The whole thing doesn't make sense. Pretty sure BEML, located in Bengaluru, could manufacture and deliver than pay for delivery from Chennai/Kolkata/China
Exactly! Sad how these Indian Metro operators ignore these things. BEML would have already supplied to Bengaluru & Kolkata but they went for chinese & now suffering from delays!

The thing is many metros in India have a good amount of funding from Asian development Bank. Whose funding stipulates vendors from all countries should be allowed to contest in the bidding, and here the Chinese company won hence we bought those.
@@zerotwo_.002 but has BMRCL taken loan from ADB for this Phase 2 ? BMRCL usually takes loans for each Phase of the metro construction. I know Japanese and the French and the EDB have given loans but not ADB
@@BlackHawkTejasThe funniest part is that the Kolkata metro is under Indian Railways but still they are importing metro rakes from Dalian , China even though they dont have any ADB funding but the whole funding is through the Railway budget. So on one hand the Govt is tellin us to boycott Chinese goods but on the other hand they are importing Chinese even though there are plenty of lndian alternatives available. That is corruption.

The bidding process is flawed to the core. Japanese and Koreans give preference to their locally manufactured goods over imported even if it costs more. India should start doing the same and as time passes Indian industries too will become more cost effective and will be able to build them at a much cheaper cost.

People who are commenting on China's CRRC rakes being used in Namma Metro, plzz try to understand that the demand is high, and we cannot wait for too long. Yellow line is nearing completion and we need rolling stocks fast. We can't wait too long for Alstom or Bombardier to respond or ever delaying BEML to manufacture rakes. Orders must be given much earlier to BOMBARDIER or ALSTOM......
Bengaluru needs n=more lines and more rolling stocks.
BEML was fully capable of delivering those coaches! It was BMRCL's fault😊 for going to the chinese!

That terrible IMO, we are talking about the most delayed metro here. Some more delay is just fine.

Great but what about Dalian rakes of Kolkata metro?? Are they lost in Bermuda triangle?? Since 2020 we have heard that 10 metro trains will be coming from Dalian China but they never appeared😂😅

Only 2-4 trainsets are imported for trials and testing. As per the clause, the rest 150-250 (I don't remember the exact number) will be manufactured in Kolkata by Titagarh Wagons.

man, China is way too ahead of us, they literally slapped this metro on our face and we couldn't make this? such a shame and hypocrisy for us that on one hand we talk about our competition with this country and at the same time we get our metros from them. A big blow to our ambitious made in India and I am definitely not proud of this
This is a real problem. MCF will make Aluminium metro coach in future. And titagarh already delivered 3 coach Firema metro rakes to Pune Metro, those are running at full speed. ICF does not have a test track for metro that draws power from a 3rd rail, so they can experiment on Kolkata metro, reason why people dint want snag-prone metro coaches from ICF anymore. I think from next time Titagarh or BEML should build metro coaches for Kolkata metro and no longer ICF. The thing is ICF should give up the metro coach vertical from its business altogether and hand it over to MCF or RCF who can afford such long test tracks now, so we can get better metro coaches in future. Chinese Dalian rake has better space management and MEDHA becomes cramped on the interior way too soon.
@@AnubhabKundu let's hope the next time we develop these metros by ourselves because otherwise we are losing a big chunk to other countries, where we can do better.
@@AnubhabKundu contract was won in 2019..before the galwan valley attacks. Rest assured only one of these rakes are being brought from china. The rest are being manufactured by Titagarh wagons.

@@gamingff4505 the contract was won by CRRC in 2019..1 yr before the galwan hostilities. As the above comments say, this one coach is being brought from China for testing and the rest will be manufactured by Titagarh wagons in WB.
