I remember hearing the first story before, almost word for word but it was set in the Republic of Ireland and the item came from the United Kingdom. The money was in Euros, not dollars.
#2 stolen electricity; I live in the Philippines a friend of mine who lived in a nearby town, also a foreigner like myself, noticed that his electric bill kept creeping up. He got suspicious and went out to locate his box that turned out to be just outside of his gate. There he noticed 2 large wires that didn't look right coming out of his meter. He decided to just cut them and when he did the whole block went black. There were more than 6 houses connected to his meter. He later figured out that 3 or 4 of them had already been hooked in before he rented the house and he never knew until the other got connected. He went ahead and cut 15' of of each wire and put a heavy padlock on the box.
The first one, companies know most people wont foght back all the way through! If they make money the cost to them is minimal so they dont care! No ethics or morals. All they care about is the money screw the consumer/employee
Where i'm from, utility companies will happily support you in such lawsuits, they take utility theft VERY seriously.
