the interesting part about that I feel is that compared to many other western countries you can actually sink quite low in America. But there are still far more startups and people starting their own business there because the attitude towards success is just different there. The American dream seems so real when watching videos like this.

I'm Daniel and I come from Germany. Last month I spent 3 weeks in the U.S. and visited gyms like BarbellBrigade and other ones in L.A. and S.F. - unfortunately I wasn't able to come to Sacramento. But I wanted to thank you nevertheless for your videos, your motivation and your know-how. Back in Germany there aren't many RUclipsrs with such a high quality content like yours. But next time I am on vacation in America, I will definitely train untamed! I'm really looking forward to be a part of your gym for a few days and to talk to you.
    Stay like you are,

I'm in my 40s and back in school, and the road to even making my program, much less completing it and passing the board exam is gonna be a bitch. We've all been there, but not everyone has the mental strength to get out of the hole. Write down your goals, keep positive, eat well by researching good foods, surround yourself with positive people, self-analyse, chill but not too much, be consistent with the gym, drink plenty of water, take supplements and find yourself a good partner you can offload your daily frustrations. Good Luck!

motivational. I had this big realization recently that I had been focusing TOO MUCH on the PROBLEM (how big, how many facets, why is it I can't do it, why other people can) and TOO LITTLE on the SOLUTION (if I can do something now that can just maybe even marginally bring me a tiny bit forward in the direction that I want, what is it?). I know it sounds too simple like ye of course, but is actually quite a deep subject. The mind trap here is "the more I know about the problem, the higher the chances are to solve it". Studying the problem is important, (he realized he was filling no specific niche) but dwelling on the solution is more important. It was an excellent reminder for me.

Long story short I had to keep with my 9-5 job to gain redundancy money, whilst working out of a local gym trying to build my PT business. I am now 20 days away from losing my 9-5 job and will be trying the PT business full time, albeit beey scared!!!

Thank you very much Alan. I only started lifting I’m November & have only had enough shoulder flexibility to squat since December. Getting stronger has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It brings small victories every week & helps with my depressive head. Your videos are both inspirational and instructional. I really would like to thank you. Your purposefulness, tenacity, humility & gratitude shine through in this video. This video has been a real shot in the arm. Thanks again.

Hi, Alan.. I'm a 11b in the NG and discovered your vids when I was on deployment. I can definitely relate with the gym being a sanctuary where you're actually in control. Your videos literally taught me how to lift. Thank you so much for that. This vid was super inspirational and helped soldify/motivate me for training to go to SF selection. Keep doing what you do.
    Manly tears shed.

Alan, you've been motivating me my whole time in this fitness life of mine. You seem to always have answers to all my questions, why does my back hurt when I squat, 3 days before you uploaded the exact answer. You keep my form on point and keep me motivated in the gym, life, and the business world. I've always wanted to open my own gym, but lately I've been skeptical. You've motivated me to rethink the idea, as it will always be on the back burner. I can't be the only one who thinks this highly of you, so thanks for everything man.

i can relate in many ways - I'm in the RAF, and I'm leaving to become a PT and will work my way towards strength and conditioning coaching and will probably do massage therapy as well, the long term goal is to have my own gym..so excited to leave and start this journey I literally stay up all night planning things and working things out in my head.. I was fairly over weight when I was young, I remember my man boobs bouncing as we did PE at school and getting sores from where they would rub on my t-shirt...so that's when I first started doodling in nutrition and cardio - basically just removing all the junk food and doing slow cardio, I was only about 12, eventually I was underweight - and feeling just as bad about myself, which is when I first started actively gaining knowledge on nutrition, and training to build muscle at 13. since then, I've slowly changed my perception on training and now I train for mind and strength, I love helping friends with training and to reach their goals - I always wanted to keep this just as a hobby, but I feel now is the time to start a new page in my life...I have 3-4 months left until I leave... I used to have a garage gym too, I lived at my nans and when I was 14-18 I would train in the garage that I converted into a gym, It would be crowded with my friends and we would just train for hours and hours

So bloody grateful you made it happen; on a completely selfish note, your basic programme got me started with powerlifting, and your videos have continued to help me get stronger since moving on from that. You da man.

Over the past year or so I've really enjoyed your videos, they are very informative, helpful and spot on.
I am also a small business owner and are currently going through the same things you have and probably still face from time to time. You pretty much confirmed the one thing I hear when I speak to other business owners. If you want to be successful in your business, you better be ok with doing it for free or it costing you for awhile before it will give you return!
Common denominator is passion and determination will most always equal success and longevity!
I can't say enough about this vid and how inspiring it was to me listening to your story. Not to knock your lifting vids but this post has reinvigorated me!
Keep posting, there are a lot of us that love it!

That's the spirit Alan, great story! You miss 100% of the shots you don't take -> shoot for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars.
Love your inspiring videos, far far away from Vietnam.

Just from a coaching and advice standpoint, as a purely beginner lifter, barely more than a year in and even less time finding tools and resources to do so correctly I've found your videos and instruction to be the most helpful. Not just in performance but in overall feeling better physically after a lift or a workout because of advice on how to do them correctly from your videos. I admit I wasn't fully aware of your presence outside of youtube but from this video hearing about more services you offer/ways to support you and your goals I'm more than willing to take the time and spend the money.
