The Greenway really makes you appreciate what we have down south, beautiful countryside, sceneries and little villages along the way for about 40 miles, maybe we'll bump into you some day!
Free Spirits (Like Derek) The Will o' the Wisp- At a whisk He's gone, Like fireflies on a summer night, Or a hiker, Footsteps brisk, Travelling willy-nilly, With a chance of slumber Later, in shade From the mid-day heat; By a rippling lake, In bare feet; Until children squeal And sprawl And mother's bawl A reprimand And he moves away; Sees cows sway Towards the cool Tall trees With the ease Of having all The hours in a day. Swallows play Amid the green the blue hues, They twitter, And butterflies flitter Among the dandelions. A distant church bell chimes A lost hour. Down by the silent byre Dust motes settle On cobwebs And spiders swing Hither and thither In anticipation. Below - A brood of chickens Scratch happily In the dappling Shade of an Old oak tree...

Nearly spat my tea out when that bicycle came round the corner. It's brakes sounded like a train going overhead. Stay well Derek.

Free Spirits (Like Derek)
The Will o' the Wisp-
At a whisk
He's gone,
Like fireflies on a summer night,
Or a hiker,
Footsteps brisk,
Travelling willy-nilly,
With a chance of slumber
Later, in shade
From the mid-day heat;
By a rippling lake,
In bare feet;
Until children squeal
And sprawl
And mother's bawl
A reprimand
And he moves away;
Sees cows sway
Towards the cool
Tall trees
With the ease
Of having all
The hours in a day.
Swallows play
Amid the green the blue hues,
They twitter,
And butterflies flitter
Among the dandelions.
A distant church bell chimes
A lost hour.
Down by the silent byre
Dust motes settle
On cobwebs
And spiders swing
Hither and thither
In anticipation.
Below -
A brood of chickens
Scratch happily
In the dappling
Shade of an
Old oak tree...
lovely poem - captures it!
