the boy band template doesn't really apply to BTS. eg, there is no "who's the JT"; BTS are like 7 Michael Jackson superstars, no weak link. they each shine in their own way. THEY RAP world-class with amazing lyricism/writing. they dance at an elite level of choreography. they write and produce and speak on mental health issues and have saved countless lives and so many report they helped them get through difficult times and learn to love themselves. they are this century's Beatles phenomenon, and with music mainly in Korean!!!

No, all the songs are not the same. They have songs in many different genres from hip hop to R&B, ballads to EDM, and so much more. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists although most can do some of both, and 4 main dancers - although they all dance. Try ON: Kinetic Manifesto. Or House of Cards-Live.
Kpop is not just pop but rather an industry, including training approaches and media appearances. BTS were underdogs from a poor, nearly bankrupt company who poured their heart and soul into doing their best and being creative about it.

BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan in Korean which translates to Bulletproof Boyscouts in English. They are a seven member group consisting of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. Most of their songs are hip hop based, but BTS music covers many genres. Whatever you're in the mood to listen to, there's songs that will satisfy the mood. Majority of their songs are in Korean with some English words or phrases in them. Dynamite is one of the few songs fully in English.

Believe this 67 year old female from Michigan...these young talented funny caring loving men from S Korea are a genre in themselves. They do not fit in any bubble that is out there. They have created their own world ... There following is indeed ARMY as stated and that ARMY consists of all ages, (not just young girls) but men as well. I found them back in 2016 at a very low point and they seemed to be what I needed to bring me out of my depressed state that I was in at the time. Have been an avid ARMY ever since. The extremely consistent high voice is Jimin. In this video he was the one you originally pointed at and said that he was the one. They are Leader Kim Namjoon known as RM (the blue hair you wanted rapper) oldest Kim Seokjin known as Jin (he is now serving in the Korean Army for a spell, singer and visual), Min Yoongi also known as Suga (the one on the basketball court - rapper) Jeon Hoseok known as J-Hope (Third one to appear in the video-rapper, lead dancer, vocalist) Park Jimin (known as Jimin, lead dancer, lead vocals) Kim Taeyung known as "V" dancer, vocals one by the ice cream truck) and the Golden Maknae Jeon Jungkook Center, lead dancer, lead vocalist and rapped in their earlier songs...he started out the video.

    Thanks for this reaction. :)
The voice you mentioned was the voice of Jimin, one of the main dancers and lead vocalist of BTS. He has a very unique and beautiful voice.
    BTS(BangTan Sonyeondan)
It means BulleTproof boy Scout in English.
After changing their logo, the meaning of Beyond The Scene also expanded. :)
BTS is a South Korean boy band consisting of three rappers and four vocalists. And all seven of them are excellent dancers.
They do a wide variety of music, but basically they are rooted in hip-hop.
All seven members are participating in making their songs by writing, composing, and producing them.
BTS started with a small company that almost went bankrupt, so they have been very looked down and hated by Korean broadcasting stations and other K-pop fandom. So they have struggled from the beginning to prove themselves.
If you're interested in BTS' other songs, I recommend....
Mic Drop (It's one of their billion-view music video.)
    Blood sweat & tears
    FIRE
    On kinetic manifesto film
    Black Swan
    Save me→I'm fine
    Daechwita(Agust D 대취타, Suga's solo)
These are pretty different from Butter or permission to dance or Dynamite.(Only these three songs are fully English. These three songs have been written in English since the Pandemic to give energy to people around the world.)
And, all of their music videos provide English subtitles. :)
Their lyrics are very deep and beautiful.

Or, I think it would be good to follow a story line.
DNA: Joy of fateful love → Fake Love: Realizing that love was a lie → IDOL, The Truth Untold, Epiphany, Answer Love Myself: To love other people completely, you should love yourself first.
These are included in Love Yourself Trilogy.
The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative.
It will also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :)
They make a wide variety of genres of music like Hip-hop, Ballad, R&B, pop, EDM, etc. I'm sure there're quite a few of their 300 songs that suit your taste. :)
Oh, plz don't forget their live performances. :)
Personally, one of my favorite Dynamite live performance is BTS-IHEART RADIO MUSIC FESTIVAL 2020 FULL HD!
    ruclips.net/video/k0VMFosBRXU/видео.html
The direction and transition from Dynamite to Make It Right, Spring Day, and Boy With Luv are so touching and great. :)
2020 MMA Black swan Perf.+ On + Life Goes On+ Dynamite
    ruclips.net/video/PtaP4UkZKyc/видео.html
Suga couldn't participate in the performance due to rehabilitation after his shoulder surgery, but this is one of the masterpieces.
    Maybe you can try this.
[2021 FESTA] BTS (방탄소년단) BTS ROOM LIVE
    ruclips.net/video/RRhjdYsNwAk/видео.html
It's a medley performance where you can taste the diversity of their music in 10 minutes. They are Korean songs, but English subtitles are provided, so you don't need to worry. :)
They don't dance in this performance, but you can see them having so much fun. :)
If you wanna know more about them, I think a few introduction videos can help you. :)

The guy that has the hair you like is RM. He's one of the rappers and the leader of the group. The high voice is Jimin. One of the vocalists and one of the main dancers. He studied martial arts for 8 years and incorporates some of the Taekwondo moves into his dancing. Really incredible. Jhope, who was in the black shirt and yellow sunglasses, is one of the 3 rappers and is the lead dancer. He won a Korean National dance championship before becoming a BTS member. As someone else said, depending on what music you like, there's many genres of theirs to choose from. I personally like reactions to their first song, No More Dream, as they first started as a hip hop group. The song is good, dancing is great and very entertaining to see what they looked like when they started.

Welcome to the phenomenon of BTS! If you think they are drippy in this song, watch Mic Drop Steve Aoki remix MV. Jimin is the one with higher voice in this song but all 4 vocalists have a good range. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They are a KPop group. They have done songs in almost all genres. To show their diversity perhaps watch a few like Mic Drop, Black Swan, On Kinetic Manifesto, Run BTS, or watch a single video called BTS Festa Room Live 2021. It is a medley of sections of a variety of B sides from each album so shiwcases their diversity. Turn CCs on to get English subs on their videos. To see them in their best element though watch a live performance. They sound better live than on the studio version!

You're right about all the reasons people like them -- but the #1 reason fans love them is because they are good people who walk the talk. They have always made music about mental health and social injustice, which are taboo topics in South Korea and have seen other acts blacklisted. That bravery is what first made people start listening to them because fans felt seen.
BTS also decimated other toxic aspects of the kpop industry with their authenticity and freedom to be who they are, allowing for other acts to be brave enough to follow suit (though not all of those artists can because of their awful contracts).
BTS's story is the ultimate underdog story, coming from a near-bankrupt company to global kings, and they've been grinding since 2013 -- rising to popularity despite all the sabotage, hate, and death threats they've endured.
As others have said, they sing multiple genres. Pick a mood, any mood, and they have a song for you. It will be sung with authenticity and the feeling that they know exactly where you're coming from. :)
The discography is huge, spanning a decade.
Some classics for a quick bootcamp are:
    - Mic Drop (a clapback at those who bullied them when they were nobodies -- there is a line that references an infamous bullying incident, wherein the bully apologized...and then retracted the apology to double-down on being a jerk)
    - Fake Love (which is part of an ongoing storyline spanning multiple videos and a web toon)
    - Spring Day (an old song that is, to this day, used in remembrance of those who died in an accident caused by corruption -- many of whom were children on a field trip)
    - Fire (a song that challenges the strict South Korean cultural demands that their youth be robotic achievers)
    - Dope (an ooooold song that snaps back at those who complained that BTS's hard work was paying off)
    There are literally hundreds more.
Come on into the rabbit hole! There's plenty of space for everyone!

Sorry for this long comment lol
What genre of music do you like?
BTS stand for Bangtan Sonyeondan which roughly translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. "It has a profound meaning...‘Bangtan’ means to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today’s adolescents.”The fandom is called ARMY.
BTS has three rappers (RM, Suga, Jhope) and four vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook).
They all write, compose, and/or produce their own music. Along side their in-house producers. Their English songs though aren’t written by them (except the rap in Butter), but they were made to help uplift people during covid.
They write about a lot of important topics (which isn’t the most common is kpop) which are; mental health, bullying, regret, follow your dreams, social problems, self love, etc. (Their lyrics are one of the main reason why they are popular)
They also do a lot of different genres or mix of genres from hip pop to pop to Latin pop to RnB to Ballards to a little rock to EDM, etc. What genre of music do you like and I can suggestion song you might like?
They are some of the most funny, hardworking, humble, talented, sweet, kind, etc young men.
If interested in getting to know them I recommend these videos:
-Guide to Bangtan 7 by Taylor Nakamoto (get to know a little of each persons background, a little of their personality, and their relationship with one another)
-The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Goes On 2022 update by Rice Squad (you don’t need to read, pretty good. A few small errors but overall really good)
-BTS vs Kpop: a video essay by bby gang
-Nobodies to Legends 2019 (a little out of date but still good)
    Song Recommendations/performances (turn on cc):
    -Dope
    -We are bulletproof pt. 2
    -Life Goes On
    -Fake Love
    -Black Swan
    -On kinetic Manifesto Film
    -Film Out
    -Pied Piper
-BTS room live performance (a medley of different songs from different albums)
-Tiny Desk Home Concert (they perform three song and Dynamite is performed with a live band)
    -ARMYPEDIA performance
    -Proof Live
    performance (three songs)
    -Fire
    -Mic Drop
    -Just One Day
    -Life Goes On
    -Arson by Jhope
    -Daydream by Jhope
    -Wildflower by RM
    -Still Life by RM
-Deawticha by Agust d (aka Suga)
-So Far Away by Agust D
-That That by PSY (ft. And produced by Suga)
-Sexy Nukim by Balming Tiger ft. RM
-Rush Hour by Crush ft. Jhope
    -Dreamers by Jungkook ft. Fahad
    -Vibe by Taeyang ft. Jimin
-Stay Alive by Jungkook (produced by Suga)
Edit: While Dynamite is an awesome song and does it’s job most ARMY prefer their Korean songs.
2Edit: This song is fine since it is in English but most ARMY will advise you to pause when speaking so you don’t miss anything.
Also most ARMY don’t mind longer videos especially if you are tying to get to know them.

I have heard a lot of music in my life, but nothing compares to these young men. They stress peace, love and positivity thru their lyrics. So it's important to put the captions on. The only "girls" they sing to is ARMY, their fandom. Which is made up of all ages from teens to people in their 80's and even 90's. I'd love to know about "all the rumours" you heard 😂! In fact BTS seldom sing a routine-ish boyband love song. They sing many love songs, but seldom a song intended for "a girl", in the ordinary romantic sense. They sing hundreds of songs about their love for their fans and even for each other. I can think of not one single BTS song that is superficial and does not have a deeper meaning or purpose. They talk about love all the time, and encourage their fans to grow and to love themselves and speak their own truth. It sounds trite and cheesy, but their sincerity is neither.
They usually sing in Korean with some English - those songs are invariably lyrical and poetic - in the sense that they use devices common in poetry, such as allusion and word play, along with the more common rhythm and rhyme.
They have three songs fully in English, and Dynamite was the first of these. When I heard them first I hated every one of them. Then I thought about the context and the time of their release.
Dynamite was released in the depth of lockdown and its purpose was simply to cheer people up: no deep message, not a lot of thinking behind it (though the music and mV are quite sophisticated, well, it's BTS), but it works.
The second, Permission to dance, was another lockdown song, closer to the end of the worst, and it is a celebration of freedom (on its way) and inclusion, with the MV deliberately featuring people who kept the world going with work in the service and care industries, and includes a section where the choreo uses ASL. And at the end, the whole production team come onto the set - including the CEO of Hybe - and dance.
Their last (so far) English track is Butter; it's a tongue in cheek riposte to the focus the west has on their appearance, and the way that people always talk about how beautiful they are. It is gently self-mocking and very clever. And, of course, damn good fun. They did a live performance of it at last year's Grammys and ... well, best in show. Watch it - you may have difficulty closing your jaw 😃
Thank you for your reaction - they are many more songs, and much more to them, too. Over 700 awards and over 300 different songs from all the genres you could think of, and some you have never met yet.

Also ther dancing and vocals (especially the raplines as i wasnt expecting them to not rap at all) and attitude they give off is just perfect. Also for being their very first song fully in english just goes to show that they have improved alot (from what i have heard and read Korean is easier to learn than english).
Also the fact that every Army right now is being biased wrecked by every member including their bias just goes to show how perfect and amazing these guys are and that they do such an amazing job with what they do as well

They sing, dance, write and produce their own songs, never lip-sync (so you might want to check out their live performances), are funny, have great personalities and so humble it's amazing to see. I honestly can't say enough good things about them! Hopefully, you will carry on down the never-ending rabbit hole that is BTS 😊

BigHit is usually pretty good about not striking reactors as long as you play the full intro to the MV. "Dynamite" is a GREAT song and was even nominated for a Grammy (their first), but it is in NO WAY a representation of BTS' discography as a whole. They have over 300 songs in almost every genre- they are basically their own genre. Also, go ahead and throw out any preconceived ideas of what a "boy band" is or isn't. BTS breaks ALL THE rules and refuses to be held in a box. Check out "Mic Drop", "Black Swan", "On- Kinetic Manifesto", and "Outro-Tear".

It's K-POP, and BTS are the BEST!! They have a huge catalog (over 300 songs) and they started in 2013, so there is every genre you could want-they are so diverse (their choreo is amazing)! You definitely should delve deeper into the BTS "rabbit hole"-you won't regret it! Seven members (RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook (JK) and V and Jin, and they are like brothers as they have been together since they were very young (trainees) and their bond is what makes them who they are. Hard working, humble and there are 3 rappers (RM,SUGA & J-Hope) and the vocal line-JK, JIMIN, V & JIN. Seriously the most talented group EVER!!!

2:56 Personally, I think they're popular because of their good music, their song writing skills/lyrics, their messages, their dance/performance skills, their personalities, their teamwork/team chemistry, and more but I think those are some of the top reasons lol. A little trivia, since I don't think anyone mentioned it, a few members of the group are gamers, with various levels of expertise. Also a tip, don't try distinguishing who's who by their hair colour as that changed frequently, especially in the early-mid years. Others have suggested some guides to watch to help you get to know the members, and their history, better. That's a great place to start. If you're sincere in your interest in this group, you'll get a ton of help from their fans, ARMY.

BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, roughly translated as Bulletproof Boyscouts. They are from South Korea and debuted in 2013. They sing in Korean and English. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalist. Their discography contains so many genre's. They are not a "love song" boy band. They have amassed over 700 awards including the Korean Culture Merit Award from their President. They have also spoke at the UN three times and been at the White House. So, saying they are BIG is an understatement. Please continue to check them out!!!!

You are in for such such amazing music and talent. They are nothing like you'd expect in every aspect and from every angle. I would recommend starting with 'BTS Festa Room Live 2021' and 'Proof Live 2022 Born Singer' to see their versatility + live vocal skills, and Run BTS Dance Practice, On Kinetic Manifesto, as well as Black Swan to see their amazing dancing skills!
I would also HIGHLY recommend watching an intro to them...there's one by Taylor called A guide to BTS members: Bangtan 7 that's very thorough and updated for this year. You'll quickly see that they are true artists, genius lyricists, philanthropists, advocates, and not merely just some boy band. :)
This song only shows a tiny glimpse of what they represent. Oh! And I cannot recommend enough their song called Singularity from one of their members "V". It's my personal fav, incredibly brilliant, and very neo seoul and r&b, and Magic Shop Live at Wembley Stadium...it's a song they made for their fans and it's magical-the song and their stage presence!

Yes every song is like this. How I quickly figured out who is singing a particular part of the song is whoever is in the center at the time, that is who is singing. Rarely is there a situation where that is not the case. Two of the members with deep voices are RM who is one of 3 rappers in the group (The one whose hair you liked) and V, one of the four vocalists in the group (The one who was in the center at the end of the song.) The one with the high voice is Jimin, another vocalist.

Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole, a really great place to be with great people who look out for each other! Ignore any comments to the contrary, the fandom is 80% 20's to 90's so mature adults. Yes, there are teens and kids and babies too (not kidding) who love BTS, but you've gotta ask why professionals from all walks of life (Doctors, lawyers, professors etc) are attracted to them? Certainly wasn't the case for other boy bands, don't try to pigeon hole them into any category. I'm 54 and never followed any bands but once I found BTS, I found my happy pill! I won't repeat what other A.R.M.Y's have said, suffice to say if you follow this journey you're in for the ride of your life. Interesting that you wanted to categorize one of their poppiest songs as hip hop, but they actually do make primarily hip hop and EDM, though they really venture into a lot of different genres. But their base is hip hop. Two of their members used to be underground rappers before BTS.
Unfortunately, the boyband label has a lot of connotations to it that are not necessarily accurate, so I'm glad that you listened to their song anyway to see for yourself. Most of their songs are in Korean, but you'll find subtitles on their music videos. Their Korean songs tend to have deeper lyrics, so it's definitely worth checking them out.
Btw, this song, however cool it is, is sort of an outlier in their discography. Partially because it wasn't written by them and the usually write or co-write their songs.
I'm subscribing. I hope you'll check out more of their songs. I'm not gonna recommend anything, because I've seen other people giving you recs already, so I think you'll have enough 😄

BTS are 7 multi-talented, caring, humble guys. They consist of 7 members, 3 rappers-RM, Suga, and J-Hope, and 4 singers-Jin, V, Jimin, and the youngest Jungkook. They are definitely not a boy band. Their fans (called ARMY) are ALL ages. They perform multiple genres. They have 3 all English songs that they performed during the pandemic. Every song is not like Dynamite, all of their songs are amazing and their choreo is always on point. If you want to know about individual members please react to A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari which shows them from the beginning, all they have gone thru to get where they are today. I am so glad my daughter introduced me to them 3 years ago. Always have your subtitles on as their songs have deep meanings. Thank you.

As for the music it's all different due to all the influences from the 7 members. The do multi genre's of music and mix genres. This song was just something to cheer up ARMY (the fans) due to covid. You'll need to use subtitles for their other music. The are not your typical boy band or kpop group either, their lyric's have real meanings not sappy love songs or rapping about all the girls on their arms, cars, house they own.
BTS are a genre of their own.

BTS are a korean boy band who dance and sing in their songs. The genres of BTS are K-pop, pop, hip hop, R&B and EDM, and there are 7 members. They sing in korean and english. They were formed in 2010 and debuted in i believe 2013. The bands members consists of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who co-write and co-produce the majority of their material. It has the rap line, makenae line which are the youngest members, dancers, and vocalists. The leader RM speaks fluent english and translates the other members' words. He speaks in all interviews the most and the other members will reply to some stuff. All of the others can speak enough to form some sentences. Their origin is Seoul, South Korea. You can also have a bias meaning a favorite member. Mine is Jimin and has been since the beginning.

BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan in Korean, Bulletproof Boyscouts in English) is a Korean K-Pop band. The genre of K-Pop is vast and many say that BTS in particular transcends the genre. Is every song like this? Like this or even better. They consist of 3 Rappers and 4 Vocalists and you really get a lot of genres and configurations from these guys. All have successful solo careers alongside being in the band. We don't really like to think of them as a boyband cuz they are so much more than what westerners think of when they think of that label. They have very few sappy lovesongs and tend to talk about real issues they and many other young people are facing. Genres include Hip Hop, Rap, Pop, R&B, Neo-Soul, Jazz, EDM, Latin Pop, Pop Ballad, Raggae, Rock, Alternative, Grunge and a little country. You just never know what you're gonna get with these guys. Hope you react to more.

Technically, it's K-pop, although they're a phenomenon unto themselves. They actually don't do a long of love songs. A lot of their material is about self-reflection and self-realization. Some of it's fun and poppy. Some of it is dark and moody. They're pro singers, dancers, rappers. Check out some of their other stuff and get a sense of their versatility ... it's mind-blowing!
