  • Picked up the new M Scorch in Bryson, and paddled the lower Nanty from Ferbees down to Lesser Wesser with Doug - no fancy eddy hopping or anything today - just the inaugural run for the boat to see if it's a fit. Not to mention this was only my second time paddling this river ... hope to many more times (in this boat ... spoiler .. it IS a fit)

Thanks bud. Neither me nor Doug were terribly adventurous that day as we were both in boats new to us, and just feeling them out - plus that was only the second time I was on the Nanty. But it was a ton of fun.

I would love to head down and run the Nantahala! It looks like a really great mellow run with just enough excitement! How far is the from NOC? I assume you are floating a dam release?

NOC is on the Nantahala, and yes, it's dam release... and yes, the lower is mostly just Class II. There are a couple of Class III rapids on it, but easily avoidable if you'd rather stick with the giggle water.
