No MP should be allowed to accept any gifts or freebies as it could be perceived as a bribe or corruption. It seems "Greed Is Good" is a politicians way of life.
I wonder if they get taxed on this income ?
If they did ban gifts they would simply "earn" huge fees as an event speaker instead.
Always enjoy the podcast. This one made me angry. Ruth and Beth moralizing about PM Starmer funding his wardrobe?? How much money was taken for NHS contracts by the previous government? How many people are in line for the NHS?

No, he shouldnt say sorry. He should acknowledge that his pledge to end cronyism was a complete lie. He should accept that he cares nothing for the people he governs, and that his entire idealogy is a conplete facade. He should state all of these things publically and then step aside. Pretty simple really.

Don't know how Ruth can slate Starmer after supporting the last 14 yrs of cronyism and donation etc leave Starmer alone and let him get on with it x maybe Labour should change rules for everyone rather than just Starmer saying he won't take stuff x

Acceptance of gifts, benefits and hospitality
Even schools and medical institutions have restrictions on what gifts teachers, Nurses and Doctors can receive. Some even prohibit them.
As for Starmer saying that taxpayers would have to pay more tax for his security at Arsenal games why can he not pay for the tickets himself and/or provide his own security. He is in the executive suites not in with regular fans who pay far too much for the tickets.
As Sky said in one article. He had received two-and-a-half times more gifts and hospitality than any other MP, totalling £107,145, since December 2019.
Sir Keir declared £12,588 of gifts from the Premier League; including four Taylor Swift tickets during the election campaign worth £4,000; two Euros finals tickets worth £1,628; and numerous tickets spanning several Arsenal matches adding up to well over £6,000.
Starmer gets enough money for his lifestyle anyway.
Pensioner on 11,500 will not receive it !

Pity no one on Starmer's team listened to this and warned him before Beth interviewed him. She asked exactly the questioons she said she would and he had his puny justification, wittering about his son's GCSEs and the Sky News Party - terminal whataboutery?
