I visited Tawi-tawi years ago as a student for coral research and was so thankful my mom did not stop me despite the common perception of the place. The place is beautiful and people were nice and welcoming. Thank you for capturing the beauty of this place. This video brings back so much memories.
I was pretty emotional while watching this. Yup, I can attest that it's really safe to visit Tawi-Tawi as we experienced it last 2016. The current mayor during that time gave us a free Panampangan Island tour. My gas, I wish we could go back and catch up with the people we met back then. Good job, Erwan! 😘

Speaking as a half Samal. Tawi-Tawi is a fucking shithole, I lived there with my relatives for a while, makes me so grateful that I was raised in Manila. If you have a large family and resides in a community island with a population of hundreds or whatnot, you'll be perfectly fine. However, if you are in the capital Bongao or atleast close to the main island, it's a VERY dangerous place. You're basically residing with illiterate and desperate people along with most of the country's terrorists squandering around the islands.

One of a kind vlog! You left most Filipinos in awe of exploring the southernmost tip of our beautiful country and revealed such a beautiful place! The bambike is dope and that should be promoted more! Tawi tawi will soon be a tourist destination just like how Batanes became one in the recent years.

I'm from Simunul and documentaries like this one makes me happy. Tawi-Tawi is still fighting over the misconception of being a dangerous place, which is not the case btw. I've been to Manila and Zamboanga City but whenever people hear that I'm from Tawi-Tawi they immediately thought that the reason I was in Manila or ZC was because I was fleeing instead of travelling for vacation. I do hope people will appreciate how people in Tawi-Tawi cherished peace more than anything else.
Also, the Sangay Siapo, the island between Bongao and Simunul, has been renovated and made to cater tourist. You can also rent the place and have your wedding in the island. Hopefully you can all visit after the pandemic.

We used to live there way back in 1988-89 because my father was a religious teacher called (ustadz), he teaches Qur'an, all the memories that I had with that place is still fresh in my memory, like it was just yesterday, we lived in SIBUTO island then afterward's moved to a smaller island called SIPANGKOT. During a full moon, the sea is so beautiful because it's like a mirror reflecting to the sea. At night it's so peaceful and so Silent. all you can see is the big full moon and all the stars that twinkling all over the sky. you still can see the big, medium and even small fishes swimming under your house because the water is so clear like a crystal. Those were a memory that will always be in my heart. And every time I saw the moon especially full moon it brings me back to that memory. I hope these beautiful parts of the island in the Php can be famous and get a good press report, not the bad one. Tawi-Tawi deserves more exposure because of its beauty that even to this very day some were still untouched by a human. 💗💖💓🌟🌙

Indonesia has Raja Ampat as beautiful tourism destination. The government and local people run the place with good manajemen and some set rules. If you can do it the same for Tawi2 then it can benefit to economies for the local people. Preserve the local religion, culture, food and enviromant.

Hi, I was born and raised in Tawi-Tawi, although I am not staying there anymore, I can truly agree with you. I've been to other places and most of them are already destroyed by tourists and also by the negligence of the government and the people. I just hope Tawi-Tawi remains untouched but a part of me wants Tawi-Tawi to be a tourist spot as well. It could generate more businesses and jobs for the people there. I just hope that if that day comes, The tourists would respect the place and the people, the culture and the local religion. I also hope that when that happens, the people and the government could maintain what Tawi-Tawi has always been... ...a paradise. :)
