  • In this video, you can observe a therapeutic approach that addresses challenging or seemingly insurmountable behaviors as an integral part of the treatment process. This approach avoids provoking conflicts or responding with judgmental statements towards the individual seeking assistance. Instead, the behavior is reinterpreted as an authentic expression of frustration and powerlessness.
Validation serves as the initial step in the therapist's strategy. Roland provides a safe space for the expression of anger, understanding the underlying reasons for these interruptions while also acknowledging his own limitations. Simultaneously, he articulates what is amiss and consistently reminds Anne* of her therapeutic goals and the skills she has acquired through DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). This approach necessitates maintaining a steadfast, composed demeanor characterized by humility, acceptance, and effective emotional regulation.
In these tapes, available on Psyflix, expert Roland Sinnaeve demonstrates how DBT can be applied.

Interesting demonstration... I can see a combination of Person-Centred, Mindfulness and CBT in the DBT approach.

Really good , I can see a bit more how DBT can work. My mother had BPD, need a gentle way to get her to go to a therapist.

He was alright before he violated her wishes about the goddamn singing bowl. What disrespect!

I think its a tactic to observe not only her reaction, but her choice. Will she make the decision to be angry? Or will she choose acceptance. “He did it again, In this moment I choose to accept whats been done. Rather than react to it”

This is called in therapy “corrective experience” by challenging her assumption and creating a space being open to a different outcome then she expected. He is very good!

Does she actually have BPD or is she role playing?

I actually wanted to follow her journey, now I see it was propaganda. Portrait of betrayal. We're all used to fake help, but fake hurt? Seems pandering.
