After I saw you use that Tri-Flow grease I went and bought some for my 3D printer. I'm very glad that it's listed as food safe because my dog ate the whole tube of it. It's been several days since and she hasn't shown any signs of distress, so I'm glad I saw and bought this stuff instead of some potentially harmful type. Also, she has a dog door, so I didn't have any cleanup if it gave her the squirts.
Dude...well done! Awesome hack! Thank you so much for sharing this! I had my old DX6x with a broken antenna lead. Took to my local hobby shop, only authorized shop in town that can repair and he tells me he can't fix it and system board is fried. I knew it was fine. Saw your video, bought a couple antennas from your link and now range test is off the hook. Can't wait to test fly my FT simply cub. Don't care if it goes down. Been having hold issues with my 8e and need to get some ammo to prove to Spektrum. Had 3 holds in 2 flights with my Eflite F16 and terrified to take it outta safe because of it. Now, I can test with the 6e, still get safe select and test for holds. Thanks man! Hell, I'll likely just nod the 8e once I figure out a good way to make it look better with both antennas.
Hi, thanks for all your amazing videos. I have checked them all and I am super excited because U R the only one who is using a Spektrum receiver... Yes!!!!!! I would like to see more tutorial videos like how to setup a Spektrum receiver with a flight controller and also want to know how you can use Telemetry. As I am new to this hobby and have the same transmitter I would appreciate that if you can make video's based on these things. Also what settings U use with the Quad and not only that but also how you have setup your transmitter in BetaFlight. A big thanx in advance :-)!
This will indeed really help a lot getting more range, cause a better and more efficient antenna. I would just be carefull and test the antenna with an antenna analizer, as I saw already ver bad constructed 2,4GHz antenna that are not resonant at 2,4GHz, and are high on swr... But if it's spot on then this mod will be a good effective upgrade. Thanks for the video !!! Yes I'm a ham radio operator ON3DIM
Hey Drew, do you know if the DX6 you were using was the newest one that has diversity? there are two, when the DX6 first came out it didn't have diversity. Then around the time the new DX8 G2 came out they changed the DX6 to add diversity. So I'm curious, if that DX6 was a newer one with diversity, if so then the comparison would be pretty similar to just doing a before and after. I've contemplated doing this mod several times but never got around to doing it as I've never had a failsafe with my DX6 or DX8 G2 and didnt want to risk doing it then start having failsafes. But these results look really good. Imagine if we can find a way to do two higher gain antennas that are perfectly tuned for our 2.4ghz radios. we could seriously increase range! :) love your channel! thanks.
Always have your antenna on the front of the aircraft. 😄 Also, I just did this mod tonight and made both antennas external. So far, it seems functional.
Hey Drew, thanks for some great content, just came across your channel today and watched a number of your clips. (Back injury and not much else to do) Really great to watch thanks.
Sorry to hear about your injury :( Makes me happy to think that I can help even a little to provide you with some entertainment while your down for a bit. Hope you make a speedy recovery
great vid. I am glad someone is covering spektrum for racing drones. I have dx8 gen2 and a taranis and I always go back to the spektrum. could you do a vid on setting up an arm switch / idle etc please. I have been using the same default switches forever ' it's like playing twister when trying to disarm 😂. plus, what's you view on the new spektrum telemetry receiver? thanks and have a good day. Scott from UK
Hey Drew, first off thanks for doing what you do, your videos are fantastic. Quick question, after using this setup for a while have you experienced any downsides to the higher gain antenna? Do you have to be more mindful of your position relative to the quad and dead zones in front or behind you? Have you experimented with any other antennas? Thanks again for sharing!
Nice video Drew! With spm4649t and the current airware, there is a workaround to have tone warnings on rssi (and voltage): go to the min/max screen of telemetry and click "clear"
thanks Nico. I've just become aware of this because of you and some others sharing with me :) I'm looking into it. Considering popping out a quick follow up people to help share with others
Hey you should try mounting a signal amplifier on there as well. FLYSKY guys do it because they like iBus and its relatively cheap. All the same signals and connections so it should work fine on a spektrum or a frsky too
lol, were you facing the same direction as the quad with your directional antenna on the goggles? It looks like you were pointing at 90 degrees from it! Probably why you lost video so early ;)
Le Drib how I can get the 3D printed part, I do have DX9 and I would like to have the same antenna, and where I can buy the antenna, thanks , I like all your video bro.
great video! i do like seeing spektrum info related to quads. i've recently slipped from spektrum to taranis and i agree that rssi telemetry with voice alerts is the one feature i like the most from frsky. have u tried getting rssi from the spektrum receiver on to an osd so u could see it visually when flying?
Can you pretty much hold your transmitter how ever you like? I have to have it at the perfect position on my lap or around my neck, this may be a beginner thing though, cool video thanks Drib!
no I'm actually quite picky about wanting it to be just right and usually have to use a neck strap or on my lap. But since I wasn't doing anything other than flying straight out and flopping around a bit it didn't bother me too much to have my hands all weird out the window lol
I just watched your last 2 videos and you answered all of my questions!! Thank you, for sure I am subscribing to you. Was there a loss of range with the 4649T or any downsides? I am going to buy one or the other sounds like it would be worth it while waiting for the update.
thank you :) No loss of range with 4649T. Its a great receiver. No plastic case, which is an upside in my book because I decase the 4648 anyway to have more flexibility with antenna routing.
just didnt want to deal with having to attach two antennas and thought the dual mount just looked even more ridiculous haha I guess one giant antenna is bad enough I should've just gone all the way I might do the second one in the future but wanted to start with one and see how it worked.
Have you by chance gotten to test again with the SRXL2 DSMX SPM4651T receivers what the range is like? I'm setting up a FPV plane, and am wondering if this will work or if I should switch to some other Transmitter/Receiver setup?
And there was me thinking you'd say "Siri, play Justin Timberlake bring sexy back". Seemed much more appropriate. Excellent video, as always. Thanks for taking the time.
Hi, How did the antenna mod go? Taranis users suggest using RG316 cable cut to a specific length (84mm). I noticed you didn't mention any specific wire or length, do you know what it is for a spectrum?
Don't all Spektrum transmitters feature a range test function with reduced power? This is good for a range of about 30 meters. Suggestion: Program a beeper in betaflight and walk away from your non-flying (!) quad until you can no longer turn on/off the beeper. Do that with both the old and new antenna to get a quantitative measure of the improvement (like 20% more range or whatever it turns out to be).
Hi Dr Evil Genius, we really need your help! We have a DX9 and under the main spectrum chip that is white with a barcode at 4:08 minutes, we have 2 grey cables soldered to the PCB that do not connect to anything else ? Any ideas what they may be?
I wonder if you could run a longer cable and externally mount your transmitter antenna? You could couple that with an external diversity module and then fly FPV without range issues from inside the car. I bet someone has done that.
By adding a longer antenna to the transmitter, you have changed the impedance of the antenna. They are no longer matched to the radio. Without the proper equipment, its would be hard to show you what is going on. I can tell you the longer antenna is overpowering the antenna in the handle. It would have been better to do that with the older gen 2 Dx6 than using the newer DX6 gen 3. I wouldnt recommend it at all on the duel antenna system.
Hello! I'm just a beginner and I would do like to have your opinion about the Spektrum DX6 or up, like the XD8 for Gliders as the Fly Fly ASW 28 which I guess are the models with the "simple" setups and commands comparing with Race Drones, Helis and other kinds of more complex models. By the way I am planing to have all setup with Spektrum products, transmitters, servos etc etc. So what are you think, the long range antenna will be a plus too? Thank you very much!
I think the high gain antenna can benefit all aircraft. It just becomes more important that the side of the antenna and not the tip is pointed toward the craft
I got removed from the Official Spektrum FB group for posting a link to this mod . So then I mentioned it on the FrSky group & received a lot of Bitching about it before it was removed from their group page too . I think it's a good idea & am going to do it anyway but was looking for advice , but I'm not going to get it .
This is awesome.. I wonder if I can do the single 5db antenna mod to my dx6 or dx8 black addition? thanks for this video and if you have any idea if it will work on my 2 radios let me know bud. thanks again buddy Farmer
yup, the only difficulty is on your dx6 or dx8, the antenna cover might be a part of the main plastic shell... so you might have to do some cutting or get creative. If you do it let me know how it goes!
Le Drib I will let you know. I just got a camouflage wrap for it that looks awesome now just need to order the antenna. do you have the link to the one you bought? cheers Farmer
Why do people who fly quads only, think Spektrum has range issues, when there are thousands of pilots using Spektrum on very expensive Heli's and 3D and giant scale planes with out issue? Go to a large flying event and try to find a Taranis on those flight lines. I fly a DX9 and have never had an issue with my planes or quads, and I use mostly clone RX's and a few Spektrum racing Sats.
Will this mod not damage the radio? I know vtxs should not be powered up without an antenna but constantly removing the antenna and putting it back on they eventually wear out and won’t make contact anymore burning your vtx out.
I think I will leave my DX9 stock I use it for wings and other fixed wing aircraft I have flown 1 mile with no problem but orientation sucks, and I fly in a flat open area in the Texas panhandle. The Taranis for for my quads I want to hear the RSSI. Still would love to see the shoot out between you and your friend on range.
Not sure where you did this but my stock Spektrum dx9 reaches out further than a third of a mile . The closer you are to the ground the worse the signal will be on 2.4 . Maybe the improvement is when flying low ? I dont really see any reason to do this
yup! As far as I know all Spek radios use the same connectors so it should be the same. HOWEVER, a problem with some of the radios (like the dx6) is the antenna cover being a part of the main shell... so you will have to do some cutting
Hey bud reporting back, the mod worked on the dx6 bkack edittion no problem i didnt have to cut anything or nothing if i want to go back to the stock antenna i can real easily the way i did it. wish i had some how to show you pictures i should of done a how to on the dx6 just like you did on your dx9.
Le Drib yeah it has a big plastic nut on the bottom twist it off and the top of the antenna comes off. super easy then put a bigger washer on top and bottom the screw it together simple. 😉
I've replaced my antenna of my dx6i because I broke it, just bought the stock one, and got now really bad reception. If I go behind a tree it los signal....
you need to pull out the ground station for video and try the building loop. I have the serial telemetry receiver as well...and ran into the same problem...whats the use spectrum?
It should work but with only a tone warning and you have to do a clear at the min/max page every flight. Has been a work-around. Haven't tested it yet. Still su*ks
You could upgrade the gimbals from potentiometers to hall effect gimbals. Wait forgot that's frsky :p but I did have a quick question why keep the original as a 2db and change the 2nd one to the 5db as a whip you would have had the height benefits of the 2db but also gotten the range from the 5db in something that didn't look so odd and wonky.
I want to do an antenna mod on my DX8 is this still the best antenna for the Mod? have you tried any other antennas? you said the antenna you used is 8dbi, do ya know the stock dbi?
stock is 2dbi. No I haven't really played with antennas much since switching to the iX12 which I haven't done the antenna mod on. And now I just use Crossfire if I want to fly far :/
@@LeDribFPV that's cool I don't think Crossfire works with the DX8 please correct me if I'm wrong and I think the antenna mod might be cheaper which is better for me lol Crossfire would be sick though
Have a litle problem my ailien frame hvith full kiss setup ( first modell kissFC) I have a spektrum IX20 and an spm 4650 hvith SRXL V2 protokoll and i cant get it to wark hwit the kissFC. I have flassed the latest firmwhere on it but notting i wander hvetre to solder it and can kissFC talk srxlv2 ?
I thought the dx6 switches were Metal too but they're actually just coated plastic. But yes dx6 and dx9 are similar. Some say the dx9 gimbals are better but I think the 6s feel good too
Cool, Since your a Spektrum user, What other receivers do you like? I like the Spektrum ones but looking for something a bit cheaper. Ive seen the Lemon RC ones on line and have heard them mentioned but never have used. Will the Similar satellite ones connect like the SPM4648 or do they have to connect to another receiver first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I used to use Lemon RX diversity satellites, they work well. The SPM4648 do run on the 3.3v satellite voltage and have auto-bind (plug in drone before transmitter and it goes into bind mode) All I use now is the SPM4649T. A little more pricey but runs on 5V like "normal" receivers and also has telemetry for RSSI low alert etc
I just got one of them in the mail, but haven't installed it yet. Waiting to install on my newest build. I am tired of loosing signal and dropping out of the air. I once thought a gravel pit was going to be awesome place to fly.... Until i went behind that huge mound of earth. That and snow banks i cannot penetrate a signal.,
oh hey, one more thing. I had a Mach 25 that i destroyed, and at the time parts were not available yet to i parted it out, but now i have the receiver/FC The A3174. do you know of any other uses for it?
Yo, dribble. Have you ever considered a 2w booster? I'm getting ready to test out a strix goblin and a partner who does fpv heli long range has been successful with the 2w mini booster from bang good.
Slimer FPV Booster for???? Increasing range??? I am adding an audio booster to the speaker, it will add better tone and clear up any sound issues the radio may have sound wize. I was going to add it to the dx6 gen 2 I got on E- bay but I got scammed with a defective unit.
hello i have dx6 with spm4648 reciver... and i have lost signal at 80meter.... its normal? i wanna do this antenna mod,but i think dx6 have problem ;( (brand new spm4648)
Was very curious about that low signal warning. Thanks for covering that! Look forward to an update.
Excellent vid Drew! I'm a Spektrum user and I have been planning to do the antenna mod as well, your video will help. Thanks!
I love your vids!!! It blows me away that your skills didn't qualify you when you were in new york. You're awesome keep doing what you love.
After I saw you use that Tri-Flow grease I went and bought some for my 3D printer. I'm very glad that it's listed as food safe because my dog ate the whole tube of it. I did this mod on my Futaba 8fgs and it has the same connectors so you don't have to solder. Works great!

Higher gain antennas will have different radiation patterns and so antenna position/orientation becomes critical....

Jus found this. I fly spektrum and am Happy. I have a dx6e and gonna go this! I hope it helps with range. What kind of gain did u get?
Always have your antenna on the front of the aircraft. 😄 Also, I just did this mod tonight and made both antennas external. So far, it seems functional.

Should be back up and at work in about 6 weeks, just realized how good your background music is.
Keep it up and thanks again for what you do.

Great video, any specific reason you picked 6dbi antenna instead of 9dbi?
Hi Drew, is there a point of using to higher gain antenna with this mod or just the higher the gain the longer the distance? Love the vlogs.
I've just become aware of this because of you and some others sharing with me :)
I'm looking into it. Considering popping out a quick follow up people to help share with others
The stock taranis gets that distance and further in open area but I am impressed with your video quality and range compared with mine.
yup hard to compare because my area was an intentionally noisy one
Le Drib yeh it's hard. thanks for the videos and the time it takes.
Hey you should try mounting a signal amplifier on there as well. FLYSKY guys do it because they like iBus and its relatively cheap. All the same signals and connections so it should work fine on a spektrum or a frsky too
I did this antenna mod, and it worked great!
sweet! glad to hear it worked for ya :)
👍
On my dx7s this "mod" reduces my range for bout 1/4 :/
lol, were you facing the same direction as the quad with your directional antenna on the goggles? It looks like you were pointing at 90 degrees from it! Probably why you lost video so early ;)
The antenna mod is great but that 3D printed thing is huge!!
lol yeah its extra ridiculous
Le Drib how I can get the 3D printed part, I do have DX9 and I would like to have the same antenna, and where I can buy the antenna, thanks , I like all your video bro.
can you go back to stock to compare the stock dx9 range
Did you test your radio range before you midified the antenna
great video! i do like seeing spektrum info related to quads. i've recently slipped from spektrum to taranis and i agree that rssi telemetry with voice alerts is the one feature i like the most from frsky. have u tried getting rssi from the spektrum receiver on to an osd so u could see it visually when flying?
Not possible to get RSSI to OSD from Spektrum brand receivers apparently. I guess there's a hack way to do it with the lemons
You should make a dummy load to put on the transmitter so after you take off the main antenna you don't accidentally mess up the transmitter.
yup I have a dummy load. I mention it at the end :)
Sorry i guess I don't see that:)
Did the updates happen for Rssi warning?
For an Audio update on the DX9
Works on mine ... great vid .
I just watched your last 2 videos and you answered all of my questions!! Thank you, for sure I am subscribing to you.
Was there a loss of range with the 4649T or any downsides? I am going to buy one or the other sounds like it would be worth it while waiting for the update.
thank you :)
No loss of range with 4649T. Its a great receiver. No plastic case, which is an upside in my book because I decase the 4648 anyway to have more flexibility with antenna routing.
final question for now, why didn't you replace both antennas? I saw the double mount on thingiverse. I would think it would be best to do both.
just didnt want to deal with having to attach two antennas and thought the dual mount just looked even more ridiculous haha
I guess one giant antenna is bad enough I should've just gone all the way
I might do the second one in the future but wanted to start with one and see how it worked.
Have you by chance gotten to test again with the SRXL2 DSMX SPM4651T receivers what the range is like? I'm setting up a FPV plane, and am wondering if this will work or if I should switch to some other Transmitter/Receiver setup?
Hey drew, do you ever think your gonna come to los angeles and maybe do a group flight?
I'd love to :)
Nothing planned as of now but I'm working to see whats possible this year
Sounds good, just let me know if you ever head out here would love to fly with one of my favorite youtubers
And there was me thinking you'd say "Siri, play Justin Timberlake bring sexy back". Seemed much more appropriate. Excellent video, as always. Thanks for taking the time.
hahah
Great video. I'm in Waterford, hope to see you in the field sometime.
Thanks again for another informative video. Awesome
Hi,
How did the antenna mod go?
Opening the TX, did you notice if the Orange led was somewhat changeable? I'd like to change that orange led for another color
Does this mod really increase range by a lot? Or should I just get a tbs crossfire?
I wonder if you could run a longer cable and externally mount your transmitter antenna? You could couple that with an external diversity module and then fly FPV without range issues from inside the car. I bet someone has done that.
good thinking ;)
Le Drib RcTestflight did that and mounted a wood plate to the top of his car and put the recievers for fpv
Schumata Yes, they have
By adding a longer antenna to the transmitter, you have changed the impedance of the antenna. They are no longer matched to the radio.
Without the proper equipment, its would be hard to show you what is going on. I can tell you the longer antenna is overpowering the antenna in the handle. It would have been better to do that with the older gen 2 Dx6 than using the newer DX6 gen 3. I wouldnt recommend it at all on the duel antenna system.
good job man great experiment
Just get the Taranis 9 or 7. Go on you know you want to. Hey just a thought If you get the white XQ7 you could do a mascara job on it :)
😂
ahh ok thanks
Yeah I believe there was a hack way to get lemon RX receivers provide RSSI to an OSD, but so far not possible with genuine Spek

I think it's a good idea & am going to do it anyway but was looking for advice , but I'm not going to get it .
This is awesome.. I wonder if I can do the single 5db antenna mod to my dx6 or dx8 black addition? thanks for this video and if you have any idea if it will work on my 2 radios let me know bud.
thanks again buddy
Farmer
Farmer Fpv yeah you can they run the same tx boards
yup, the only difficulty is on your dx6 or dx8, the antenna cover might be a part of the main plastic shell... so you might have to do some cutting or get creative. If you do it let me know how it goes!
MultiDragola thanks bud 😎
Le Drib I will let you know. I just got a camouflage wrap for it that looks awesome now just need to order the antenna. do you have the link to the one you bought?
cheers
Farmer
I used this amzn.to/2mPNcNr
Thanks for the informative video Drew! I'm going to check out the components you've listed to do this mod on my dx6👍🏼
awesome! Good luck, be careful and take your time.
And let me know how it goes!
Because model fliers never fly their model behind trees, building and above the cloud but FPV miniquad does.
Will this mod not damage the radio? I know vtxs should not be powered up without an antenna but constantly removing the antenna and putting it back on they eventually wear out and won’t make contact anymore burning your vtx out.
Hey Drew does the antenna wires have to be a certain size or no???
I think I will leave my DX9 stock I use it for wings and other fixed wing aircraft I have flown 1 mile with no problem but orientation sucks, and I fly in a flat open area in the Texas panhandle. The Taranis for for my quads I want to hear the RSSI.
Still would love to see the shoot out between you and your friend on range.
yeah I want to get a shoot out going. Hopefully we can do that soon
Is this worth trying on an dxe?
Not sure where you did this but my stock Spektrum dx9 reaches out further than a third of a mile . The closer you are to the ground the worse the signal will be on 2.4 . Maybe the improvement is when flying low ? I dont really see any reason to do this
i did the double antenna mod with some 8di antennas, it was cool but got lazy of taking antennas on and off.
went back to stock?
yeah went back to stock, when i switched over to spektrum sats instead of using lemons.
Did you really have to remove my picture from your lamp to make this video :( thanks man doing the mod!
Those trim switches though!!! 👌🏼
😍 lol
Huh, nice video, very informative Drew! Just for reference I've been about 2000 ft. (.39 miles) away with stock Taranis antenna. Interesting to see.
very impressive! Were you getting RSSI critical alerts yet?
Le Drib No, didn't get a single one.
Why is your rf board showing 0.00bm? My dx6 is 18dbm nearly 10 times the output. Can anyone clarify why
why did you choose 6dbi instead of 8?
By any chance could I do this mod with a dx6? btw great video.
yup! As far as I know all Spek radios use the same connectors so it should be the same.
HOWEVER, a problem with some of the radios (like the dx6) is the antenna cover being a part of the main shell... so you will have to do some cutting
Le Drib k thanks man. I might just get a dx9 or I might cut the antenna top off.😀
the sleer fpv I did this mod a few weeks ago with my dx6. The antenna is actually separate and it works perfect.
Le Drib no cutting needed on the dx6 the antenna is separate once you pull it apart.
Phat Kid awesome man I appreciate your help! Definitely going to start on that!
great work Drew, thanks and keep it up.
Thanks man. The encouragement really helps :)
what if you used a shorter pigtail? I think the length of the pigtail could effect the range?
potentially! Still have more to learn about RF and such
Hey bud reporting back, the mod worked on the dx6 bkack edittion no problem i didnt have to cut anything or nothing if i want to go back to the stock antenna i can real easily the way i did it. wish i had some how to show you pictures i should of done a how to on the dx6 just like you did on your dx9.
That's awesome! I'm surprised you didnt have to cut the DX 6, every pic I've seen shows the antenna cover to be part of the case. But it detaches?
Le Drib yeah it has a big plastic nut on the bottom twist it off and the top of the antenna comes off. super easy then put a bigger washer on top and bottom the screw it together simple. 😉
Fuck! I unscrewed that nut and still couldn't get the thing off. I just drilled a hole in the top of the case.
mooosestang damn mine came off easy.
I've replaced my antenna of my dx6i because I broke it, just bought the stock one, and got now really bad reception. If I go behind a tree it los signal....
Is he wearing manscara?
Can you sell your antenna 3D adapter
you need to pull out the ground station for video and try the building loop.
I have the serial telemetry receiver as well...and ran into the same problem...whats the use spectrum?
hope they fix it soon! The radio just needs to be capable of using RSSI as an input for an alarm so no reason they can't add it via an update
It should work but with only a tone warning and you have to do a clear at the min/max page every flight. Has been a work-around. Haven't tested it yet. Still su*ks
aha thank you! Good to know. But Spektrum needs to make it a properly supported feature. I'm nagging them to get it done ;)
If you run an OSD, I know it's possible to display Rssi in your video.
You could upgrade the gimbals from potentiometers to hall effect gimbals. Wait forgot that's frsky :p but I did have a quick question why keep the original as a 2db and change the 2nd one to the 5db as a whip you would have had the height benefits of the 2db but also gotten the range from the 5db in something that didn't look so odd and wonky.
might have to do the first hall effect gimbals on a Spektrum 😂
I really like yours videos . they are great.
Your advice - which receiver for drone- best range ?I just bought it DX8 G2. I'm scared to open it :)
cobra4829 Dont mess with it. If it works...why?
Brilliant, thanks.
Have a litle problem my ailien frame hvith full kiss setup ( first modell kissFC)
I have a spektrum IX20 and an spm 4650 hvith SRXL V2 protokoll and i cant get it to wark hwit the kissFC. I have flassed the latest firmwhere on it but notting i wander hvetre to solder it and can kissFC talk srxlv2 ?
Will the mod work on a dx6e without diversity??
Dx9 didn't already have the metal trim swithes? The DX6 does, I thought they see basically the same unit just less channels?
The SPM4648 do run on the 3.3v satellite voltage and have auto-bind (plug in drone before transmitter and it goes into bind mode)
All I use now is the SPM4649T.
I notice there are 2 places to plug the antenna in. There is an a and a b. Do you know which one to plug into?
The one you unplugged
@@vinnyavalanche very helpful....... Pulled another one apart at the Hobby Shop. It's the top one
I'm sick of my dx9 dropping out does this really help or do I just need to go to taranis I Really Love Spektrum
Yo DRIBE do you have a taranis vs spectrum vid. I'm ready to move from fly sky but I don't know which one to choose.
Cool updates!
I was going to add it to the dx6 gen 2 I got on E- bay but I got scammed with a defective unit.
very informative. like your channel a lot Mr Drib.
thank you Casey :)
hello i have dx6 with spm4648 reciver... and i have lost signal at 80meter.... its normal? i wanna do this antenna mod,but i think dx6 have problem ;( (brand new spm4648)
Hey drew what material did you use to print the antenna mount
Hatchbox PLA, black edition to match the tx hahah
amzn.to/2mq4gw0
Nice i needed this brotha!!!
just ordered the gear... Dx7s Mod Coming Asap!!!!
awesome! Let me know how it goes :D
Work on a 6i?
I’m shocked that such a big name in fpv isn’t a taranis fanboy...
Wonder if this can be done on a dx6 or if its worth doing?
yes it can be done on a DX6 just the same, however, the antenna cover is part of the main shell so there will have to be some cutting :/
can this work for dx8 gen 2?
Great vid!!!
taranis trim switches are easy to replace ;)
Kanaan Nichols they’re also cheap radios
Also, I notice how telemetry was never accurate... and it’s just cause of how small the antennas are...
Great Video I should service my dx-9 also! Thanks Rich
Good job!
can you do this mod on the dx6e?
yes. The same pigtails I linked should be compatible with all Spektrum transmitters
Le Drib awsome thanks man! I wanted to do this upgrade for a bit but no vids. keep up the good work! :)
You ID is hanging out. Might wanna blur that out
do this work on the dx8 too?
yup!
