I have a brass ball valve where your plug is and leave the garden hose connected all the time. Then just put the hose in a 5 gallon bucket and it will suck it out just fine. I thought of filling the engine with a couple gallons of vinegar, but never have.
Since it is saltwater cooled, we flush it every time we use it, unless we plan to use it the next day. If the boat was in fresh water then it would only need flushed with antifreeze to winterize it.

Great idea!
How often you do this?
