    Awesome review. I narrowed down ranging monoculars to these two and was very happy to see this review pop up in my search. I really want to like the Bushnell, but the Vortex reticle is so much better (offset for just viewing, includes numbers, and human silhouettes). Is this an actual reason to pick the Vortex or is the Bushnell reticle fine? Ranging is my primary use-case.

    Good comparison! You mentioned in other comments that the Bushnell and Vortex monoculars are both now outdated. Which newer monoculars with mil reticles would you recommend?

      @@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan - Thanks! I’ve been eyeing the Bushnell. Looks like there are 2 versions of the mil reticle with a price difference. I wonder if one is an older model being cleared out.

      Excellent question, I would say the Bushnell because of the larger diameter objective and ability to be installed in a tripod easily. The vortex isn't bad though!

    Nice! I have an eye that turns out so binoculars don't work for me and I find that while hunting They're too bulky and spend most of the time in the backpack which is not helpful. I tried the Vortex but found it not good enough. Thanks to this review I'll try the Bushnell.

    Man, I wish they had the Bushnell 10x and larger glass with the Vortex retical and closer to the Vortex weight. Out of the two for outdoors exploring and ranging, likely never off a tripod, what do you think is better? Ideally out to 1000m, if at all possible with either set of glass.

      Eh, tough call but maybe the Zeiss models are good for your needs

      @@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan whoah, that was a left field answer, haha. Why Zeiss? I'm not seeing anything with a reticle?

    • @GTMGunTotinMinnesotan
      @GTMGunTotinMinnesotan  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah I know, but if it's just exploring then consider dropping the reticle function in favor of image quality and weight. Otherwise I suppose to Bushnell. At this point though the glass is somewhat outdated

      @Jazz3006 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Oh, no, sorry. The primary function would be used for ranging/spotting with exploring as an added benefit. I would just get a rangefinder, but these things seem significantly more durable and would probably work better from the spotting perspective if I understand correctly. As far as glass being outdated, I think you mentioned that the Bushnell was better than the Vortex, so are you saying that they are both outdated at this point?

    • @GTMGunTotinMinnesotan
      @GTMGunTotinMinnesotan  10 месяцев назад

      I do believe they are both outdated compared to newer products. That being said I still use both of them with success I just want to be completely transparent about where the market is at for glass quality. Can you get a better image? Yes. But I have used both to spot for a friend at 1,030 yards and I could see misses in the dirt as well as my target moving left to right but that might have to do with the fact that it's a quarter inch thick Target so it moves well. Good luck, enjoy whatever one you go with!

    What flip cap did you get for the Bushnell? Fantastic review, this really helped me make my decision.

    Bummer these monocular only come with Mrad reticle. I wanted to use these for sizing targets during matches.

    torn between the Bushnell and the Vortex.. I would be just using them occasionally in the wilderness when i go camping and to keep in my survival pack for whatever reason they could come in useful for. I could see myself using it a lot just to scope out the areas i am looking to set up camp, like across a small lake.

      @@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Thank you, i was leaning toward the Vortex!
      I would prefer binoculars to be honest, but i just love the compact size, which is why i was leaning toward the Solo r/t, as it seems smaller than the Bushnell.

      Yeah I've never been a huge Bushnell fan to be honest, except their top tier offerings, but this actually seems decent man! Say, I saw you recently had a Horus, were they easy to get ahold of? I sent them some messages but I'm having trouble getting response 🤔.

    A flip cap in the rear would get in the way of putting the monocular to your eye.
