I hope we get to follow you and Denver (+ Nate 😂) close this year. From training to show! I'm so excited for you going to shows again 🤩🥰 I have never been interested in other horsebreeds then icelandic horses before. But I started follow you and your farm 1 year ago and you showing us these amazing quarter horses almost wants me to try to ride one 😂👍 I enjoy every moment you and your team share with us. Thanks for including us in your journey 🫶
I honestly don't care what Aaron talks about, I'll listen to him read the AQHA rules :P He has a lovely voice. Great teacher btw, hearing him explain the buttons and how to use them while watching Denver was really fascinating. I'd love to hear about Aarons career so far, what get him into Western Pleasure as a trainer, any childhood ponies he had :)
Denver is an amazing stallion! To be able to put an inexperienced rider on him in an unfamiliar environment!! Says everything I need to know. What an amazing stallion!! I’ve only seen one other like that!!
Katie may be rusty, but she’s not an inexperienced rider at all. She competed on a National level in AQHA since she was 12. She Started showing when she was like 2. She may not ride as much as she used to, and may need to ride a few times to find her seat again. But she’s not inexperienced. She’s just rusty. lol.
@@garyandnicoleclarke245Definitely not a champion. She showed but was very much what is called a “class filler” as she was never a top competitor. She mostly chased boys and liked to draw attention to herself by doing things like randomly singing at the top of her lungs walking down the barn aisle. 😂
As a horse girl from the 70’s early 80’s showing western pleasure, I saw the change of the high arched neck to the start of the flat neck lope. But the speed change is so surprising to me. We rode slow but not how slow you all ride now. It’s so different! I would love to see the training that goes into getting to that pace. Denver is so great already. I’m excited to see more.
Back when I rode, (same time frame) we did not use two hands on the reins. We used one hand with reins draped to one side. Why did that change? It looks really uncomfortable.
I can't believe how well trained Denver is for such a young boy. Every body movement means something totally different to him, and its great to see that Aron let's Denver acknowledge the request and let's him move through it at his own speed. Awesome horse and phenomenal trainer, I can't wait to see them in the ring this year.
Nate's a natural! He's going to be wanting his own horse to show! Katie I look forward to watching you show Denver this year. He's such a nice stallion, and I can see him as an all Around horse in the future.
As a dressage rider who showed for 15 years and then moved into the western world, I would LOVE a video describing the body mechanics of western pleasure and how it’s NOT harmful to the horse. I have always thought the western pleasure world didn’t allow their horses to extend and really use their body properly. But watching this lesson, it’s clear that Denver doesn’t hate his job aka feel any pain and what not. I would LOVE to hear about how western pleasure still keeps the horse engaged just at a different level. In dressage, we want the horses body to always be moving in a forward movement even when stopping and backing, really keeping the body round. It looks like the goal in your video was still the same! I just want to hear how it’s broke down and how it’s NOT a disservice to the horse. I whole heartedly believe the western pleasure world has a lot of misconceptions so I want to hear it all broke down by a professional! Denver looked amazing and relaxed and yet so forward in a lot of his movements, please educate my brain🙂
What an amazing teacher Aaron is, so calm and able to explain so well. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to his thought process as he directed you both
No confusion with western pleasure but I absolutely loved Aaron’s explanation breakdown of everything from how to do it to what you should feel/see. Very helpful! Can’t wait for this series!!!
I’m a non horse person and I would be really grateful if your series explained the exercises asked during a show and what to look for also maybe why those exercises were I adopted to begin with? Katie you are amazing and your team is so great! Aaron is phenomenal and of course Denver is beautiful
As a former show jumping rider I am so impressed by how sensitive he is! I would like to learn anything and everything about western riding, hoping to learn how to ride like this one day!
As with many things with horses I think it is important to note this horse is a result of years of selective breeding...on a horse that was not built and bred for the western pleasure discipline let alone western riding, in general, acheiving Denter's 'level' would be very challenging or near impossible...I don't say this to discourage just set accuarate expectations. I myself grew up riding English and Western so I understand the difference between the two quite well. Riding a well trained and built for it western horse is, indeed, my favorite, as it is mostly seat and more relaxing than English ridiing, imo. Cheers
Denver is a beautiful and gentle stallion but it looks funny with him working with his head down. Whatever happened to the majestic look of a horse holding their heads high and proud.
Would love to see videos of how a horse is trained to go over the poles, do the side step, turning, etc, never seen a horse being trained, so seeing that would be awesome. I know it takes a long time, but do you use enforcements, etc, to do it.
Aaron is an Amazing trainer I did not know there was so much involved I love listening to him and explain what go on Nice job I have learned so much for you page thank you katie
I love when you do these educational videos. I grew up with horses, but never had any riding lessons. Looking forward to more content like this and learning more from Aaron. He seems like an amazing teacher.
Great video. Enjoyed the lesson. I had a little quarter horse 50 years ago. We only did some trail rides and some training in the pasture to “bond” with her, but I would never say I was more than a very basic novice.
I think it would be great to have the lingo and vocab explained along with visuals. Mayne quizzes along the way where you show us non-horsey peeps what it means to do different patterns?? What is a canter or gallop or lope, etc? The educator in me has a lesson formed with different learning/teaching strategies already. I just don't have the knowledge to plug into it.
When Mr. Moses simply says "tap-tap-cluck" to initiate a jog, that training went miles for me. My new horse is trained w/ fancy buttons, but I am not. I was "kick-kick-kicking and clucking like a chicken. It would be great to see a "classroom" session w/ white board on how to use buttons/legs/pressure. Kind of like drivers ed for pleasure riders. Your horse is stunning.
This was so much fun! Denver is so impressive with the giraffes to the left of him, pretty mares to the right, and he did good! Aaron, Katie, and Nate - you all were awesome too.
Looking so good out there, both you and Denver! Love Aaron's coaching style...so much different than my dad's 😂😂😂😂 The yelling and hand waving wasn't exactly motivating for me or the horse...😂 From chasing cattle and bush sporting to being in a corral, I couldn't imagine the poor habits I developed! Go Nate!!!! 👏
That man knows horse behavior and training. I have a fear of horses after a bad experience in Mexico. But they are smart, intuitive animals that I love watching. This is a great video! Thanks! Happy New Year!!
Denver is gorgeous!! Denver getting sassy when Nate jumped on to ride made for a giggle 🤭 Excited for 2025, hope to see lots on Noelle and the new babies coming in 2025, still love to see all the beautiful animals, the minis are delicious ❤
One thing I would LOVE for you and Aaron to cover is how come a wp horse tracks to the inside with their hindquarters during the lope vs tracking straight underneath themselves? Coming from a dressage background this has always been something I didn’t understand. Oh and Denver is a gorgeous dude and Aaron has done a phenomenal job with him! Your very blessed to have both in your life 🫶🏼
So excited for us to put a comment in first For like absolutely love your channel and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and the files that are coming
Aaron is such a patient and kind person and explains things so well! I love that Nate got on Denver, he did a great job! Did Aaron stay in Texas while Denver has been there?
This was interesting. I know nothing about horses, except what I've picked up here. I showed dogs - I understand gait, down & back, take him around, etc. So learning what the terminology in horses means as well as looks like will be fascinating.
This video is sooo exciting to watch! New to Western Pleasure riding and would love to know the basics as well all the advance and in depth riding and training of rider! Love your Chanel and new to western pleasure show riding!! Thanks for all you do Katie! Unbelievable stallion!! 😊 Happy New Year and warmest regards, Felicia Farmer
Hey, I really think you should dive deeper into the lope! A lot of people have their facts all mixed up about it. Your videos are seriously inspiring me to chase my childhood dreams! I used to be obsessed with the Quarter Horse Journal when I was younger and always dreamed of going to the big shows. That passion is burning bright inside me! Haha, I love your videos, and I can’t get enough!
What a wonderful horse. That peanut rolling canter is wild. His isn’t to exagwrated like some I’ve seen but I’m trying to get used to watching it because it looks so weird! I am sure ir feels very different for him with different riders. Such a good boy. He looks lovely in all his gaits.
While Arabians are my preferred breed quarter horses are a very close second. He's fantastic. You can see his kind eye besides all his other great qualities. Miss Katie your horsemanship shows through in your horses! Hats off to you😊. Love the videos.
I was so excited for you Katie! I can’t imagine having someone like Aaron giving a lesson on a beautiful stallion! I had no clue when he was giving you instructions on what to do and when. I would love for Aaron to talk about instructions for the rider and the horse. How long does it take to train a horse in Western Pleasure and the other events? What makes a horse better in one area vs another? How long have you been working with Denver? What are your thoughts on showing a2 year old vs a 3 year old? We know Katie will not show a 2 year old. I do know that some trainers and owners do show 2 year olds. How many horses do you train at a time? How many lessons will Katie need to learn Denver and his training before she can show him? Would she show him in a small event vs the Congress or World? I have so many questions and I am so excited to learn. Thank you for showing a little of what is to come. Katie you looked amazing on Denver, he is just so exciting to see him work and show his talents. Thank you Aaron for training this young stallion, I don’t know much about this field, but I know he is a special stallion!
I am older than you guys and was showing in the 90's. The age of the "peanut roller", I am glad they fixed that. In my days, showing 2yr olds under saddle was not done as much. Are the pleasure horses today having more soundness issues?
I was trained as an English rider, including dressage, where horses carry their heads totally differently. What I would like to find out is why Western Pleasure Horses carry their heads so low, and the how you control the horse with a long/loose rein.
Me too! Also why start riding a horse that's only 2 yo, and not wait another year? and then the gait.. when l see how he walks and trots, l hear my mother saying 'lift your feet'!😂😂😂 and someone else 'he needs some spanish pepper'😂😂 But l only did the English riding.. and since l follow Katie l see different 'kinds' of riding a horse..
It’s not that different it’s still mostly seat/leg aids (you hear her trainer say pressure/blocking with leg is the cue to come down a gait and not direct rein pressure) , bend and set of the neck is through the rein in contact on/off the neck and as the bit is shanked a lift of the hand is enough of a cue for the horse to read also. I ride English but have ridden western a good few times, and also polo etc, there’s so much to learn in each discipline!
Aaron: I will sure be looking forward to the answers on this, so thank you in advance! I have two very general questions that I'm sure a bunch of old timers share. 1. What is the function of having the headset of a bloodhound? 2. What is the function of the 2 or 3mph jog when a good horse is still smooth as silk trotting 4 or 5mph. Heck, I'd think going so slow would create bouncing. Back in the 1970s we had beautiful (almost) natural looking headsets as far as height off the ground, and we allowed our horse to have more movement back then. I'd almost rename today's 'jog' the "AQHA collected constipation". LOL Anyway, I truly do look forward to your answer because I really want to know if this is all just a horrible fad gone way wrong and some brave top tier horsemen & horsewomen need to stand up and break the mold to free the horses from unnecessary restraints. If I have it all wrong, I look forward to a lecture on the function and physiology of western pleasure.
I’m definitely interested in learning more about western pleasure. My main questions are: What are the judges looking for? What aids do you use and when? How do you start working with a horse who is new to western pleasure?
What a good baby stallion! I have a dressage background and seems to me the slower pace is just a form of asking for super collection and hind end engagement… very curious to hear you and Aaron talk about it and compare the equitation and development of a western pleasure horse to how I’ve been taught to develop a dressage mount.
Denver looks so smooth! In your upcoming series could you explain more about why there are the differences between two handed & single handed reining - what are the benefits of the two styles
I hope Aaron has some space in his barn, and time on the calendar.... Denver is perfect, so this podcast is going to be great! Aaron is going to get SOOOO much business, he will have people on a list waiting 😂
Not to discount Aaron’s talent but he definitely has A LOT more time and room in his barn these days because he lost a lot of his business after the huge incident at the Premier horse show in Kentucky a couple years ago. It was a disaster and is also the reason he’s no longer married.
Anyone else super impressed by Nate's riding skills?! I think he needs an Ethel like horse for Christmas next year!
I hope we get to follow you and Denver (+ Nate 😂) close this year. From training to show! I'm so excited for you going to shows again 🤩🥰
I have never been interested in other horsebreeds then icelandic horses before. But I started follow you and your farm 1 year ago and you showing us these amazing quarter horses almost wants me to try to ride one 😂👍

Agreed would love to know more about how Aaron’s career journey and what influences him ! He sounds like a great teacher
I hope she has Aaron on her podcast this coming year
I agree
Aaron seems like a very good and patient trainer. Can't wait for the new series
Denver is an amazing stallion! To be able to put an inexperienced rider on him in an unfamiliar environment!! Says everything I need to know. What an amazing stallion!! I’ve only seen one other like that!!
I was under the impression that Katie was a AQHA Champion. So she is experienced but needs some tuning after being grounded for a few years.
Katie is a Experienced rider
Katie may be rusty, but she’s not an inexperienced rider at all. She competed on a National level in AQHA since she was 12. She Started showing when she was like 2. She may not ride as much as she used to, and may need to ride a few times to find her seat again.

The comment was referring to Nate getting on Denver, I assume.

I think the slow lope looks really unnatural.
Aaron is an Amazing trainer! Wow! Everyone is so talented but Denver’s training and how Aaron knows the horses is amazing.
Just beautiful

I know absolutely nothing about showing horses regardless of the style. But it looks painting the way they show Western.
What an amazing teacher Aaron is, so calm and able to explain so well. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to his thought process as he directed you both
I am in love with Denver and Aaron is so smart!
That was amazing and very informative. I love seeing a virgin rider learning. Aaron was so calm teaching. And he is very specific for the learners
No confusion with western pleasure but I absolutely loved Aaron’s explanation breakdown of everything from how to do it to what you should feel/see. Very helpful! Can’t wait for this series!!!

I love this. The way the guy is explaining how to ride is so interesting
I love the Way he moves! And you look great on your stallion, Katie. Love the trainer too but my favorite part was that huge smile on Nate’s face. ❤
Katie this was awesome. Aron is an awesome coach. So patient. He knows Denver inside and out. Great job yall.
Aaron is very patient with the lesson.
Love that huge smile on Nate's face!!!
Nate looked so happy! Welcome to your new horse obsession, we’re glad to have you 🤣

I can’t wait for the series your planning with Aaron!
Denver is a gorgeous boy, such a awesome composition. Hes going to great things🥰
WOW cahoots to stunner young Denver and Katie with Aaron being such a great instructor and chilled ❤😊‼️
What a gorgeous vlog! Love to see you SHINE on that beauty of a horse, gorgeous cowgirl!✨ Sending lots of love from 🇨🇭!
Love listening to Aaron giving directions. I’m a non horsey person so it’s all interesting
Denver is gorgeous!

what a handsome young horse he is!!!! I cannot wait to see the babies he produces!!!
I love when you do these educational videos. I grew up with horses, but never had any riding lessons. Looking forward to more content like this and learning more from Aaron. He seems like an amazing teacher.
Jogging is like trotting in English riding

Denver is a dreamy mover! Intersting lesson.
Dude I cannot WAIT to see some Denver babies in the coming years. He’s so fricken gorgeous and level headed
Yes I was just thinking about a Erlene Denver babies next year ❤❤ imagine one chilled out baby.

I loved everything and everyone in this video!!!!

I love your trainer. He’s a great teacher. Denver is the best boy ever!!!!
Thank you for sharing! I love watching your videos. I'm a city girl, but I think I might be a farmer at heart!
Nate did so well!
Denver looks so gorgeous while he is in motion. I'd like to learn more about how he is trained and what is expected when he is competing
Totally enjoyed this video, watching u have a lesson, What an awesome stallion ❤
Loved seeing you ride, and especially watching Nate brought me back to many years ago when my grandpa was teaching me to ride❤
This was a really fun and exciting video to watch ❤
Loved this!
I love this place what a great place to breed a horse!!! Denver is an amazing horse!!!
And train them!
Denver is beautiful
Thank you! I had a beautiful Quarter horse when I was a teenager. I rode, everyday, all over the place but I never had a lesson. 🐴❤️
So excited for us to put a comment in first For like absolutely love your channel and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and the files that are coming

Happy New Year and warmest regards,
Felicia Farmer
So pretty! I also like a shorter stirrup when I ride. It's so much more comfortable for me
Well done!
I’m excited to learn more!
Love to know about tack choices.
I'm new to all of this so I would really like to start with a little history and the why it's done and the reasons. Thanks ☺️
I was so excited for you Katie! I can’t imagine having someone like Aaron giving a lesson on a beautiful stallion! I had no clue when he was giving you instructions on what to do and when. I was trained as an English rider, including dressage, where horses carry their heads totally differently. What I would like to find out is why Western Pleasure Horses carry their heads so low, and the how you control the horse with a long/loose rein.
I wonder the same. I'm not use to western, im use to English riding. I am getting more familiar the longer I follow Katie. Love learn all about it.

Can I be next… love them pleasure horses and he’s amazing!!!
Loved this! Can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring. Seeing Katie ride is so fun!
I would like to learn all the aspects from A to Z !!!! Looking forward to it (learning!)
If I have it all wrong, I look forward to a lecture on the function and physiology of western pleasure.
I also much prefer the 1970s western pleasure style. But I'm mainly an English rider so I know I have my bias.
I’m definitely interested in learning more about western pleasure. My main questions are:
What are the judges looking for?
What aids do you use and when?
How do you start working with a horse who is new to western pleasure?
What a good baby stallion!
I have a dressage background and seems to me the slower pace is just a form of asking for super collection and hind end engagement… very curious to hear you and Aaron talk about it and compare the equitation and development of a western pleasure horse to how I’ve been taught to develop a dressage mount.
It would be awesome for you all to do a live here!
Love ur videos, would you ever ride big Waylon just to see what it feels like?
Katie! You look so healthy! ❤
Such a handsome stud!!
Looking good
People do not get how hard it is to ride a WP horse vs an all rounder. Great job.
Cues! In-depth leg cues.
Great idea. I am a trail rider and know very little about Western Pleasure. I would like to learn more.
He’s already got a waitlist, long before Katie even bought Denver there’s been a waitlist to have Aaron train a horse. He’s not some nobody trainer
@Julianne915 I get it, I just feel that list gunna get much much longer.
Not to discount Aaron’s talent but he definitely has A LOT more time and room in his barn these days because he lost a lot of his business after the huge incident at the Premier horse show in Kentucky a couple years ago. It was a disaster and is also the reason he’s no longer married.
What a good boy!!
