ranking alongside Horowitz and Howard Shelley.
Agree…His performance is absolutely fantastic🤩🤩🤩
+Paco Chinchilla gracias 😁☺️😘
