  • This is a long video, but I have some shorter videos on how to change pump, how to change motor belt, how to change overflow drain and how to replace pads and the shorter videos have more details.

Last year I set up my own swamp cooler with ONLY the knowledge I had gotten from you-tube videos and they DID NOT talk about oiling the bearings OR HOW to set a float! I ended up on my roof every other day messing with that float because I was somewhat disabled from a torn meniscus in my knee and didn't have money to call a HVAC company. One day the cooler started giving me issues and I called a friend and he said the bearings have to be oiled and this year YOU SHOWED ME HOW!!!! As a Woman in my 50's I AM Sooooooo THANKFUL FOR YOU AND YOUR VIDEO!!!! IT EMPOWERED ME AS A WOMAN AND SAVED ME $350 PLUS DOLLARS!!!!! I sincerely hope you know how much your video meant to me!!! As a diabetic I can't take the heat and the temp in my house has already dropped 10 degrees in 20 minutes!!!! THANK YOU FOR THE EDUCATION!!!! Blessings, Felicia

Thanks for your nice comment, I am so glad you had the confidence to work on this and learn how to do it yourself, that's great.

Sir, how long does it take to change the swamp cooler motor? Easy or difficult?

omg, we had one at our building, and it went uncovered for years, and the pan rusted, and the pads blew out. miracle we did not have to replace the unit lol.

I thought the aspen media ones were better than synthetic? just curious, to each their own I guess. I love getting stuff like this re conditioned and working again...

When you use the cheap aspen pads should I fold them to make them thicker?

    • @fromthepeanutgallery1084

No don't make thicker. Aspen pads are 25% more efficient than the blue pads. Much better and cooler. Change regular, make sure no dry spots and fits and covers the whole grill, not short anywhere with any holes where hot air can come in. Same with dry spots, make sure evenly wet.

Blue pads are far less efficient than Aspen. Would not recommend.

dude you have to tell them to unplug the power first. you can not just hose it up with water without telling them to unplug it from the power outlet. you are gonna kill these people. safety first do you know?

Good idea, but the power to a swamp cooler should be turned of via power source (fuse) before working on it.

    those synthetic coolers aren't effective

that is what I heard as well... you want those aspen pads 80% efficient, blue and green are in the 20's...
