I'm not Japanese nor have I been to Japan but I wish these would catch on in the states they are beautiful and seen comfortable. Also they show off your figure while also being modest. I love this 100%!
Leslie Lazarus yeeess mee toooo
Yea i wish it were like that here in england too 😖
yes agreed
I'm going to be making a Studio Ghibli Kimono for my Art exam in a few weeks. This was so helpful :) Thank you
did you ever do it
When you are turning the obi, turn it the OTHER way, to make sure you do not accidentally open the front panel and mess up your work. :)
I'm so happy I found this video. I just got a yukata and obi in the Japantown in San Francisco and I can't wait to try it out!
yay! :)
Fabulous, I was given a yukata, obi and geta back in 1993 as a gift after I stayed in Japan for three months. I only remembered back then how to wear it and assemble the obi. Recently I returned to Japan and wished I got someone to show me, bless this video for showing me. Having a party soon and I’m going to wear it on the day.
I really want to were this to the cherry blossom Festival in San Francisco but there are to many annoying sjws there I'm scared they might think it's cultural appropriation but that's not my intention I just really love studying this beautiful culture and I try to respect this culture along with my own (I'm Mexican) I just really don't want to be judged 😖
I’m Japanese and also from SF. We (Japanese) welcome and appreciate if you wear a yukata to any Japanese festival as that is the proper attire for these events. Just make sure if you buy Yukata, buy one made in Japan so you are supporting actual crafts people and not the made in a China ones profiting off our culture, that is the only unacceptable thing as a Japanese person.
@iMAClikeDRE thank you so much I'll definitely get one from Japan I know Japan is beautiful and they would probably have better quality too thank you for the advice 😊
My Korean neighbour just gave me her yukata from when she was studying in Japan. Can't wait to put it on! x3
Nice tutorial. The song in the background tho..
Thought I'm the only one, that song...
The easiest tutorial that I’ve ever seen. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for making thus video, my MIL bought me a yukata 2 years ago, the first time I wore it, I had her and a friend's help putting it on, but now that we have moved, I'm on my own, I'm going to try and put it on by myself for a Bon festival.
I just bought a Yukata for Nisei. Thank you guys for making this video.
Thank you! This was extremely helpful.
Excellent Video
I am not japnese but I love kemono
so pretty gesture
I just bought a yukata ! This was really helpful
It's a very usefull video. Thank you very much. Instrutions are clear. But, isn't it more convenient to bring the bow to the back from the the right? That way, the yukata won't open up. (Am not sure if this sentence makes sense. But I hope you get what I meant ^^")
I'm Jamaican, I am mix cause a lot of us are, but love Asia. I also live in america in Atlanta. I have a cousin that works in Japan that teach English, I want to do the same and live in Japan. 2 years ago I met this man and became an grandfather online on line play , he wants to be my friend and English teacher, we always talk on skype. He is sending me a yukata all the from Japan. Then I'll send somthing to my friend I'm Japan, his family too. We might not be blood and he is confoused and I'm a Christian , but in my heart he's my brother also my uncle, I love them all very much . Hope to soon see him in real life.
This was five years ago. How are you now? :)

Oh! Thank you so much! You saved my life!
kiki and natsuki are very pretty!! \^o^/
@Rokusnow a men's obi is tied kinda like this but not in a bow. Also the men's obi is not as wide as a woman's obi
aaaa! Kiki Sukezane!

Im in Japan right now and have bought a Yukata, however I have not received the belt..
where can I buy the tie sashes at online is there a different name for it
They are also called Himo. I hope that helps you!
Thank you very much 🙏🙏
Nice
Beautiful 😍
I go to Japan as vacations and decided to live there because of my family when I get there it'll be a festival. But my mother said it would be most comfortable wearing nothing under a yukata .
What do I do?
Cool video
i got me a yukata for "men", well its just black without any big patterns so its simple and dark, which fits male's more i guess, it came with 1 sash and 1 obi, is 1 sash enough for a male to wear?
I'm assuming the belt is a datejime? Also why did you twist the obi around against the lay of the yukata instead of with? Didn't it pull open the yukata?
wow both girls are stunning! o_o" anywayz, i'm a guy so does this tutorial also work on male yukata? although i dont think having a bow on my back is very manly lmao
Must you only ever wear a plain/lightly patterned obi with a yukata? I'd
like to wear a furuko obi from a kimono with my yukata, or is this a
faux pas when wearing yukata?
Thank you! It looks very difficult though haha :)
where did you get your yukata from? girl demonstrating the try on
Thank you
Is it the same principle of putting on a kimono? Just wondering because I'm wearing a kimono for cosplay. Thanks for the vid btw! It was very helpful!
You're welcome! Almost the same except the obi part is much, much more complicated. :(
Happy Holidays~
she is kawaii
ah i see! Thank you =D doesnt seem to hard then!
I want Hakama, from Japan!!! Bring my please! I need to fly '
what if you are too tall to be able to do the fold at the waist? im 5'10 and my yukata doesnt hit the floor when i wear it
There are some yukata that don't fold at the waist so I think you can just wear it as is.
You can order longer Yukatas at Japanese online stores! I got one and it's awesome!
Is the under belt required I bought a Yukata from a used store but the two sashes, and belt weren't there. So all I have is the Yukata and obi
Rubyhollor W Hi, just the obi is fine. :)
oh, ok good. Thanks!
lovely video! I'd love to own yukata on my own, but have no bloody idea where to buy one online... plus I am 180 cm tall, so I really can't find a yukata, that would fit me...any suggestions?
keito17 no worries, it's kinda long... might be easier for you to put it on as you don't have to adjust much.
cause my sister is kinda tall too and it's easier for her to put it on haha
....is it possible for a pregnant person to wear a yukata?....i am going to a summer festival and want to wear one but i will be 8 months pregnant....
Hello! Congratulations! :)
We wouldn't recommend wearing a Yukata because the obi (belt) will be very tight.
would it be bad to wear one even though I am not japanese
+melisalwayshere It is not bad at all! Please try on a Yukata! :)
I found this video very useful, thank you very much for sharing! ^_\/
Hey Kawaii Kakkoii Sugoi! Is it neccessary to wear the obi? My yukata didnt come with an obi so I only have the inner belt. Super stoked to wear my yukata for halloween!
+Emily Jiménez We're sorry to hear! It is okay to wear without the obi but it will definitely not perfect. :(
+Kawaii Kakkoii Sugoi Okay cool. Maybe I can make one in time... thanks for getting back to me!
is it bad if i59.tinypic.com/xuh51.png i don't have this part because my height doesn't let me do it?
That's Ok~ you only need to make the fold if you are too short~
I was just wondering if you have to be Japanese to go to the festival
Not at all! It may be a Japanese thing, but it's more about the festivities and the fun. Wearing a yukata or jinbei to these events are appropriate and it shows your are participating! If anything, some people will appreciate the effort.
Summer is coming up so there will be Obons to attend so be on the look out for any events if they are around your area!
Honestly what is the point in all of the wrapping? Can't the second piece just be wrapped with the left on top and then the last one? Why go through all of the rest?
Kawaiine! I lived in Jakarta woulf buy yukata men and woman how the way?
Shopee
tying the ribbon is soo hard >:(
Wowowow
Can you wear Zori instead of Geta with a Yukata?
Hello :) You can if you don't have geta, but most people wear geta with their yukata.
Thank you! C:
Is yukata And kimono the same thing?
They are different in many ways. Kimono has 2 layers (or more) while Yukata just has one. You can't wear yukata to attend formal occasion (such as wedding, meeting,...). You can find more on the Internet.
Traditionally speaking, the fabric is also different. Yukata is made from cotton and very light in weight, and kimono is made from silk and heavier. However, modern kimono can be made from less expensive fabric. But in general the cost of yukata is much less than a kimono. In addition, yukata is meant to be worn in the summer only. Hope this helps!
Is it okay if I don't wear the slippers with the yukata?
It's ok to wear sandals
should that second girl be wearing a red obi? she looks a little old to have that...
I was thinking the same thing!
I'm Indian but I want wear 👘 kimono
I am pakistani
I dont even know how to tie a bow
You don't need to wear anything under a yukata except bra and undies. Only a few of the people I know here (in Japan) wear extra stuff like that underneath. It's an excuse to sell people extra stuff. Nagajuban are needed under regular kimonos though.
The song is scary to me..
I wish I had a yukata :(
If you're a man, you can stop by 1:43
First!
NO GOOD
nice is good me too i lik marid with japonaise skyp zalmane01
boring . Too many clothes on.
Should say "how to put on a yukata"- not how to wear a yukata. Wear is kiru and kiteiru is put on.
As an En. teacher, this is one of my pet peeves of perpetual bad En. in explaining kimonos/yukatas in En. class.
"Wearing a yukata on your own"? Seriously, only 1 person is supposed to wear it at a time. No space for an extra person in that thing. What I think you mean is "putting on a yukata on your own". There is a significant linguistic difference. I understand and expect that mistake from non-native En. speakers in Japan, but there is no excuse for native En. speakers using such sloppy En.
I bought a yukata because it's super cheap. I wanted to use it for video purposes. And also I've never been to japan. I'm pretty intimidated now hehe
