    The order of operations when it comes to abilities is so so soooo important.
    Using second wind before critical parry is even more important because if your sword is shattered, you cant use second wind OR your edge breaker. So its possible you miss out on *half* of your available abilities.
    Also Edge Breaker is useful for one other point. Its good for maximum awaken, yes, but its also good for invulnerability to cut damage which can be so key in getting crucial cuts on your opponent's sword. But always keep in mind, if you know how to play your class right, and the timing is just right, you can get maximum awaken just the same.

      Very well put. I swear I received a similar comment on the last tutorial reminding me of EB cut invulnerability, and I said I would address it here. I forgot😭I'll for sure have it in the next one

    W dany brick very cool
    A good rule of thumb for me with my edge breaker:
    Use it whenever as Mr brick said but it's very good to use when both you and your opponents swords are almost broken. If you can get them to second wind while you still have a full sword you can get ahead in material.

    • @Dany_Brick
      @Dany_Brick  Год назад

      This is valid, good way to try to get a lead and force their second wind at the same time

  • @Electrical010

    Using samurai I come to learn is great for edge breaker.
    Since the edge breaker is holding the sword above your head, it's perfect for a full swing attack at your opponent and can be a great parry attack if you're fast enough which I managed to pull off myself.

    Great content!
    This is what we need Dany!
    I have a counter-argument on "never use Crit Parry before Second Wind": I've witness situations where a player has a resource advantage (Crit & SWind vs Crit only) and has the opportunity to use the Crit first (both on short blades) and opt to use SWind. Opponent executes his Crit, and then get a very favorable clash. Player still has a ressource advantage (Crit) but is put in a situation where his odds to execute the Crit are under 50% and gets killed. In that scenario, if he goes for the crit first (when both have limited reach) he has access to his SWind (guarantees the resource advantage) since he decides when he triggers it.
    This case is super marginal and the risk of being robbed of your SWind by a deep cut is present. Still, I see a scenario where choosing Crit before SWind is viable as a strat.

    • @Dany_Brick
      @Dany_Brick  Год назад

      Thanks!
      I see your argument Mr. Proy, and I offer you a rebuttal.
      In that specific scenario, I still think using Second Wind first is optimal. I see the reasoning for why using Parry first is viable, but this assumes a few things:
      1.) That the player with SW + Parry actually goes for a body tap after using their SW. They could instead use the length to get a tip trade, and not lose length.
      2.) That the player with only Parry left blocks the body tap attempt. Very difficult to block.
      If you instead opt to use SW first:
      - you take away a chance of them stabbing you in a Parry v. Parry battle
      - give yourself the options to tip trade or body tap
      - worst case scenario, both players get a body tap attempt with a full sword against opp's Parry, but your attempt happens first
      - guarantee that no ability is wasted
      If you don't use SW first:
      - run the risk of losing a Parry battle
      - run the risk of them hilting your sword across multiple interactions, either tying or winning the round and wasting your SW
      Essentially, using Parry first keeps the lengths of both swords the same in each interaction, and risks wasting SW. Using SW first keeps the length of the swords opposite (full vs. parry), doesn't waste SW, and gives you more options as you have the full sword first. Thus, I believe it to still be optimal to use SW first in this scenario.

    • @GuillaumePerreaultRoy
      @GuillaumePerreaultRoy Год назад

      @@Dany_Brick I agree that the case of a lower risk for "CP before SW" is real rare.
      Let's say you have a defensive option that mitigates the CP risk (active ward, shield..) --> Once you used CP successfully, the risk of being cut deep (denies access to your SW) is not higher than being denied you CP by body tap.
      Class is a factor! Against a "one-tap happy" class, it becomes a viable stat!

    • @Dany_Brick
      @Dany_Brick  Год назад

      @@GuillaumePerreaultRoy This is also true. Class plays a big factor is likelihood of a body tap landing. Another factor is playstyle. Example: If someone is generally bad at getting body taps, then using Parry first may make sense in that specific situation. I can think of very select situations where using Parry first may make sense, but I think it is never a BAD idea to use SW first. You bring up valid considerations, though.

  • @waffler-yz3gw
    @waffler-yz3gw 10 месяцев назад

    something i havent seen many people talk about is a high-risk, high-reward method of dealing with an activated edge breaker. i personally call it "challenging" the edge breaker. if your max awakening is the same, higher than, or just slightly lower than your opponent's, and you know how to get full awakening, you can get full awaken and strike your opponent's powered up sword before they can strike at you. if done correctly, this minimizes the amount of damage done (and if you're lucky, you can deal damage to your opponent) while getting rid of *no* material.

    • @Dany_Brick
      @Dany_Brick  10 месяцев назад

      This is my preferred method. I get too cocky and think I can tank every edge breaker by maxing my awaken and getting hit on the tip of my sword. Comes back to bite me a lot lmao
