Emirati royal Sheikha Hend Al Qassimi burst onto social media in the last fortnight tweeting her distress at the growing Islamophobia in India and hate speeches by Indians in the Gulf, following her tweets up with articles in the Gulf press. Here, in an interview with ThePrint's National Affairs editor Jyoti Malhotra, the Sheikha talks about how she has grown up around soft-spoken Indians, how her uncle, a royal in the Sharjah royal family, moved to India after he retired and passed away there, and why today's Hindus should not take revenge against the sins of Muslim invaders in the past. She admitted she met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, but added that she had a cup of tea with former PM Deve Gowda and is a fan of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the self-help guru

It's courageous to talk about islamic invasion of India being an Emirati Muslim. Accepting the truth is important and Indians should also learn to forgive and look forward. Hiding the truth of islamic invasion in the name of secularism is evoking Hindus even more. But soon it would go away once the recognition comes.

Your excellence, the princess, I am Hindu, 65, completed Bible 7 times by the time I finished school, but I had no idea what was Ramayanam or Mahabharatam or Geetha, till 50 years, surely even you will be angry. Muslims have caste in India too as do Buddhists and now Christians as well. Now, I don't work in gulf but because of my job in shipping, I regularly have to deal with your government authorities. Be it customs or immigration, sea pilots or police officials.
I really feel good the day I see a soft spoken, respecting arab national, and I am a ship captain who doesn't work for them. I wonder how they must be treating the people who work for them.
20 years out at sea, I have been to mostly all countries having sea ports and have dealt with their authorities. The arrogance of Arabs( qatar, Kuwait, saudi, UAE, Oman) beat others by a WIDE margin.
