    I'm 58 going on 59 at some point I'm going to retire. I know people who have retired and fell apart because they had no idea what to do. They're lost. My plan is to do this in my retirement. I have a love for fine things and I enjoy looking and find these things. Being able to sell them to make money is just icing on the cake. Thanks for posting your video. This Friday I'm going to start my EBAY account I have to wait till pay day. I never been more excited to start a business than this one.

      I truly believe that if you do nothing, you don't last very long. So, 58 or 88, there has to be something to keep your brain active and engaged. This is a truly amazing way to supplement a retirement income. That's the reason we started treating it like a business. We never expected it to exceed my actual retirement income, but it has. You can do this.

    You're so right in finding joy in what you list. I have been a reseller since May and I have a store. This made me rethink what "junk" I'd listed in the beginning, and when I got hit with insertion fees, it made me go back and re-evaluate what I have. Now, I take pride in each and every piece, and find value in them. It works for selling like magic, you create a vibe...

    Glad you're up and going again! I'm look forward to this series. My wife and I just started doing the Ebay resale thing at the start of Q4 2023 with the idea of growing it into a full fledged business. Sourcing has started with things we had. I was a collector of things like comics, cards, video games, tabletop games, RPG and trading card games, figures and so on. My wife has an eye for the "kitschy, cutesy" stuff, as well as clothing and accessories. We have posted short vids on a cross platform base, things sold and selling, maybe graduating to full videos next year. Thank-you for what you do and look forward to your future content posts.

    Scot, so glad that you are up & moving again! Again, you hit another GRAND SLAM with this video! Breaking down Starting a Business into Phases or Steps, is such a practical approach to how to start a business off on a path with the greatest potential of success. Too many of us jump in without a plan or a goal! Those that do, quickly find ourselves drowning, in over our heads & without a clue as to what went wrong! It's so easy to not take the time or to overlook the importance of Setting Goals & asking yourself what you want your business to accomplish for you, & stopping at each "Phase" to assess what is working & what isn't! Great information & a good reminder that we need to be using these same basic principles in our lives & in our relationships as well! Thanks again sir, glad to see you back on your feet again! Merry Christmas to you & Melanie!

    ChaChingKing, I want to give you a sincere thank you. In August I had decided I wanted to give eBay a whirl. I watched a few videos before I found your tutorials. That was a game changer for me. Your videos made sense to me. I started to get cold feet and then in one of your videos you have the nudge I needed. Right now my 90 day total is at $592. I honestly thought I’d see 20-30 dollars a month from this. I have spent around $60 including a scale that you suggested. I’m having a blast doing this. I needed something to do. Sourcing at garage and estate sales has been fun. Bringing the items home and researching is fun. Posting them and seeing some of them sit and realizing I was a few dollars high, making the correction, and seeing the views and watches start stacking up is fun. The bit of money it yields is nice but the process has been awesome to participate in. Thank you sir.

    Scot, you recently told me (in a comment) that you had a feeling I'd soon be teaching. Lol. As you can see by my comment in this video to someone who is wanting to get started, but concerned about not being tech- savvy, I explained my age and lack of tech savvy. 😁 And I encouraged them to go for it. Like you, I'd much rather just teach people how to do this, instead of hiring an employee to help with listings, etc. It feels delightful, having learned just enough, in 3 months, to perhaps encourage other new resellers. P.S. So glad to see you're feeling better.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  4 месяца назад

      I am currently promoting at 2%. I'm not convinced it makes any difference at all. So, my opinion is...I'm not sure. Play with it and see if you think it makes a difference. On the second question, I've made over 17,000 sales and have never included a packing slip. No one has ever asked me for one. I know that some people use them and believe it looks professional. And, for them, that may be the case. For me, it's an extra step I've never taken and it's never come up.

    Ive been building and learning slowly over the past few months! Enjoying resselling, but in a small town as winter rolls in and garage sales sliw down it becomes harder to source. I do keep learning what I can pick up and sell but am wondering what your opinion is, and if you do any, ebay dropshipping?

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  7 месяцев назад

      The population in my town is 181. :-) And, you are right in that garage sales are few and far between when it gets colder here. I have worked really hard over the years to get private picks. I tell everyone what I do and make sure I treat them fairly when I get a chance to pick some place. I have my ChaChingKing eBay account set up to dropship my merchandise. But I truly don't push it (or really even tell people about it). I use that account to make my beginner videos from because it doesn't have a store subscription. Other than that, I don't do any dropshipping. It's a business model that I've never really had much interest in. I like the search for items every bit as much as the final sale. Dropshipping removes the treasure hunt. :-)

    I just discovered your eBay teaching tools. I’m curious do you have any videos that talk about being an eBay seller and also being a senior on Medicare. I know there are rules and limits. Is it worth it I don’t want to jeopardize my Medicare. I know you can’t give legal Advice I’m just looking for general information

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  6 месяцев назад

      I really don't personally know of anyone who goes into that. Besides, I wouldn't trust a RUclips video for that unless it is recent and was published by the government or Medicare specifically. Even if someone knew exactly how to do it, the numbers change and the videos stay on RUclips. So, they could easily be out of date. I'd go directly to someone at Medicare and ask what the income limits are.

I just did ground advantage because I have pirate ship, and use that for my TCG store. So, how do I know what to choose up front if Im not actually boxing it up yet, just storing it.
    By the way, taking pictures and doing inventory first, then listing after I get weight and eyeball dimentions for approx box size.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  8 месяцев назад +1

      It's great because someone had to actually take the time to watch it. So, they are interested for one reason or another. It isn't always because they want to buy it, though. Sometimes they are just interested in if it will sell or not. BUT, views and watchers are activity in your account. And few things bring in more sales than your store being active.

    I knew a man in the 70's who sold things out of his sports jacket. He made very good money and did not have a brick and mortar thing going on. He was a business man; buying at a discount and selling for a profit. His "store" was in his jacket... his customers were only the people he met and referrals. Everything he sold would fit into a watch or suit pocket.What could you do with the millions of people searching through eBay? Get into the stream!

    What would you recommend for protecting yourself as a seller selling higher priced designer items $800-$1800. Scams scare me because that would be a big financial loss

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  5 месяцев назад

      Obviously, it depends on the category you are selling in. I wouldn't sell video games that fall into that range on eBay. Way too many sketchy sales for me in that category. I feel almost at bad about most electronics. But, if I decide to sell something in that price range, I record the packing and shipping process and well as the return process (if there is one). I point out that I'm doing that in the listing to protect the buyer and ensure that they will get exactly the item picture. Further, I have a great relationship with my post office and could open any return without leaving the post office. Lots of folks say that all of that is useless. But, I feel like it gives me a measure of security.

      I'm sure that's incredibly frustrating. I find that I get the best results by reaching out to eBay for Business on Facebook. They seem incredibly responsive and they've always been able to help me.
      It's not possible for me to diagnose what's happening from here. There has to be something specific to your account that is causing it to get flagged. If you can get to the bottom of that, you may be able to get this resolved.
