this guy is simply amazing! I've been studying his style and technique for little while, and what I found is that he NEVER runs out of licks and ideas! NEVER!
I agree....I respect all the great gypsy players.....but Mr.Debarre is by far my favorite....he has this featherlight touch, I can't put my finger on it, but it's just amazing!
His playing is based in relations of intervals , not on scales or arpeggios, so he can use all notes , There're not wrong notes if is the next note make a correct Interval, sorry for my english
Playing melody just ahead of the beat swings and keeps a subtle separation between band and lead player so he has his own little space in time so the melody stands out better..rather than being lostca bit with backing band...jazz player's call it ..playing in the gaps
You haven't quite captured what he's saying: his point is that while the accompaniment's job is to provide a steady groove, they must also provide an element of swing/tension because this allows the soloist even more freedom and success in choosing where to place his/her notes in relation to the beat (and that needn't always be "just ahead", incidentally). Having said that, they are also clearly struggling to play badly in the "what-not-to-do" demonstration. 😉
pour revenir aux fondements et dans un autre style écoutez Bechet et ses entrées en scène !! c'etait lui qui tirait les autres car il avait quelque chose à dire et Angelo c'est pareil

Same here. There are lots of brilliant players but he's my favourite.

the best track from Angelo Debarre is Swing Paname. So very uplifting and tidy. Would be nice to see play through tutorial on that classic someday :)

I know that Younès Grandjean likes this guitarist
What is the guitar name???
"otherwise we're screwed" haha
Actually, he does not say that. I speak french, he's saying "it's incapacitating" or "it's an handicap".
The Denis Chang French-English dictionary :) merci pour la traduction
