As a nurse I can tell you that a bacterial infection is NOTHING to play around with. Untreated infections can lead to sepsis, which can lead to death. Please listen to your medical professionals. Your child’s health is priceless!

The dad was a selfish jerk. He doesn’t deserve to be called “dad”. He ignored his own son’s well-being and health then left him when he was at his lowest point. No kid should ever have to go through being neglected and abandoned by their own parents.

It pisses me off, I wish the mom just stood up to him and said that he is not a doctor and he has no idea what he is talking about, but Labrant is and that she knows what she is talking about.

My youngest son (he’s almost 3) was hospitalized for cellulitis. I didn’t know what it was at first so I showed my friend and she was like “take him to the hospital now” so I picked him up from daycare and took him and we stayed there for two nights. Thank god for my friend and the daycare or else it coulda spread and become sepsis. He’s doing better today thankfully 😊

I've had cellulitis so I know how bad it can be. I got lucky and didn't have to have my leg amputated but it was also in my uterus so I lost my ability to have children. I can't imagine what this boy went through.

It's not just 'If you're not with me during my worst times, you don't deserve to be with me during my best times' that is the lesson here. There is also 'Your children are not your meal tickets.'

This really hits close to home for me. When I was 14 I lost my leg because of a deformity and I was the one who made the decision because my other options were not that good. I'm very thankful I had two very supportive parents to get me through recovery! I'll just say If anyone out there is recovering from an amputation or you've learned you're going to have one just stay positive and turn to God! It's the best thing you can do!

Typical patients/customers/students/clients who think they’re smarter than those who spent years going to school and training to get a licensed to work in a field. Meaning they’d clearly have more knowledge than someone who doesn’t have experience.

And i do my absolute BEST to my ability to be the best son i can be for my mom!!!! we always check on each other!!! and she is always there for me!!! weather i have a good day weather i have a bad day. and i let her know if something is bothering me. i don't know what i would do without her!!! My grandpa got cellulitis pretty bad. He was a bigger guy and already was limited with his movement due to that + old age, so seeing that was heartbreaking. A nurse had to come everyday and take care of his leg & foot, sometimes twice a day. It was almost all gone until it came back in full force. I’m so thankful we had the resources to have a nurse come daily, I can only imagine the struggle for families who cannot. Sending all of my love and prayers to them ❤
Looking back, I’m sure my grandma had that. And her type 2 diabetes made it worse…..right before she passed away 8 years ago.

The step father got what he deserved. You don't abandon your child when they get disabled but be there for them and help them move forward so that they believe in themselves and keep going.

The stepfather was so selfish and didn’t really care about the kid’s health and safety. Kudos to Brenda for being vigilant and caring about her son’s health and safety.
As a person who has a brother that has an amputation done on his leg I can say that it was hard for him but he never gave up and not he wrestles and is an amazing person. You can do anything you put your mind to.
I'm so glad to see someone spreading this message. I had a similar thing happen to me. I had an infection but my dad kept pushing me to play football. I had to get my right leg amputated. Always listen to nurses and doctors.

I honestly wasn't surprised that he revealed his true intentions. It was hurting to see how much of a jerk the dad was to him, and it's just as worse when the son got worse. It's so sad to see that he had to get his fingers and his leg amputated, but mainly it's because of that careless jerk of a dad. This goes to show that it's good to do sports, but if there's something wrong with the body, and if it's exhausted, that is more important at the moment. You need to take care of your body first, before you move on with doing what you love.
It's also saddening that the mom (Brenda)'s letting the dad treat Darren like this. I mean, she's trying to let her son get rest and stuff, but she can't tell her husband off for treating their son like garbage.
