- Halle Bailey, who plays Disney's live-action Princess Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid,' went to see the movie incognito opening weekend. In a TikTok, the actress revealed how she remained undetected by fans, wearing sunglasses and a face mask. Halle snagged a bucket of popcorn and snuck into a screening of the movie without anyone realizing who she was.

The movie was so great. It wasn’t a Black movie or White movie, it was a movie for EVERYONE. I don’t understand the complaints or concerns. This movie literally has everyone from everywhere in it. The world, and ocean, through Ron Marshall’s eyes is a beautiful place.

I’m a 34 year old dude who loved Ariel as a child, and I LOVED Halle’s performance as Ariel. Ngl I felt a bit choked up at times when the little boy in me was watching the movie, kept thinking “This is actually real” it was truly magical for me

My daughter and nieces would have lost their minds if they knew she was at their showing. I knew why she was chosen as Ariel because I've listened to her and her sister Chloé's music. She has an amazing voice and seems so sweet.

Took my kids to see it this past week myself. No lie when Halle sings part of your world I cried. Even just now hearing it at the end of this clip tears started falling again. She sounds Just like Ariel. And the cast is beautiful because they are a diverse cast. I cried about that too😢it was wonderful. I just wish there was a little more comical parts

Please ignore bad reviews (most of which are trashing it without having seen it in protest of a black lead), see the film and judge for yourself.
Listen, I was prepared to hate this movie. I knew Halle would be great as Ariel but, overwhelmingly, the Disney remakes really haven't been worth it. The only two that I consider rewatchable are Cinderella and Aladdin. Other than that, the rest have ranged from meh (Beauty & The Beast, Cruella) to just plain bad (The Lion King, Mulan). I had very low expectations for this movie so for me to come out of the theater smiling was a wonderful surprise. As expected, Halle does a beautiful job as Ariel. Her voice is unbelievable, the emotion she lends to the character is a great and she just shines in the role. Daveed Diggs as Sebastian and Awkwafina as Scuttle were perfect and provided a lot of laughs throughout. I was scratching my head at Melissa McCarthy as Ursula but she nailed it. I was impressed with her singing but she also brought a refreshing humor to the character as well. With the exception of Eric's song (😬little cringey) all of the new music was great (especially the Scuttlebutt song!). Halle's "Part of Your World" brought me to tears (and I am NOT a crier) and stands toe-to-toe with the original Jodi Benson version, and while I still prefer the original "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl", the newer versions hold their own well enough. Overall, I was happily surprised and truly enjoyed the film. Watch it and judge for yourself.
