    Good morning Peter ☕️lovely to see a different aspect to your surrounds, and sea side stories too. Funny how we can so clearly recall the food had in particular places years later. That looked like a stunning summer day. Going to the coast the perfect thing to do 🌤️

      Hello Jane and yes food seems to figure large in my memories 😋. Tomato sandwiches were always a favourite of mine and seem for me to be forever linked to the seaside.. 🧑‍🔧

    Hi Peter. Thanks for another enjoyable ride. I live close to the coast so it was nice to join you on a ride to your seaside.
    Raining here, so no riding for me today ☹️.
    All the best, Roy.

      Good evening to you Roy. Yes, rather like the UK you don't ever live far from the coast in NZ do you. Nowhere here are we more than 70 miles before we can dip a toe in the Briny. Hopefully it's not too cold with you despite being the equivalent of our mid January - we had continuous rain back then and even now we get alternate days of hot sun and then overcast rain. But today is glorious! So it's off we go on Hurricane. 🏍️.
      Best wishes, Peter

    Good morning Peter, I'm just in the midst of a marathon catch-up session here (due to domestic pressures), and find you taking me back to one of my old coaching haunts again - nice to see.

Today is a an absolute delight and after fitting some trellis panels I'll be out doing some more exploring. Enjoy your day there in the countryside 👍

    Thanks for another interesting ride, but, the story of the bikini topped it! I can imagine the young lady’s panic trying to get noticed by her Mom. Went for a relaxing ride yesterday myself. I’ll be looking forward to the next outing along with a good story or two.

      Pleased you enjoyed the ride and stories. Yes the bikini incident I'd completely forgotten about until I began remembering our visits to the Lido and then it all came back to me.
      Yes all being well we'll have another Thursday ride with one or two stories perhaps 😊. See you soon.

    Morning Peter.
    Another enjoyable ride.
    I like the additional written explanations to keep the ride description going without disturbing the story.
    Would love to have seen some pictures of your plywood panniers from last week. It's a fascinating concept that has crossed my mind in my earlier days.
    Sadly as you become more comfortably financed, you just tend to throw money at the problem. And I'm sure you don't get the same satisfaction from the solutions.
    Sure your 1000 subs will be here very soon. 🎉

    • @Lanes-Explorer5733
      @Lanes-Explorer5733  Месяц назад +1

      Good morning Tim and thank you. Yes this wasn't actually going to be released this morning as the ride I'd intended, when I watched it last night to check it, had problems. Fortunately I'd prepared this one but had to complete it early this morning.
      I've searched all my negatives for a photo of those panniers - I remember taking a photo of the bike over on the island with them on it but simply can't find it. I'd rather enjoy making another pair for the Hunter - I've a lot more experience woodworking now - so I'll do some sketches and pop them on my 'Community' part of the channel. I think hard panniers like the Cravens look particularly elegant.
      Great to see you over on the Welshman's channel with his Honda Cub. 👍

    Good evening Peter, what a perfect video to relax and unwind to. Great to hear about your seaside experiences, i'm really enjoying these reminiscing videos. I recall a few years back when we were on holiday with the kids that alongside brightly coloured rubber rings you could buy large black ones too, your mentioning lorry innertubes for rubber rings brought them back to mind. 😀 The 1000 subscribers isn't far off now and thoroughly deserved they are to. 👍

    • @Lanes-Explorer5733
      @Lanes-Explorer5733  Месяц назад

      Gently does it Dave though I do seem to be very gradually millimetering my way there 😂😂.
      This wasn't actually going to be today's video! I had partly edited it only. But around 10 last night I thought I'd check the prepared video as I usually do and there was a fault on it. So I had to set to and complete the editing and then upload it. It wasn't actually ready until 5 this morning! Which I think you'll agree is cutting it fine 😂.
      In fact it's an ill wind because this seaside one is far better and I've scrapped the other. I'll use some of the best material from it though for next week's one.
      Now I'm off to catch up with MM and his scenic splendiferous ride.
      Good to hear of your own experiences of those inflated rings - I was always leaving my flippers behind at the lido - mum and dad got fed up with it and refused to buy any more for me! That was the end of my swimming pleasure really - never liked the indoor baths much. Too noisy by half 😂
      PS. Thrilled with the Beeline as you'll see next week 😉

      @Lanes-Explorer5733  Месяц назад

      @Ainsworth-Rider Oh no... 🙊. I think I'll have to keep an 👁️ on you, James...😂. The c15 as you'll now realise was a sort of 250 cc Triumph Tiger Cub. Had one for 12 years (a tenner in 1970 it cost me) and in use every weekday all year motorcyclist as we had to be then. 120 miles a week I did. Never let me down once and apart from oil changes and mot no other real maintenance needed. Not fast but didn't need to be. About 65 on the level. @hughferrier5837 has a lovely one.

I'm out in the Hangar working on Hurricane the grey Hunter as it's the six months service. Nothing much to it really - I just need to check everything on my list. Peter, the Honda is a 1981 CM400T. (Twin cylinder, not it's famous cousin the 400-4.) My first real motorcycle. I bought her new in the crate in 1982, along with a shop manual, and assembled her myself at the dealership (who was in the process of going out of business). This was near about Easter. Snowed about two feet that night and buried my lovely new motorbike out against the curb (Montana in the springtime.)
