Fossil hunting Saltwick bay

  • I take a trip fossil hunting to Saltwick bay and try to find some fossils. Ammonites, belemnites, marine reptile and even dinosaur bones !! Plus what ever comes up on the beach.

    Wow! I want to saltwick the other week and didnt have a single thing in my bag walking up the steps! Either a bad day or I was looking in the wrong spots! 🤔😂🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

      Hi Ethan, it can be very hit and miss but usually there is still plenty of dacs to be found. just a case of training your eyes i guess.

    I know where I am going once lockdown is over lol , I can’t believe I never walked round that far, seen it twice now on videos , I especially liked seeing those fern fossils they were incredible and that piece of giant ammonite !

    Seals seem to like to make you jump. They always come out when you're least expecting it haha.

      This one gave me a nasty growl about 2 meters away..... I nearly had a heart attack 😅😅

    It's our favourite place but can't come at moment as we live in Lincolnshire shame for the little seal I know nature will do its thing but it does tug my heart strings. We have found some lovely golden ammonites there and have a jar full of partials I love it

      Hi Dawn, i remember talking to a lady who works for the seal rescue charity and she explained the young seals are often left at a very young age to fend for themselves so hopefully when the tide came in this little one managed to get back to safety.

    2:46, 4:22 and 9:18 - Look like Pseudolioceras; I think the big fragment at 10:30 is Phylloceras

      thanks peter, yes they are pseudos i have had them confirmed on Yorkshire fossil hunters. I'm still learning my species ha ha there are so many !!

      The light is what it is, I'm outside on the coast in England!! Do you have any positive feedback geri ?
