I'm an old head. Got into football while living in England in 1996. THIS is what United was back then. Dallas Cowboys for sure hahaha.
Fact about the Man United keeper, Van der Sar. After Schmeichel left, they had a few years of struggling to find a keeper to replace him, he left in 1999 and then in 2005 they signed Van der Sar he joined them at 34 years old and left (retired) at 40. When he retired in the 6 years he was at United (playing at an old age) he won 1 Champions League, 4 league titles, 2 league cups. He even won the league at 40 years old. Very underrated player IMO and I’m not even a United fan

He is arguably the best centre half ever in the premier league, was always very slow but had elite positioning and a phenomenal defensive mind, read the game unbelievably well, his defensive partner at this time was Ricardo Carvalho, won the Champions League with Porto under Mourinho and then when Mourinho went to Chelsea the next season he took him with, the first season in 04/05 they won the league and the partnership of Terry and Carvalho conceded a record low of just 15 goals in the whole league season.
Edit: he’s also the one who slipped in the penalty shootout.
