Philip Sayce deserves sooooo much more recognition.
It's high time Fender showed some respect to Phillip and like others have mentioned, a Mother signature strat would be great and far more warranted that certain signature guitars released recently.
Petition for Fender to make a *MOTHER STRAT*
@@andrewcruz7595 I'll sign it. Hope Fender reads these comments.
Ditto
From what I see in the video, Fender can save some money on this signature guitar since it wont need any paint.
@@robertlee6781 very little, maybe the odd flake here and there.
It’s so obvious that his main influences are SRV and Jimi, but unlike so many other Stevie clones Philip has his own style and breaks outside of the box. Chris Duarte is another that stand out from others in this genre. Such monster players
Thanks a lot to your comment i discovered Chris duarte
@76mstk you're welcome. He's been around forever so there's plenty for you to check out of him
Holy shit! Phillip Sayce has to be the best blues player alive!! That was some of the best blues playing I’ve ever heard...and the tone! Perfect blues tone! What a nice guy too. No ego at all. His records are all incredible.
Jordan Dangelo agree but have you ever listened to Matt Schofield, Josh Smith or Eric Gales? Blues is still alive. Long life to blues.
Hi everybody, sorry but I don’t think velocity is a good quality of a bluesman. Except SRV that has a breathplaying, Phil does’nt! He’s very impressive but in few years I think he will change his way to play. More breath, take a break when play dude... expressiveness.
@@alfredosantantonio7098 hi, it depends on what you're playing. If you play a slow blues track and make a 200 km/h solo, I agree with you but listen to Alchemy and let me know.
Alfredo Santantonio you can’t be serious. All the greats play fast for the most part. I love Eric Gales and all of the other guys too. Phillip Sayce, to me, stands out, along with Eric and pushing the genre forward by having that extreme dexterity and that ability to fly up and down the neck but still be musical. I do not think that Phillips speed hinders his ability to be musical in anyway, in fact, I think it enhances his playing and the music he creates. The guy can sing, play his ass off and he put every ounce of energy he has into his playing.
He's one the players who is consistently good. I discovered him a little too late and kept hitting myself over the head for it. He's right up there with SRV and Hendrix, in fact a few miles ahead in my books.
This guy made me listen to blues-rock again, and incidentally drool on my shirt. In addition, he looks super nice. Thank you Fender for this great video
Sayce is the bomb. Dude’s playing is pure adrenaline. Love it.
He's an extremely kind person for how talented he is. That's rare.
Thanks Fender. Philip is a class act, he comes across as a decent and humble guy and then he turns into a monster when he plays. Really looking forward to his new album coming out tomorrow.
Music brings out honesty…….
love the combination of exceptional talent combined with humility and a posture of learning - this guys is the real deal
I met Phillip once while he was still with Jeff Healey. He came in while I was playing in a casino in Tunica years ago. He was checking us out and so when we went on break, I went over and introduced myself and talked with him for quite a while. He was with Jeff's bassist and drummer so I asked him if they would like to go up and do a couple of songs and he graciously agreed. They killed!! He was the nicest most humble guy I have ever met!! We even exchanged phone numbers and he dug my playing too! Super nice dude and stellar player as well.
He's just as good as SRV was back in the day, SRV after recovery still has him beat at times, but give it a decade and he'll be better than all of them. Good health Philip, you're a blessing to all of us!
SRV died when he was 35. =/
Who knows how his playing would have evolved and improved had he been able to live another 10 years? I have no way of proving it, so I’m speculating; but I doubt there would be any where near as many clones of him. Lol. (I don’t think Philip is a clone), but he might want to ditch the Stratocaster occasionally and try different guitars more often). It’s hard not to be reminiscent of SRV and Hendrix if you use Strats most of the time especially if they are big influences.
Philip is f**ing awesome. Thanks for this video.
Fender I really respect and appreciate what you have done for musicians during this crazy time. My next guitar will be a fender for sure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
This guy is a force of nature.
Man, I just found Philip a couple of days ago. Blown away is an understatement. Very underrated. I saw Stevie play a in Atlanta right as he was blowing up. Listening to Philip is a step back in time. Such a humble and consistent guy. He’s always downplays himself and is appreciative of his success and opportunities. He feels the music so deeply and falls into the guitar immediately. Such a talented man. Hopefully he can get down to North Carolina at some point. Much love to all🤙🤙
Fender should do something with Philip, maybe a mother signature Strat
Breno Calmon I feel like Philip is way too much of an old soul to release a mass produced sig strat , ya know? I could be wrong but that’s just the vibe I get from him. I mean he still uses an Echoplex
Juan Mayer SRV was in the works with fender for his sig strat when he passed... KWS has a sig strat, buddy guy has a sig strat, Clapton has a sig strat
Yeah I think Philip deserves a signature strat.
3:19 4:12 5:07
So wild that his playing started to relic that cabinet behind him
Philip Sayce is the man. Thanks for the video. Philip is such a huge influence to so many (including myself, of course) within the world of blues. Monster player. Check out the video of him playing a THR. He can make anything sound amazing.
Thats how I got to know him. His playing and tone there is more impressive than on her. Tbf the thr10 is an awesome amp and Philip used his pedal board. 😁
I'm thinking this guy and kingfish are 2 of the best guitarists around right now
I agree.
This came up on my feed today, I love Sayce immensely, thank goodness it came up on my account. Sub ‘d to make sure I get more of these upload recommendations.
So sweet that he kissed his Mother guitar at 34:00 after playing it! We guitarists just Love our guitars!!!
WOW! Philip is an absolute master. Thanks so much!
This was fantastic! Sayce is an incredible player.
Love how he reliced his cupboard too.
ive only just discovered phil, amazingly after being a huge hendrix and srv fan. hes incredible and such a genuine and nice guy
I'm diggin' the heavy relic furniture.
Its not a heavy relic. Its real wear.
@@bensch8604 wrong. It's a masterbuilt piece.
@@rw2806 Philips guitar? nah fam go listen to him talk about it. It's a 60's strat. He's played it so much he's stripped the finish.
@@rw2806 it's a 63. YOU are wrong. www.pinterest.com/pin/178666310189095857/
@@rw2806 So don't act like a know it all when you don't know jack.
Dude you are like such an inspiration...the way you just go for it recharges my brain
Mary had a little lamb is in my top ten favorite song's
Sayce is fire, no one out there like him
Philip Sayce is one of the best to ever do it 🙏🏼
This man's vibrato is nutz
I love these guys who sand the hell of there strats and then expect this respect
im sad to say i heard of philip sayce 1 year ago.i have missed this amazing player.but i have seen all gis videoall his work.and now im a big fan i love the energy he play with.super player.
Such a monster player ! This guy should be a household name. It’s a crime he isn’t as big or bigger as Mayer and Bonamassa!
Sayce would wipe the floor with Mayer and bannamassager
William Walker I really like his spin on who knows, if 6 was 9
William Walker I used to agree till I got better at guitar, but mainly when I heard the Try album. Just wish he’d do a deep dive into blues & stay there
William Walker Mayer is hardly horrific.
Was that cupboard reliced in the custom shop or has it been on the road with Philip do you think?
12:55 this is the KEY point of learning for the all musical instrument
Love the reach for the stars analogy, brilliant 🤩
It's always wonderful to listen to Philip Sayce - he is such a kind and wise musician. Thank you guys!
THIS GUY IS AN AMAZINGLY GUITAR PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holding the guitar close to your chest is actually pulling your elbows in to your body for more strength and accuracy. Called the connection theory in golf and other sports. Philips style and other aggressive blues players is athletic. No doubt!
This is a very very pro guitarist , excelent philip
Agreed!🎸🤘
Speechless!!!!
Them fenders with maple necks have such a different sound... great presentation
Love the "jangle" made by the 50s pickup
Philip melts my eyeballs !
Saw Philip tear it up last night. Epic! Yet to see someone better.
One of my new favorites. Love his playing. Love the props to Jeff Healy. Phillip seems like a very cool guy.
So underappreciated. Sayce is a phenomenal player and guitar junkie.
You kind folks at Fender don't you think Philip deserves a signature strat? You've done that for guitarists who had half his prowess and tone. Wise up and get down to it.
A really great player & a gentleman..
Why is that other guy even talking ? Just let Phillip do his thing!
Funny to hear Philip saying that his Princeton reverb is the perfect amp for home use. It's incredibly loud 😲
I Love It! Thank You Fender Play Live ! !!
That blue strat sounds horrible through that Princeton.
Pretty sure it’s a player series Mx
@@dannyferarra4729 he said it's a modded squire. I have a classic player 60s strat and it sounds killer.
Sure does! Embarrassing!
I agree.. all i hear is treble
Fun fact: Philip Sayce was born in a small Welsh town called Aberystwyth. 18 Miles from Machynlleth, where Led Zeppelin wrote (not recorded) Stairway to Heaven and Led Zep lV at Bron-y-Aur cottage. Music is in the heart of the land, and so are the Welsh male voice choirs...it's in the blood.
Man Philip is a cool sob, sorry that’s a compliment, what a player
so good, thank you guys for such a great Video. Philip is awesome
That was absolutely super fantastic Philip Sayce!
Really enjoyed this, Fender! I got the opportunity to see Phil play in Toronto a few years back and he blew my mind!
He plays with the veracity of the late great, Rory Gallagher!!!
Phil is so talented and seemingly such a great guy.
Host asks first question, then proceeds to tune guitar whilst Sayce answers. Then refers to slide lick as humorous(note Phillips facial expression). Fender needs to get a new host, because this guy is brutal. Jmo
PS is absolutely fantastic! Such control!
Excellent Philip is amazing feeling really comes thru thanks
What a superb player
thanks fender and Philip! such nice guys and awesome playing!
Phillip is a beast!!
AMAZING! 👌 thank you for bringing up Philip, he is The Beast 🎸✌️😎
Why until this time fender still doesn't make the philip sayce signature? Maybe mexico or japan series for the reasonable price
30:47 gotta learn every note of that
Holy shit that guy play.
Painfully bad interviewer, sorry. Philip took it with class. Would you ask BB King to play some Albert King?
Fenders run by a bunch of dorks. Gibson is doing their new content right.
No the guy is fine
Great intro
The Welsh are incredible musicians!
Thanks s guy just st makes me smile,,he is unreal.. supernatural great
Man the cure for depression.....
Well I've been playing blues for about 3 months and I thought I was starting too get the hang of it lol.. now I see how much I don't no.
What about the Chris Duraute Fender Strat !
Philip can play a 2 by 4 with strings and still sound great
I like FENDER guitar .
Very well I grab the for my playlist.
Well they edited your video very good Eugene to make it sound like you didn't stop and correct yourself about four or five times during the intro
What a monster‼️🧨
Monster, true strat sound..
People need a signature Sayce strat
My Squier CV Tele is really quite heavenly
What is the difference about turning your amp around and mic the amount? Is it better?
More Of Philip S!!!!
Fantastic...thanks for sharing!🎸🎶😎
Wow... 🔥🎸
Qué sonido tiene esa guitarra meu deus !!!!!!!!!
Get Philip his own Road Worn Strat.. Incredible Strat player.. Let him carry the Torch..
"Mother" reminds me of Frank Marino, playing Dragonfly.
Awesome dude!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
And as is so often the case we're tuned down a half step/tone...
OMG!!! Burning it up!!!
Ouch: Eugene! Dude ... good tone but did you have to record the intro with a super bright mic in a dunny?
What string gauge does phill use on that 63 strat.. i wonder ?
Philip... Who does he pass the torch to ?
