That stick dance is a Chuukese stand called Tokia. With different types they are all called Uwo'kurukur but each has its own name & purpose but this that these Chamorros are doing is called Tokia.
Kapingamarangi and Nukuoro are unique in a way that they are the only islands outside of the Polynesian triangle and the Melanesian Poly outliers who speak a pure Polynesian dialect. Their traditional dances were banned by the first Christian missionaries to their islands. One traditional dance performed by an elderly lady was recorded by Kenneth Emory in 1947, thirty plus years after the missionaries. The dance call the "Koni" is similar to the Tongan dance "Tau'olunga".
Kapingamarangi & Nukuoro islanders are a mixture of Micros & Polys. When they arrived in Micronesia they sailed around to look for a nice & good island to settle because most islands in Micronesia were all settled already. They sailed through Chuuk outer islands & intermarried with them & took their families with them to their now home islands of Nukuoro & Kapingamarangi.
Ancestorwise kapingans & Nukuorans originated from Tokelau not Samoa or Tonga.
waiiooo CHUUK & POHNPEI 😍😍❤️💯🙌🏽

Te Mauri Te Raoi ao Te Tabomoa
Kosraean culture... I believe there are a few cultural performances other than the christmas marching. just like the other islands.. the stick dance...jst saying :) it's a nice video though.
forget the stick dance...lol
chamorros you're better off without the traditional war dance. Its better if you stick with the noble savages image. Just saying. I understand you're trying to revive your culture, but taking different representations of traditional war dance all over the pacific and adopting it as your own contradicts the depicted noble savages image.
pohnpei coffee do you have the video of the nukuoro traditional dance?never heard of this "koni" dance.
Lovely looking
NICE!
I thought Marshall Islands was and still no longer part or Micronesia but since is all over the internet I think I am gonna forget about what my teachers as been telling me at Marshall lanita iakwe elementary school. .. Marshallese Micronesian and proud!!
+Jose Foreston Geographically speaking, Marshall Islands is part of the region of Micronesia. However, in terms of political and national status, the Marshall Islands or the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) is separated frm the other 4 island nations that make up the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), which are Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, and Yap. Palau, Kiribati, the Marianas (CNMI), and Guam (US) are also part of Micronesia, but also form their own sovereign nations with different political statuses. The term Micronesia is a label that was placed upon us by early western explorers just like Polynesia and Melanesia.
+Jose Foreston Nauru is also part of Micronesia as well.
