I’ve actually had this knife for 2 years now, haven’t used it everyday, but seems to hold up fine as long as you put some mineral oil on it where the coating is worn off every so often to prevent it from rusting.
I own many knives that cost more, but my Mora Robust in CS as well as the Strongarm are my two beater knives. I’ve thrashed my Gerber Strongarm for nearly 5 years now, and even though nearly all the coating is off, and it looks like it has been through a war - it still performs as well as it was new. The edge requires upkeep, due to the softer steel, but I don’t mind it as it sharpens real easy on waterstones, ceramic or diamond plates. I love how robust it is. Watch Joe X’s destruction tests on it - it beats knives that are far more expensive and overhyped. The Strongarm is hugely underrated. And that’s coming from me - a knife “snob”.
I love mine. I have several fixed blade’s in the same size range and some are more expensive than the strong arm but it holds it own even with more expensive knives....
A great knife....used mine for years no problem knife snobs be mad that Gerber makes better American made knives then some companies do at a fraction of the price.
I own bark river knives so I'll probably never own one but they do actually seem like good knives for the price, the whight and balance makes it controllable I've been lucky enough in my life to test many knives from many brands large and small and these are decent for someone looking for their first bushcraft knife or a backup and I've also met a guy who had one in his truck one always in his bag and one at home in an emergency kit and with there price tag he didn't really break the bank to badly my only complaint is I found the handle not overly comfortable but definitely not the worst out there and again I'm a huge bark river fan girl because there handles are comfortable so that really is my preference 😁 and bias lol
I just bought my first Strongarm waiting on delivery from Amazon the seller is pissing me off I paid on the 5th and the tracking number was given yet it says the shipper hasn't received the package yet this has been going on for 6 days
Knives better and much cheaper than gerber strongarm: Ganzo G807 (about 20 bucks), cold steel Hunter (about 100 bucks), Condor Bushlore (about 50), even Mora garberg - I'm not a fan of scandi but still it's better steel than Strongarm, Schrade SCHF36 (around $40), KA-BAR Becker BK16 (about 80), Cold Steel SRK (about 60), Kershaw Camp 5 (about 50), Ontario RAT 3 (under 80) and much more.
I believe the strong arm deserves more credit than it gets. I would like to see how it fairs over long term usage, like a year.

Ive carried mine for about 4 years its scratched up but still in good condition and no rust or chips with minimal maintenance, and it gets used often.

Good. Most people test them like 4 to 8 years later

Only bad thing about the strongarm is that it dulls quick. But I fixed that issue by keeping a small sharpener with me
Mine is running a custom kydex sheath that has a sharpener mounted on it. I pretty much turned my Srongarm into a USA made version of the BG knife
Now that makes good CommonCents! I would agree a beast for sure. 420hc is a tough steel. A definite chip off the old Prodigy block! You earned a sub!👍

You are comparing a $100 knife to a $200 + brand of knife..Not really a fair comparison....
A thick tip is the way to go.
You have experience with thick tips?
Excelente demostración...tengo dos de esos cuchillos y si son muy buenas piezas
Got the Prodigy fine edge, & Strongarm
Cool music!

Amazon are selling fake strong-arm. If yours came in a bubble wrap small box. It's a fake.

Good video. Even the fakes are tough knives.
Thanks.
I just ordered one. I hate gerber. I hear this is THE all around knife. Guess we'll see if it was worrh it.
I just mine for $27.98 on a deal online. Excellent knife!
