there was a beach in the Philippines that had a sign that read: swim at your own risk- big waves. My brother, sister, and I were like okay! that sounds fun! For the most part it was, and all the waves were big but not big enough to consume us, but then one very huge wave started to form. We all tried to run for it but the wave was pulling us in. We almost drowned that day, but luckily we all survived.

I was out at the Great Barrier Reef with many people in November of last year. I was stung in the face three times by a clear jelly and I surely gave the staff on the pontoon boat a scare. Thankfully it wasn't a deadly box jelly.

The last one scares me, I would be so afraid if I got pulled out to deep waters with no one to help me and I am far away from a safe shore, it would be so tiring to try swim back and who knows what creatures could be in the water...
Remember the golden rule; if you start to get pulled out (by a rip tide). Don't swim against it straight back to shore. Swim parallel to the shore, you might have to swim for a few dozen metres (usually less) but you'll eventually get out of the rip tide and find it easier to make it back to shore.
same I almost got pulled out to sea when I was a baby or probably 4yrs old in Trinidad and Tobago.

OK so it's what I thought. We have the same huge seaweeds here but we can only find them in deep water so I had never seen them through the waves. I have always thought that they are frightening but on the picture, they look like tentacles... Absolutely scary. That's why I wondered if it was real or fake. I would not swim here for sure !

Omg!! The first beach is the one I went to on my vacation to Florida 2 years ago!!! And something bumped me when I was hitting waves w/ my boogie board. It was scary to i got out of the water. :)

I got to Imperial beach in California, Chula Vista, it’s nice over there, but I hate the sand getting in my swim wear and the sand in the waves, and the farther I get, it’s the same tide but bigger waves are and it’s nice, but other then that I love that beach, went their with my cousins

I grew up surfing New Smyrna Beach!! It’s so Sharky there but not big shark but still sharks everywhere!! I got bit on my foot walking out in about 4 foot of water nothing serious at all!
I live near staithes it’s a lovely little place. There is very little tourism there because it’s so close to the historic town of Whitby, nothing to do with the water quality and the surfing I am told is better a few miles away in saltburn. Tbh the water is awful all along the Teesside/North Yorkshire coast. The place is covered in chemical works and old abandoned mines that leach into the small stream the are present at the beaches. Such a shame, beautiful coastline.
