They put my spend down at $698 a month but don't accept that half my ssdi goes to child support arrears and only see 625 on my ssdi and cannot afford the $698 a month for my spend down. I'm 53 and permanently disabled. I was awarded 1,545 for disability and only owe arrears for child support and they take half my ssdi for child support. And with all the medicine I pay for being diabetic I cannot afford to live much less be able to pay the $698 spend down. Anything I can do to remove my spend down in Missouri? Any help is appreciated.
It cannot be eliminated as it is based on gross income. That said, Missouri allows you to use the bills from up to three months that were not enough to meet the spend down and apply them to future months. Oftentimes, people will fill meds on 90 days supplies and use this strategy to help get coverage for their medication. I am a licensed Medicare agent as well if you wanted to talk about options there that might help. You can email me at roy@resourcecenterinc.com
My sister has worked for Wal-Mart for over 15 year and she has severe degenerative disc disease that needs immediate treatment or she could become paralyzed. She cannot afford insurance that Walmart offers and she makes just a little bit too much to qualify for Medicaid. Is this spend down an option for her, or is there any other options? Illinoise is where she lives.
