I have a question, I have sliding glass doors that we are etching a crane standing in wetlands on. If I choose to paint part of the etching, would the color be permanent? I am experimenting on the old glass doors that will soon be replaced.

Adding it to the list as the other two projects are almost done. Thank-you! I have alcohol inks, you didn't show how to use them. I can get the buffing cream, is that more durable? I know it's only handwash but wondering about how long the shine lasts. Also, our etchall in the USA is cloudy, and we like the tone on tone, yours is a golden color. Do you know if that makes a difference. I would think not, just asking. Anymore tips would help.
The alcohol inks are super messy. I can show them in a tutorial in the next couple of weeks if you want. The rub n buff is not what I would call super shiny it is a dull shine if that makes sense. I’ve hand washed a fair few times and not had a issue but our water is soft so that makes a difference as well. In regards to the etchall, I don’t know is the honest answer.❤️
If those metallic Markers are Alcohol Based... it might work. Always have a TEST glass on hand so you can test products out to see if you get your desired result BEFORE using it on your main glass piece.
Kinda of... with the alcohol ink it is a liquid so it can run everywhere. most come in dropper bottle so you would just let tiny drops land into the etched area and keep them in the etched areas only as best to can and let it sit. Keep something underneath your item to soak up any excess that manages to run away from you. An ideal thing to have on hand to help distribute if it is not doing it simply by adding drops onto he etched surface is a small thin paint brush... this will allow you to move the ink around a little bit.
You could, there is no reason you couldn't, but keep in mind the product like Rub N Buff might actually mess the edges of your stencil. As far as re-using... I do not have a cricket... I actually to etching by hand with diamond tipped bits and a rotary tool... I don't use stencils because I do not do acid etching.... so I am not sure if those stencils are reusable. A lot depends on the material it is made from. There is a company online that sell blank sheets that you can create your own etching stencils on... one type are reusable... meaning you can use the same stencil up to 10 times, but you have to follow their instructions of how to properly remove it off the glass surface once you rinse the acid etching stuff off... and how to reapply back onto the stick sheet to store it until you need it again. If you like to know where to find it, let me know and I will share the name and the product info with you.
I have a question. when using alcohol ink, after painting it onto the etching areas and leaving it there for 15-20 minutes, do I need to remove any excess ink that didn't land on the etched areas so that way there's no mistake when trying to hand wash it with warm water to finish it out? Or will it wash out completely while the etched areas stay colored after waiting for 15-20 minutes? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
The Alcohol Ink will only stink into and stick to the roughed up etching surface... it shouldn't stick permanently to the smooth glass. If you are unsure... always have a TEST glass on hand and test out the product before you use it on your main glass piece.
I’m not sure you’ll be able to etch a ceramic pan because of the coating. I’ve personally not tried it. Pyrex for example can take up to 24hours with the cream on and the results can be very hit and miss. I would personally do a bit of research before trying it and I certainly wouldn’t try it on a ceramic item that holds value either monetary or sentimentally❤️
Is the colour permanent? It’s long lasting but as with all things it’s highly dependent on the situation. I advise hand washing only. Or even just wipe down with a cloth and light liquid soap if possible. I did these in the summer and they have been on my dining room table until the start of December and are doing absolutely fine. ❤️ The quality of slate, etch, inks and water (hard, clay etc) and soap used will all make a difference ❤️

What do I use to wipe off the excess from the paint pens? When I use alcohol. It takes of everything. Not just the excess. I am etching words on shot glasses. So they are small and difficult to fill in and easy to have excess. I have waited to be sure the pens has dried but the moment I try any alcohol to remove excess, it removes from the etched area as well as the excess.

What would you recommend for a white 9x13 inch ceramic pan that has a rough bottom?

paint pens work well with etched glass as well....just apply to area and wipe off excess...paint stays on etched area.
