Like Buster Keaton, Fatty was an extraordinary athlete and could run, jump, fall etc with the best of them.
Al St. John was a nephew of Roscoe Arbuckle.
A very high quality picture considering this was filmed a century ago. Allso some fantastic stunt work.
And the wonderful Monty Banks!
It´s beautiful, beautiful film.
That scene where Roscoe kisses the bottom of her wedding dress melts through my heart and into my soul. ❤
Funny! Funny! Funny! Funny!
The actor who played his rival is Al Saint John. He is Roscoe Arbuckle's nephew!
Yes!
Fue muy triste el destino de Fatty. Pero pienso que hoy está siendo valorizado de nuevo. Lo veo y me gustaría abrazarlo muy fuerte y decirle: " Gracias por las risas, hermano".
Arbuckle was a great man. Sad that they destroyed his career.
A very funny man who had everything but then lost it ! He did it to himself but his comedy will live forever and i will alway enjoy his comedy ! There no turning back the clock once you live it !
What the wonderful comedian ? God rest everyone soul.Ameen
yes he was a wonderful comedian!
Amén.
It makes you wonder. He was of a substantial size. Very physical performer. I wonder how often they had to reapply his makeup. He had to sweat like nobody’s business…
The girl is Winifred Westover the wife (for a while) of William S. Hart. Hart was one of a bunch who vehemently condemned Arbuckle at the 1921 Trial that found Arbuckle innocent but destroyed his on screen career. The high wheeling bike ride is Al St. John, Arbuckle's nephew.
yes!
I feel so bad for Arbuckle. He was one of the first pioneers of comedy in movies to have his name smeared like that and ruined his life. Poor guy - RIP to all.
The actress who played his love interest looks as if she could've been kirsten dunst's grandmother!.
True!! They are identical
👍👍👍👍
Толстячок, а приятно.®️
My guess would be Buster Keaton would have played the Mario Bianchi role if he hadnt been called off to war
i wish they credited the supporting cast, particularly the female co-stars!
Amazing how much mileage they could get out of a gag.
Charlie Chaplin or Billy West?
Little girl,
Go your way.
I don't touch you
And you don't touch me.
Don't wrap me
Like a huntress, flags.
Please don't tease me
With your pies.
Not needed and a gift to me
Your cool buns.
I know how it ends
Similar walks.
I know that such meetings
Promise us only troubles,
And what do they lead to
Similar innocent conversations.
Ivonin.
anyone know what kind of hat Roscoe wore in this film?
It looks like a derby hat to me.
Wow pause at 8:30 what happened to half of his teeth?
Al St. John, Arbuckle's nephew, was definitely tooth challenged. In later decades he played a character in Westerns called Fuzzy, usually without dentures. I actually think he's great: ruclips.net/video/c2e5slg0UhQ/видео.html
He had them knocked out at an early age and since it gave him a distinctive smile, he just went with it!
They even had bullies in 1919 Fatty was cruel to the lady that he called her fat
Pot, meet black kettle…
Not to mention that his “pretty fat” joke was probably already dated by 1919.
I was a little stunned by that scene.
