- During our month long stay in Chiang Mai, Thailand (with Mandy's grandmother who came to visit us!), we visited the Chiang Mai Zoo. This 200 acre zoo was originally opened in 1952 at the foot of Doi Suthep (mountain), and is now home to hundreds of animal species from all over the world.

I have been to the Chiang Mai Zoo ten years ago. If I look at your video maybe it's time to go back someday..

OMG, Chris you detected the masquerade. The orang utan is a friend of mine working there part time to put himself through university. He has to suit up in an orange orang utan jumpsuit each day and pretend that he is an orang utan. After all orang utan means people of the jungle. I am surprised you caught on to the trick and thought he was Chewbaca. He did auditioned for the role but Steven Speilberg reckoned he is not realistic enough for the role. Those hornbills are in fact drones dressed up as well and hence they are just so bored jumping around like a headless hornbill.
Hey Hang! This is very funny 😂 but seriously, a masquerade! I've been thinking about this type of thing a lot lately. We just watched The Truman Show and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch on Netflix within the last couple of weeks. I'm not sure if you've seen them?!

Wow, I went there in 2018, and the gator thing was also empty back then. Hate to see they didn’t fill it up since then, and he still has such little space.

Nice zoo visit! FYI-Animals won’t leave thru the open gate because of the “cattle” guard en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattle_grid
Chris and Mandy, a well run and full of space zoo is a good animal conservation place but those who have cages and not allowed them to roam as if they are in their normal terrain are not good for the well being of the animals. The birds are definitely not good to cage them up like that depicted in Chiangmai. Wish they have huge areas to allow them to fly about and be as if they are in their natural habitat. It also offer schools kids a day out on excursions to stimulate their understanding and learning about nature.
