      His tactics are very unattractive but as someone who isn't British, I think England has done way better with him than any other England manager I can remember, and I'm more than 40 years old! I do wonder though if the case is that these crop of players are just that good and it is Southgate holding them back, but it seems unlikely when you consider that the team with Rooney, Beckham, Gerrard, lampard, Scholes, Terry, Ashley Cole, Lampard etc in it were nowhere near this successful, so I guess it's quite possible that Southgate is the difference much as it's hard to accept

    Dan and the entire English media are delusional believing they had the better players against the Spanish side. The English believe the EPL is the best league and a lot of their players come from the EPL so they are top players but the reality is La Liga is far superior tactically from a player and coach standpoint. England's best player plays in Spain and has gotten better. The reality is Spain has set the standard for football currently both for the men and women's game and everyone else is just catching up. The English media and Dan can stay delusional and believe they have a chance in 2026, but they have no chance. They shouldn't even have been in this Euro final. • @louaceveu1925
    @louaceveu1925 Месяц назад +19

    Although the wingers from Spain were exceptional, the key of this Spanish team success is the midfield. Rodri, Fabian and Olmo were incredible for several reasons:
    1. They took control of all the games (7)
    2. They dictate the tempo taking away the speed of fast teams like Germany, France and England (Brazil did it in the seventies, slowing down the game and the fast European teams they could never find their rhythm)
    3. Taking control in midfield they split the opposite team and their forwards were always totally isolated from their midfielders
    4. In any giving moment any of the midfielders became a false 9, a winger, or an attacking midfielder with the opposite defenders always caught unprepared
    5. They regain possession isolating the opposite players and pressuring them like a wolf pack in specific areas.
    The real reason why England lost against Spain is because they didn't have an specific plan or style to play their games and they relied more in individual brilliance than in a collective strategy for their games.

    A random thought I had watching this - most of the players from England's starting XI come from clubs where others are the risk takers.
    - Kane/Bayern - Sane, Musiala, Coman, etc.
    - Bellingham/Real - Vinni, Rodrygo (Jude kind of takes risks, but still need a good bit of link up play, AND has dropped form like Stevie said)
    - Foden/City - Doku (city's system doesn't really require players to take people on like Yamal/Williams do)
    - Saka/Arsenal - he DOES take people on, but he wasn't able to link up play with Kane well who's in some regard a poacher/immobile
    The ones who ARE the risk takers are the people who were coming off the bench (Watkins, Palmer, Eze) and they immediately were breaking lines, earning chances.
    I think that combined with the pressure of the Euros, plus being labeled a golden generation, and the learned (club) reliance on others to take risk led to maybe a fear of going forward?
    Idk, I'm just another bloke with another opinion who never will make it to a starting XI hahah

    People, like Robson, who are criticising Bellingham didn't really watch the game. The reason he looks tired at times is because of his style of play. He is the only midfielder we have who is prepared to drive with the ball into opposition territory. If you actually watched the game you would have seen how massive his contribution was to our equaliser. Firstly, he made himself available for Pickford to throw the ball out quickly. Under enormous pressure from the Spanish midfielder he managed to control Pickford's throw and lay it off perfectly to Palmer. Palmer then found Saka out wide. Bellingham was then the only England player who drove into the penalty area in order to give Saka an option. When Saka played the ball to him his lay off to Palmer was so perfect that Palmer only had to run onto it and slide it in the direction of the goal. It seems like Bellingham's rise has been so meteoric that many people just want a reason to bring him down. The fellas top drawer. Boost him up, don't try to tear him down. You can't win us the World Cup because you ain't on the pitch. He can.

      @stnbch3025 You clearly are not a fan of the praise Bellingham has received since breaking into the England team hence why your retort has nothing to do with what this video is about. Him being, in your opinion, 'bang average' for the last five months doesn't take away from the fact that he scored two vital goals in this tournament and was instrumental in our equaliser in the final. You're conflating two things mate and unless you're a Real Madrid fan how he has been playing for them isn't a matter to overly concern yourself with. No one said he was Lionel Messi. He's a just turned 21 year old who, like 90% of the players in the tournament, probably came into the tournament carrying some injury or other.

    • @kevingeorge9727
      @kevingeorge9727 Месяц назад

      @georgemark8593 The first England game I remember watching was England v Italy in 1977. I've seen them all. Keegan, Robson, Lineker, Gascoigne, etc. I'll criticise a player if the criticism is fair. I will also keep an open mind as to what a player is enduring. No one is 'rubbish' or 'not trying'. International football is hard because you have to play with what you have. It not the fault of our players that our country's journalists have an over-inflated sense of who we are. I'm not defending Bellingham because I'm a 'fanboy'. I'm defending him because he is being unfairly maligned. If you watch the final again you'll see for yourself how much work he got through. The occasion was too much for both Mainoo and Foden and he and Rice had to make up for that.

In Spain and Germany, for some time now, coaches have been appearing who know very well how to make their teams play..... regardless of the names of the players....I think that some players of the English national team would stand out much more playing with Spain ...clearly coach the key...

      @@ElJaztins Yeah but it works both ways.
      In 2008-2012 most players came from Barcelona and few from RM and couple of other teams like Villareal, Atletico and Arsenal. But the majority was Barcelona. Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pedro, Puyol, Pique, Fabregas and Villa and Alba were all Barca players. Which is half the reason they played well together because they trained together daily at their clubs and were all trained in the same system and philosophy.
      It works both ways. There's no real magic formula to creating a successful side. There's different ways of doing it. But whichever way is chosen the players must have chemistry and gel well into a single unit. If they don't they just become a collection of individuals like we saw with the England and France team.

That guy made it everything happen going through the middle of field. He was not only the one that saved the day in the last minute with that header off the line but he created so many wonderful things to the center of the field. I think he deserves as much credit as the wingers. It's so good to see players like that take a game over. Soain played with courage and bravery and creativity they played on the front foot and they were incredibly fun to watch. England would never have made it to the final if they were on the other side of the bracket. They were lucky to be there. And it shows that talent without the right mentality and the right team synergy isn't enough. It's brilliant move by the Spanish soccer federation to have such a gifted youth coach who's had so many of these guys at some point in their careers. He knows the players they all have had the same principles drilled into them. And it just worked!

    Delusional people believing English players are the best yet they never won a trophy in more than 4 decades.. No ballon d’or award to an English player for as far as I can remember. Y’all keep hyping your lads, keep hyping your league. sadly it’s the only thing stopping your success! When you start being honest with yaselfs, then maybe you can start getting it right!
