Kobe isn't that far removed from his prime. Remember he hasn't had a serious injuries like mcgrady or played the number option since the start of his career like other franchise players. He's been the number two option for 8 years I believe. This will delay his decline and that is why I am not shocked that kobe is averaging these numbers at 34 years of age. I won't be shocked that lebron will do worse at 34, he's been playing an elite level since 18yrs old and #1 option since the beginning.
but he had pau gasol and andrew bynum, at the time, there wasn't a better 4 & 5 combo in the league, do you know how much easier the game is as a guard when you have a stretch 4 that has a post game, and a strong big center with a post game and defensive/rebounding presence?
Despite Carmelo leading the East in scoring you can't find a single highlight of him scoring a bucket on any of the highlight videos by the NBA. David Stern seriously hates this man.
