    When considering one of these low price old homes always do a Google maps street view search. Some of them are old and cheap because they're in terrible neighborhoods, or 20 feet from a 7 lane highway or crack den. Also, take your estimate to restore and multiple by about 4 and you'll see what it will really cost to move in.

      Wow ! Well if the neighborhoods remained intact the houses would have as well. With the extreme rise in the cost of real estate some of these gems may become attractive . Many will never be restored to their former glory..but hey if they are stabilized they survive

      He doesn't always give information as to where these homes are. Some areas I wouldn't be interested in no matter what the sales price ends up being.

      Yes i pray they survive we just do not make them like we used to! Coojie cutter neighborhoods fill our cities and rural neighborhoods and we are losing quality and charm. I notice some " Discouraging Debbie Downers" around makes me wonder if they are either hoping to purchase themselves or put up a quick e mart in their locale. I hope we preserve as much history for future generstions to grow up and see what is possibike and be encouraged to think outside tat coojie cutter box of " fast food generatiobs" and be remubded of what has come before . What you see today is not all there is. Although some amazing things are beung done currently in architecture

    I live in Danville, VA. The Carter house been bought and renovations are taking place. The city tore down the James house. The Tally house is in better condition than pictured. It was recently bought then the owner sued the city for their money back because the city misrepresented it's condition. I believe, no promises, the Longwell house is still available.

    Plenty of homes like that in NY but it’s a high crime area with high property taxes. It’s why I didn’t look at it long.

    i want to do one so bad! not to flip but to live in. Unfortunately, they always want cash and I don’t have that. I’ve never bought a house before. I have a decent credit and I’ve taken out long in the past but everybody wants cash “as is”

    • @danettewilliams351
      @danettewilliams351 2 месяца назад

      One option with good credit is just a prrsonal loan. Some are cheap enough you could get a personal loan for such a low amount and just invest it back into the home so it will pass a apprisal to refi down the road a bit. non i have done pnre on a much smaller svale but also dream of doing a historical masterpiece!

    Restoring these homes is absurd. There would be nothing original left in them anyways. So it would be better to tear down and replicate them.
    Also, buying a home in America is the worse idea. You can buy a home in another country for less than the annual property taxes!

    That first house is a moldy, rotten disaster. You could buy a castle or chateau on many acres in France for less than it would cost to try and repair and restore that money pit home.

      Well i believe the point is to entice someone inetested in preserving AMERICAN HISTORY NOT Italian or French History. Also i havecheckrd into the deals they are offering that you must hold and redtore them in and for five years what they dont mention and people do not consider when restoting or preserving historical buildings abroad is the cost of supplies and the fact that they do not have a local Home Depot to run down on the corner for pkadter or nails ec.. I have friends who purvhased a vills and they have spent so much in flying back and forth and shipping the goods needed that should be consideted as eell as infastructure like city services like running water and the availibility of powe which is handy for power tools when restoring historical buildings.... And heat. because you are also required to live thete so many months out of the year in order to get the deal on alot of those properties. So much to consider when renovating and preserving history. No mattervwhere its done.

      @@danettewilliams351 yes, you’re absolutely right about all you said. I was just concerned for them and the expense of trying to restore a property that may be an endless expense and frustration. I love restoring old homes and preserving American history. I’m with you on that for sure. Just some properties are so rotted from neglect and the elements, they never recover fully unless they are completely rebuilt with all new everything, then it’s a new house at that point. You’re so right about the local Home Depot’s we’re accustomed to. Whatever problems we have in this Country, I’ll never leave it.

    Don’t buy an old stickbuilt house in any southern state]. Termite damage and infestation mean shit tons of insecticides after the gut and rehab of every bit of wood. So not worth it.

      What an absurd thing to say. Why would it matter to someone who does not cinsider the historical value in such things? Why pop up another cheapky cobstructed pos like ten others down the way? Or 250 others that wont last 30 yrs let alone 100+
